  1. I'm all for sitting pat with the WR and focusing on fixing the OL and DL. If we can imporve those two areas, and a big if, then we are going to excell.
  2. I don't recall seeing that Marinellie actually said he didn't want the job. What he sadi was that he was not satisfied with the development of the DL and wanted to work more on them. Yes, it does seem like he was the safety net, but I don't see it as he didn't want to be DC. And he's got his assistant now coaching the DL. To me, it seems more an indictment of Lovie and JA in the DC search process than Marinelli's supposed aversion to being DC.
  3. Sell written Nfo, and about friggin time we start realizing that our young WRs are our strength. No, I would not bring Holt in. Better to let Cutler develop more raport with the returning group and build for the future. Spend the $ on OL or DE.
  4. Great news BearSox. Take advantage of these opportunitis. And yes, hard work does pay off--you can relax later! Have fun along the way, though.
  5. Sounds like your glass is way more than "half-empty". Maybe, just maybe, Marinelli should have gone this route before jumping from DL coach with the Bucs to HC with the Kitties. And he's got his ol' bud Love in the next office to bounce ideas off of. And you know that Lovie ain't gonna be in Martz's office for long. Hell, perhaps they can get it right. I'm loading up on some Martz-Cutler flavor Kool Aid and hoping that the good ole boys can get something done with bailing wire on the D side of the ball this season. I'm just an old optimist who lives in the dream worl of the '85 Bears, ignoring all the other crap Ive seen through this ride. Hell, at this rate, 2011 won't even have football and this coaching unit will stay in place sos the team can save the cash.
  6. Sounds like the antithesis of all our previous OCs under Lovie. I agree with him, just win the games.
  7. Whew!! I was getting worried there for a while until I scrolled down to this post. Nice to see the sensible Madlith is still in there! Then again, What If?????
  8. Colts secondary coach says, according to PFT, he'd be interested in the DC position. Could be a possibilty.
  9. Hopefully Tice will have some influence on those two points. It will be very interesting to see how Martz and Tice put together the game plan.
  10. I too am concerned with the OL, way before Martz came on board. But now, the OTs better step up or we are going to be seeing Hanie during the season, and what would Martz do with Hanie as the QB?
  11. It is official. Now we have a passing O in Chicago.
  12. I'm not going to be shocked if Marinelli ends up finally accepting it. Wow, then you'd have meetings with Martz as OC and the DC being a former HC that canned him. I guess that Lovie believes he can manage them both and end up with the good ship Super Bowl.
  13. Lovie will have all his old buddies on board--Martz and Marinelli, who he wated when the Bucs wouldn't let him go. If Lovie can't get it done with this group, he's got to go. And that may well be one reason that JA, in the end, signs off on Martz. As a solid Bears fan, I want the team to do well, and I've got my Kool Aide ready. But like most solid Bears fans, I've got my depression medicine in the cabinet, just in case.
  14. I'd give up a 7th rd pick for him. And I think he's done a great job with Rogers and the Puckers' O has looked good. So, If JA and Loviehave fallen n lov with the guy, give up a very late rd pick for him.
  15. Yeah, but you're coming from a very different frame of mind. You are open and willing to view personnel based on what they can do. Lovie seems toget a preconception about someone and then it is set in stone--see naming starters without competition; see naming all his ole buds to coaching positions; see having your head up your arse! I don't have any faith that there will be any change in their approach.
  16. Agree. At this point, given our recent failings on D, we need to look outside the box. Now, will Lovie and JA do it? I doubt it, but remain Kool Aide hopeful.
  17. I liked Evans too. But I'd take Douglas over Avellini.
  18. Maybe they learned--God help us--that forcing out Rivera was a big mistake. Come on Lovie, who else WANTS to be here as DC?
  19. And by one of his patented dumb throw INTs! I had a feeling that he'd bite the Queens in the butt at some point. Came at the right time!
  20. Bring him in! Sounds like he WANTS to be here--and that is a good sign. Hell, us fans would love to have a link with the 46 D as one of our coaches.
  21. 1. Jim McMahon 2. Sid Luckman 3 Jay Cutler 4. Billy Wade 5. Bobby Douglas--yeah, I know he didn't win anything, but he was one tough QB.
  22. Just remember that "Jack Ass" brought us Cutler. I, for one, think he should go down in the Bears' HOF for pulling that one off.
  23. Way friggin too much. If it's true, good for JA and what a butthead is Lovie.
  24. My God, what a tragic story for his family. 26 and a heart attack? Just makes you think. Pray for his family.
