  1. And another year of Nagy and Pace…right? ??? But really, if the Bears win…we win as fans.
  2. Think his (Hicks) hammy injury could be a longer term issue. Good to see Williams back. He’s a good alternative runner to Herbert.
  3. I read through his post and still not really sure what the context is. But it appears he struck a sympathetic nerve with some race issues in Wisconsin.
  4. The fact that the defensive secondary as a whole is the weakest link is the issue. That’s where Desai got his start. Jackson hasn’t been good since 2018, the last year Fangio was around. It’s like the biggest issue with the team overall is the offensive production and that’s where Nagy got his start. Don’t get me wrong, Desai’s doing a pretty good job with the defense right now but it could be mostly due to the players in the front 7. We’d need to see more from him before he was considered a HC.
  5. I have a strange feeling it’ll be closer, like 21-17 and really think either team could win. Yeah I know it’s crazy to suggest but I don’t see a walk-away win from TB.
  6. He had a 12-4 record and made the playoffs year one. Then regressed to an 8-8 record the following year. Year three he again managed an 8-8 record BUT made the playoffs. So far this year he’s gotten a .500 record (at 3-3). By record alone he’s very nearly the definition of mediocrity. But the question is…if Fields pieces together a string of wins regardless of whose making the calls, can you simply let go of Nagy? Never mind a winning season but IF they make the playoffs? Last time the team fired a coach with a winning record was Lovie when he went 10-6. Understand I’m no longer a fan of Nagys. Not even as the HC. But IF the team manages to win more than it loses, can you just let him go? If so, how do you make the case? It might come down to how the offense ranks at the end of the season. Considering this is his expertise (offense) right now the offense ranks dead last or close to last in almost all major offensive categories.
  7. Speaking as a devil’s advocate (sorta), if Fields improves and the team wins isn’t that a good thing? What if then?
  8. I can’t swear by it but if I recall, Nagy was carrying a scaled down play card for most of the game. I’m pretty sure I saw him with it during the 1st quarter. It definitely wasn’t the size of Dennys menu like what he normally carries. I don’t recall him ever holding it up to his face between plays so I’m thinking it was more a prop. But I can’t swear he didn’t call plays for the 2nd and 3rd quarter. For as awful as the team played during that time it sure seemed like it. Another thing to take note in is are the off field exchanges between Fields and Nagy. There’s definitely a Cutler-Mike Tice vibe there. Back when Trubiksy played whenever he’d come off the field and Nagy ran to talk with him, Trub would appear to hang on his every word. Not so much with Justin. I’ve picked up on it a few games now; especially after Lazor started calling plays. This video reminded me of it.
  9. Who knows, maybe Brady will forget how to get to the stadium and show up at Gillette Stadium instead? I mean he did lose track of downs when we played each other last year. Dudes getting old like most of us. Anything’s possible.
  10. Indeed. And between the play calling, clock management and officiating much of the 2nd and 3rd quarter was complete garbage. I swear Nagy took over play-calling during that time.
  11. For the record my vote is Brian Daboll be the next HC in Chicago. Not all that keen on the next “offensive guru/QB whisperer” (thanks to Trestman and Nagy) but suspect Daboll is gonna be something different when given the chance.
  12. If you scan the league you’ll find all Rookie QBs struggle their first year, that is unless you're Justin Herbert. Mahomes didn’t do much until year two (after watching Alex Smith) where he threw for 5,000 yards and 50 TDs. Even Trubiksy improved on year two (his much heralded/ballyhooed Pro-Bowl season ) with over 3,200 yards passing and 24 TDs. Despite the fact that Nagy sucks as a play caller Justin will improve there’s little doubt. He has a much better QB historical background than Trubisky ever did. I agree that Pace isn’t doing him any favors and needs to be replaced by the bonehead selections he’s made. With hindsight being our friend, we might’ve been better in letting Dalton take back control when he was ready. But at this point it might be counter-productive to Fields’ development to do so. On the positive side of things; I see the Chicago Sky won their first ever WNBA championship. I think it pretty cool to be from a town that has won a championship in every major league sport. Not many cities (or states) can claim that. I’ve been fortunate enough to watch both MLB teams win the World Series, the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup (a few times), the Bulls win the championship ( a few more times) and even the Bears win one (and play in one other). All in all I’d say that isn’t so bad. And if you think of it, despite how good Rodgers is they’ve only won one SB too and probably won’t do it again with him. Congrats Chicago and more importantly, congrats Chicago Sky.
  13. I vaguely remember that play and thought something weird had happened. I want to say even Olsen made some sort of remark to the same effect.
  14. Agreed-totally. the time Fields tried to call timeout but wasn’t given it didn’t help either.
  15. I think to Pixotes point from earlier, it was discovered he (Gruden) had been still spouting some of this stuff recently (ergo the response from Jason). And sure he didn’t get “fired” but it was “fireable” with regards to what the Raiders options were.
  16. Absolutely spot on. All game I keep asking ‘why bother in the off-season getting “speed” players ( Goodwin, Byrd and Perriman) if you’re not gonna (or can’t) use them?’ Having a player like Graham who is clutch in short gains and in the redzone and not using him is absolutely criminal. They at least worked Kmet some into the rotation.
  17. “Here’s the thing” Jason, when a private institution sees a problem employee that could do harm to them, whether it be image or otherwise they have the right to do as they choose. Firing included. In todays world, whether you or I like it or not, anything political will be cast in a floodlight and highlighted as a huge deal. Whether it be misogyny, homophobia or denying someone’s 1st amendment rights it’ll always catch attention. As Mongo so eloquently pointed out perhaps it’s the “pussifying of America” but that’s the hand we’re dealt.
  18. And I’m convinced that Jackson isn’t even worthy of trading, just drop his ass.
  19. Valid question. Most of their pass plays are designed as pocket passes which is more in Dalton’s wheelhouse. But on the other hand, it wouldn’t help Justine development to pull him. I don’t think they’re down enough to consider it right now. You’re right though, the later non-scripted plays seem to be a bit too much for him right now.
  20. What a series of hot garbage that was. Fields gets cheap-shotted to the head then gets an off-setting holding?!? WTF. Fields tries to call a TO and is denied. Then tries to scramble and almost escapes but instead is sacked. You think Nagy asked to play call that series? Bears need to get back that intensity and rhythm they had in the first quarter.
  21. Yeah I take back the astonished response I had earlier. He’s back to playing current Eddie Lack-son style.
  22. Robert “old man” Quinn going “spider man - Matrix” to put down Rodgers earlier.
