  1. Historically the team has tried (ever since Lovie was canned) to get it right and cater more to what they think the trend is or would work best for them. After Lovie we needed an offensive minded guy to work with Cutler so they went with Trestman. After he made a shambles of things they thought bringing in an “older coach with a winning pedigree” would help level things out so they brought in Fox. Unfortunately time had passed him by and he was no longer effective as a coach so they pivoted back to going offense as they needed someone to help develop Trubiksy and we got Nagy. And well here we are. Once again discussing blowing it all up; coaches and players (at least at QB). I agree with your analysis (and appreciate the positive vibe). I agree that things, although not at playoff level yet, do appear to be making positive trends for all the things you said. And keep in mind, this is despite all the behind the scene turmoil of coaches resigning and getting fired mid-season. All of that has to affect (or at least distract) some of these young players to some level. I don’t know whether Flus is the answer but I’m also not 100% sure he needs to go just yet.
  2. Bills just fired their OC after Josh Allen is reverting back to his turnover prone ways. And Burrow went down with yet another injury last night. And from what I just read out for the remainder of the season. With a wrist (?) injury.
  3. FWIW I read that the oline configuration for this week will be Jones-Jenkins-Patrick-Davis-Wright. I don’t know whether Jenkins and Davis are interchangeable. As it was mentioned as well, this will be the best we could have it with the current staff. Allegedly, this will be the first time in his 8(?) years with us where Whitehair will be in a reserve role when the starting lineup comes out. Thus I suspect this means 2023 will be his last year with us.
  4. Welcome back to "normality" and congratulations! I'm with you on agreeing their win should be dedicated to you!
  5. You wanna talk about a team snake-bitten by QBs, Cleveland I think has Chicago beat.
  6. So stats being what they are, how do you account for this years’ Denver game? Fields and the offense built a 21 point lead on Denver up through the 3rd quarter before losing by 3 (31-28). The same Denver that has since beaten KC and Buffalo in Buffalo. In this game Fields set one of his newer records by making 16 consecutive completions (a team record) and 335 yards (at the time a personal high). To me this may have been about the time he was starting to show an upward trend. And to revive a ‘dead horse’ only to beat it again, the defense was not performing as it was more recently and the oline was still being figured out.
  7. UNC's record is 8-2 this year with the two losses to Virginia and Ga Tech. I didn't notice this until today but he also wears #10. And to your point about playing against tougher competition (I agree with this point) but was reading a scouting report on him and they (and several other scouts) say they will be paying close attention to the rematch against Clemson this coming weekend (18 Nov). The last time they met the Tar Heels lost 39-10 in the ACC Championship game at the end of the '22 season.
  8. Someone please explain to me why Maye is such a hot commodity.
  9. FWIW I'm hoping to see more of Sanborn in the middle for a bit longer, and I like Edmunds. If we need pressure on Goff this next weekend that (and Sweat) is where it'll come from. I am curious to see how Sewell fits into the defense. He is listed as the #2 behind Sanborn at his position so they must like the NB option over having Sewell play right now.
  10. Detroit made some significant halftime adjustments yesterday. It was actually cool to see a team effectively do that . After pinning 175 rushing yards on the Chargers in the first half the Lions’ well ran dry and they asked Goff to do more with passing. It is incredible how accurate (see dangerous) he is when given time. They also used ESBs brother Amon in some gimmick plays (reverse jet sweeps and the like) and were matching Herbert TD for TD. Although LAs defense was ranked in the top 5 against the run (before yesterday) the Bears are still there and are getting help from the defensive backfield. I’d have to think with the improved pass rush (3 sacks, 9 QB rushes and 6 tackles for loss last week) Montez Sweat and crew will be on a mission to hurry Goff. I’m not confident of a win but I don’t know that it’ll be a blowout. For me the big key will to see Justin continue to play solid.
  11. I saw a video earlier that read something about how Williams would be a better QB because of all the plays he makes in college. Problem was the video they were using were highlight videos of Justin in his OSU days. One thing I go back to time and again is looking at Justin’s collegiate record . He was something like 22-2 overall with a 5-1 (I think) record against SEC teams. He made the playoffs in each of his last two seasons and played damn good in those games against other top NATIONALLY ranked teams. From what I’ve seen is Williams withers on the vibe when he plays against top 10 teams and Maye aside from having one more “starting” season at UNC, all I can think is Trubisky 2.0.
  12. Triggered much? You’re right. I did it for laughs because I think the “experts” are as wrong as anyone else. The term “generational” player, especially with regards to QBs when the “experts” say it is not only hyperbole it’s laughable. I’ll ask again, where were these experts with their generational tag with Tom Brady and hell Peyton Manning? And right now everyone’s excited about CJ Stroud and all the things he’s doing in Houston. Where was his pre-draft hype? My point was moreso about the “can’t miss” 1st round draft picks at QB the “experts” keep telling us about and really how ridiculous they sound when they say “generational”.
  13. So who is “that guy” for Chicago?
  14. Between 2007-18 the Browns drafted 5 “generational” QBs. None of them worked out. We’ve done this now twice since 2017. (And this coming from a guy who generally thinks 1st round picks should be used on skill players). I should add I’m a fan of getting a QB like McCarthy (from Michigan) but not until later in the draft. One thing a lot of people are dismissing is how well Justin was playing before he got hurt. In those games he threw for 617 yards, 8TDs with 1 INT. Also since that time the Bears have increased their running game to 4th overall in the NFL and their defense is ranked 14th overall (2nd in the rush game). What was the common thread with this team early in the season (if you exclude two coaches getting fired)? The defense was playing with third string players, the oline was a mess and Getsy was making questionable calls (one of those three things hasn’t changed). My belief is you need to build better around Justin and stockpile draft picks. And probably change some coaches. If Justin’s thumb doesn’t become a factor, I think we’re in for a great close out to this season.
  15. So let’s draft an unproven “generational” talent and start over. ?
  16. We had better be ready for Jahmyer Gibbs. He’s running all over the Chargers’ (currently) 6th ranked rush defense. Update: Just got his second rushing TD of the day. Detroit had the ball one other time between those TDs and tried two times with Montgomery to run in inside the 5 and were stuffed. Update #2: Lions have 175 yard rushing at the half. This includes one 75 yard TD run by Monty.
  17. FWIW I share in this optimism. I still think they need a more creatively thinking Offense mind in the room, whether that be at the OC or HC. With the defense improving (and playing decent enough with third stringers) you have to think Flus might be the one who can be salvaged.
  18. Fields would be lighting things up if he was we playing. Seems like Bagent has gone stagnant since the 4th quarter of last week. Doesn’t look as crisp as he’s been for most of the last three games.
  19. Curious. How do Justin’s numbers compare to other starting QBs? I’m sure there are some outliers like Tua or even Cousins but you’d have to consider the “big picture”. IE: Cousins’ rank of 86.7 (I think I looked it up correctly) doesn’t reflect his team is still below .500 despite his production. Im frankly surprised that Johnson’s ranking is as high as it is. He hasn’t been spectacular … with the “eye test” anyhow. And in the ‘regardless of snap count’ category, I’d have to think Velus Jones is near 0.
  20. Are these pure snap counts or production related to a certain number of snap counts?
  21. After the last few weeks it’s Foreman at RB. And having Sanborn back to the MLB last week shows he’s much better there than off center. Another player I’m impressed with is the WR (rookie) Scott. He’s made some impressive catches and in a video clip of last week I saw him giving Cameron Jordan all he had to block him out. https://x.com/butkusstats/status/1721619044707512680?s=46&t=KrpJmhSTc4DI1sACtjisOQ
  22. I could see it being more a Foreman revenge game which is fine by me.
