That’s the thought I had earlier. Although this was Love’s ‘first official start’ he doesn’t look nearly as ready as he should be. Whereas Fields, a rookie with soon to be six (?) starts looks a heck of a lot better. I don’t get the impression Rodgers is necessarily a very good mentor. I think he’s more like a Joe Flacco type; not his responsibly to teach the new guy. I like where things will stack up after this year.

I will say this, Fields looks better at this point than Love does…at this point.

Meanwhile in Denver, Kyle Fuller doing what Kyle Fuller does (this catch ended up incomplete because of Fuller).

For perspective two teams were fined 100s thousands of dollars and lost a draft pick each for their violations of the COVID protocol last season. It seems Rodgers should face some comparable fine/punishment and the team as well if they were ok with it. Suppose we’ll see what comes of it. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/will-aaron-rodgers-and-packers-face-punishment-from-nfl-heres-a-look-at-the-rules-they-might-have-violated/

And Fields was considered the #2 QB going into the draft. Hope springs eternal.

Got to see Fields’ alma mater (Ohio State) beat my Cornhuskers today. Watched a little bit of Chris Olave play and remembered he had pretty good chemistry with Fields. Seeing how the Bears will need WR help next season I’d say Olave should be one of their first two picks.

Agreed. Don’t know that Monty’s return (if it were this weekend) would be enough to swing in the teams favor. And with Herbert running like he is (and Fields short field play improving) he certainly can afford to rest up. No need to risk further injury by coming back too soon.

...BUT at the same time Monty returns, so does Nagy. https://wgntv.com/sports/bears-report/as-matt-nagy-returns-to-halas-hall-david-montgomery-returns-to-practice/

So what you're saying is "R-E-L-A-X"??

Saints after losing Jamieson Winston and winning over the Bucs might be in the need for a QB. How about Dalton for the resurgent Kevin White? ??

Lots of Twitter chatter (nothing solid though) involving Robinson to Pats for a 2022 draft pick. And Mack to Buffalo. Allegedly the Bills were heavy into trying for Von Miller but lost out to the Rams.

Mahomes seems off ever since the SB loss. I’m not sure if it’s him, coaching or the scheme. In watching a few of the Chiefs’ games lately Mahomes just doesn’t seem to have ‘it’ anymore. The quirky off balance throws aren’t connecting and even those more traditional throws are sailing off target. The whole team seems just -bleh-. Of course you pair that with a bad defense (an Achilles heel for them in the last few years) and that doesn’t help. As much as I love Andy Reid it’s looking more and more like his style of football is getting passé. Just a few years ago (when Nagy was nominated for coach of the year) I was heralding his coaching tree successes. Those that have or are succeeding are coaches like Sean McDermott and John Harbaugh. McDermott is more defensive inclined and Harbaugh got his experience as a ST coordinator. Then there are his most recent former OCs Doug Pedersen and Nagy. Pedersen is currently not coaching and Nagy soon won’t be either. Its possible that the NFL has caught up to Reid’s style of offense and he hasn’t been able to adjust accordingly . Either way, the Chiefs and Mahomes don’t look like the team they once were.

The team has really just become sloppy and embarrassing these last few weeks. Im not sure whose to blame, the WRs or the play calling? Fields did look better but about 50% of his mid-long range throws were off target (to include the late desperation INT at the end). I know the Oline hasn’t helped a lot but he did have some time to throw at least early on, especially when the run game was clicking. And the successful throws were to TEs. Why did the team abandon throwing to them in the short-mid range game? And more frustrating, why wait this long to use them? There is no case to be made to keep Nagy or Pace at this point.
