  1. Lol…fair enough. I suppose any precipitous jump would be worthy of note. And Lazor and Fields given full credit.
  2. Stole this from another social media site, but is this accurate? Our offense is dead last in total yards? Yikes!!
  3. I don’t feel too awful for Gruden given he got at least $30 million from the team before he resigned (3 years coaching x $10million per year). It’s unfortunate that someone decided now was the time to ‘grind axes’ but someone else here pointed out Gruden doesn’t appear to have changed his stripes either.
  4. Mike Pettine will have some interesting perspective to offer after spending 3 seasons as the Packers DC (2018-20). Their o-line is vulnerable with Bahktiari still out. They did well holding off Bosa a few weeks ago and TJ Watt after that. Not sure the same will be said about Mack AND Quinn. Rodgers is always the x-factor in these games. Limit him and you limit the team.
  5. And if we recall, there was an awful lot of discussion about Russell Wilson possibly coming to Chicago. When (allegedly) Carroll submarined the plan the team went to plan ‘B’. I have to believe that Lazor had some input on Dalton being that choice.
  6. And now the Giants are without Daniel Jones for a bit with a concussion. Their backup? Mike Glennon. ?? Maybe they’ll be in the market for Dalton or Foles? Honestly at this point I’d prefer the Bears keep Dalton and see if someone would trade for Foles. Of the two he’s (Dalton) more mobile and less made of balsawood.
  7. Agreed. He’s been overlooked for Pro Bowl consideration at least last year. It would be simple robbery if he’s not chosen this year.
  8. Those were probably some of the highest of highlights in the game. BearFan I agree that the Raiders seem like dirty but if nothing else they are certainly undisciplined. Early in the game they had two offensive holding calls (simultaneously by two players) on the same play. That no doubt contributed to the Bears being able to score early on. And yes there were some cheap shots taken by them a few times. On the other hand, Roquan continues to become an all around serious LB. Today he showed some serious (Danny T like) thumping ability. Unfortunately his hits, although clean look a lot more ‘illegal’ from the naked eye and probably will get called every time. He crunched both Carr and the backup QB in nearly back to back plays. Both were with the shoulder but left an imprint and garnered at least one penalty. Overall the Bears looked ok. Other than him not being ready, Dalton looked solid in relief duty. Given how beat up Justin had been at that point i would’ve had no issue with him sitting out until halftime. Offense maybe scored a ‘C’ while the defense got a ‘B+’.
  9. Maybe they’re swapping out between plays? ?. Oakland has been helping a lot with all the penalties. The one play with three TEs in (Horstead, Graham and Kmet) was too creative and sensible to be called by Nagy.
  10. First series possessions = garbage for both teams. Chicago’s O sputtered (no thanks to former 1st round pick Ifedi’s false start - again). Oakland’s O was more affected by Chicago’s D. Quinn with a lighting quick stop on the first carry.
  11. Sports Illustrated agrees. In fact they have Foles (1) and Dalton (2) as options. I’d have thought this would be a good place for Trubisky to go but he’s the only guy behind Allen in Buff so ain’t happening. https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/gm-report/analysis-7-quarterbacks-seahawks-should-consider-acquiring-in-russell-wilsons-absence
  12. For as ridiculous as Nagy is, at least he ain’t Urban Meyer. The recent ‘dancing’ controversy, 0-4 record and riding separately home from the team after the last loss. What a mess. https://sports.yahoo.com/urban-meyer-reportedly-continues-apology-tour-at-jaguars-team-meeting-152541268.html
  13. Yes I believe so. With Jaylon, Za'Darius and Preston, all of which are defensive players. Similar to when they used to have two Rodgers on offense; Aaron and TE Richard. I'm sure the equipment manager / uniform person appreciates it when they do that. Along the lines of opportunity missed; I had seen some discussion about trying to bring Jaylon to Chicago (at the expense of Danny T) -which personally I was not a fan of. But also the Panthers were able to wrest away CB Richard Gilmore from NE for relatively low cost and a sixth round pick(?) The same round pick the Bears gave up recently to get Jakeem Grant. Obviously there's got to be more to it than that I'm sure,; like cost, Gimore's injury etc.
  14. To begin I had no idea what DVOA means. Even after I looked up the definition of the acronym I'm still not sure its all that clear to me but... The simple answer to it all is the scheme and who has been coaching him, which until last week was all on Nagy. I'd be curious to see how Trubisky fared under Nagy compared to how he might do if he ever has to play some significant time in Buffalo. Like you said Fields' stats were skewed by the relatively low passing yardage, no TDs and two INTs (and two fumbles that he fortunately recovered). But again, it was the situation he was put into with Nagy as the play-caller. With Lazor making the calls we saw little glimpses of how good Fields really can be. And that will improve with time and the right guy making the calls.
  15. In related news GB looks to be adding recent Pro Bowler and former Cowboy LB Jaylon Smith to their roster. Their defense is dinged up with Z’Darius Smith on IR (back) and Safety Will Redmond also on IR (toe).
  16. Meanwhile…anything new on Cohen?
  17. Good question. But more of this will certainly help. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
  18. Meh. If the team relies too much on Justin throwing long and running short he and the offense will become one dimensional really fast. Especially when playing good defenses. I wouldn’t necessarily consider Detroit a “good defense”. As you say, you have a slew of decent TEs on the roster. Use them in blocking, traditional and hybrid uses/formations.
  19. On the one hand he’s yet another “small fast receiver” that potentially “could blow the top off offenses” but he adds to the return game too…or so we hope. I’d like for us to get a large body receiver in the mix (ala DK Metcalf, AJ Brown or Megatron). Or at the very least use the current TEs (all of them).
  20. I agree. Saw the same things Adam pointed out. Honestly surprised they were 3-0. Must’ve been like when the Bears were 5-0 last year? Anyhow, should be winnable. I give LV the edge only because it’s in Vegas and the “Black Hole” is usually well represented.
  21. I had high hopes for him. Saw the same thing then the near muff during the Cleveland game. During the Detroit game and while watching Webster once again fail to make a return, my wife asked if there was any way to bring back Hester. She’s a good fan. Any word on what actually happened to Montys knee? I had heard hyperextention with no structural damage. Which if true is amazing.
  22. Here’s a pretty good breakdown of how they’ve been using the TEs. With at least Kmet. Appears he’s been helping Peters as an extra OLT.
  23. The guys on the Bears “After Show” would agree with you. These guys do a great job each week dissecting how the Bears do after the fact. And they usually spend a fair amount of time roasting Nagy, well at least Kreutz does.
