  1. Hopefully Tice will have some influence on those two points. It will be very interesting to see how Martz and Tice put together the game plan.
  2. I too am concerned with the OL, way before Martz came on board. But now, the OTs better step up or we are going to be seeing Hanie during the season, and what would Martz do with Hanie as the QB?
  3. It is official. Now we have a passing O in Chicago.
  4. I'm not going to be shocked if Marinelli ends up finally accepting it. Wow, then you'd have meetings with Martz as OC and the DC being a former HC that canned him. I guess that Lovie believes he can manage them both and end up with the good ship Super Bowl.
  5. Lovie will have all his old buddies on board--Martz and Marinelli, who he wated when the Bucs wouldn't let him go. If Lovie can't get it done with this group, he's got to go. And that may well be one reason that JA, in the end, signs off on Martz. As a solid Bears fan, I want the team to do well, and I've got my Kool Aide ready. But like most solid Bears fans, I've got my depression medicine in the cabinet, just in case.
  6. I'd give up a 7th rd pick for him. And I think he's done a great job with Rogers and the Puckers' O has looked good. So, If JA and Loviehave fallen n lov with the guy, give up a very late rd pick for him.
  7. Yeah, but you're coming from a very different frame of mind. You are open and willing to view personnel based on what they can do. Lovie seems toget a preconception about someone and then it is set in stone--see naming starters without competition; see naming all his ole buds to coaching positions; see having your head up your arse! I don't have any faith that there will be any change in their approach.
  8. Agree. At this point, given our recent failings on D, we need to look outside the box. Now, will Lovie and JA do it? I doubt it, but remain Kool Aide hopeful.
  9. I liked Evans too. But I'd take Douglas over Avellini.
  10. Maybe they learned--God help us--that forcing out Rivera was a big mistake. Come on Lovie, who else WANTS to be here as DC?
  11. And by one of his patented dumb throw INTs! I had a feeling that he'd bite the Queens in the butt at some point. Came at the right time!
  12. Bring him in! Sounds like he WANTS to be here--and that is a good sign. Hell, us fans would love to have a link with the 46 D as one of our coaches.
  13. 1. Jim McMahon 2. Sid Luckman 3 Jay Cutler 4. Billy Wade 5. Bobby Douglas--yeah, I know he didn't win anything, but he was one tough QB.
  14. Just remember that "Jack Ass" brought us Cutler. I, for one, think he should go down in the Bears' HOF for pulling that one off.
  15. Way friggin too much. If it's true, good for JA and what a butthead is Lovie.
  16. My God, what a tragic story for his family. 26 and a heart attack? Just makes you think. Pray for his family.
  17. I knew you'd be in apickle over this one Nfo! Good answers! Hope your no. 2 scenario plays out.
  18. Maybe Angelo, or Lovie, is saying that someone has to be accountable, finally. So they are looking at who they think is the best candidate available for the position. At least I hope that's it.
  19. Read that and agree, as I noted in another post on the staff taking their time to make the selections.
  20. I also think this is a great addition to the team. Tice brings ample experience and hopefully he can build on the minimal success the Oline had at the end of the season. Now on to the coordinators!
  21. Put me in the "procede with caution and eliberation" camp. Fewel might be Lovie'stop choice, but I'd rather they take their time to really get the "best" guy because he knows how to run a solid D, not because he is the square peg for their square hole. Why the rush? I'd rther they interview a ton of guys and then pick the ones that impressed them. Having said that, it seems that Lovie's approach to things seems to be make a decision and then go full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes in that direction--see naming starters without competition.
  22. I, for one, don't like the fact that everyone on the D coaching staff side has to first pass the Lovie connection test. "Fresh air" would be a coach with a different perspective and one that didn't need to be old pals with the HC, but a damn fine defensive coach. I'm hoping Fewell does give us some spark, but I'm leary of all the Lovie nepotism that operates on the defensive side of the ball.
  23. Agreed. The D is a real indictment of Lovie's and Angelo's staff's inability to evaluate and develop players.
  24. Turner doesn't seem to grasp playing to your strengths. I bet he's fired by tomorrow afternoon.
