I hate the idea of tanking to get a better draft position but if we start Grasu, Bullard, Shaheen and give substantial playing time to Braunecker and Robertson-Harris if they play terrible we will know they aren’t going to be counted on moving forward and we will continue losing resulting in a higher draft pick. If they play well and build confidence they may be looked at as being starters for the next coaching regime and if we win a few games along the way the team will feel better when the new season arrives. One thing I really hope happens next season is that our schedule at the start of the season is a little kinder. We have had brutal starts the past 2 years and I don’t think this has helped us.

With all the talk of the money wasted by Pace and his so so selections in the draft and free agency we could be in a good situation in the offseason. It looks like the contracts are Bears friendly and prove it and you get paid or we move on without it majorly affecting our cap. The contracts below are from over the cap and the only players I would definitely want to keep are Trevathan with a possibility of Sitton, Demps and Young. Then if you consider the injuries to starters and hope this will improve especially if they can work out why it’s happening. I have always wondered if the state of the field at Soldier Field attributes to the soft tissue injuries. If you look at current injured reserve if Meredith, White, Long, Floyd, Young, Demps and Freeman had played at least 70% of the games this season could have been drastically different. I know there are big question marks against White and Freeman for completing different reasons. Freeman is going to be a liability at best and we haven’t got much of an idea as to what White could be. I feel the White situation is a great shame for everyone. The Bears couldn’t have afforded for a player drafted that high not to be an impact player and by all accounts the kid as done everything asked of him and has been unlucky. I can remember is injury this year. He tried to make up for one of Glennon’s poor decisions, dived on the ball to try and help the team and ended up with a broken shoulder. Maybe this is an example of him trying too hard and putting his body in danger of injury. Looking at the possible savings if all the players on this list were cut we would have an extra $63,619,115 in free agency on top of the already projected $49,046,328 which totals $112,665,443. I think all things considered we aren’t in a terrible position if the right choices are made. It seems to be common knowledge that Fox wasn’t Pace’s choice of head coach and hopefully if he will be given autonomy to choose who he wants. If that is the case at the end of his 5 year contract we will know whether or not we have a general manager that can build a winning organisation. Contracts that can be moved on from Glennon. $11,500,000 Sitton. $8,000,000 McPhee. $7,075,000 Trevathan. $4,650,000 Sims. $5,666,666 Massie. $5,600,000 Wheaton. $5,000,000 Cooper. $4,500,000 Young. $4,500,000 Demps. $3,666,666 Freeman. $3,460,783 Sent from my iPhone

Having lost as many starters over the last 2 years has the Bears haves makes it really difficult to decide where the roster is. Putting Long and Unrien on injured reserve may be interesting though for the future. In know that Grasu has set the world on light but I hope Whitehair is moved to RG allowing Grasu if his hand injury has healed to play centre. If he shows any ability we might have the option to keep him there or trade him if he looks good. Whatever happens playing Grasu if fit for 4 consecutive games will enable the Bears to decide if he is an asset or a liability that needs to be released. The open spot at DE is interesting because I have wondered frequently why Bullard hasn’t won the starting role. Now he can’t hide and similar to Grasu I would like him to play out the season as the starter and we will know exactly what we’ve got. Also it would be good for the coaching staff to put them both on an alert that now is the time to show there high draft position wasn’t a reach.

We are inept at coaching, the roster dosen't seem to have improved under Pace and the players leave the pitch injured all the time. For christ sake put Long on injured reserve get him operated on now because I'm sick and tired of him not playing the whole game. I'm sick of people saying he's playing through injuries, since signing his contract extension he's injured all of the time. He should have had his shoulder operated last year as well as the ankle. this is going to be another offseason when he won't be in training camp and the preseason. what are we gaining from playing him.

Robbie is going to kick the winning field goal. I was happy to move on from him because of his large salary but I would have expected the team to not let him embarass us.

I am starting to have my doubts about Ryan Pace and whether Phil Emery was actually that bad. If the roster under Pace was starting to show could improvement mainly in wins I would be happy but we might be looking at 6-10, 3-13 and 5-10 (if we split the rest of this seasons games). Whereas we had 10-6, 8-8 and 5-11 under Emery. I was happy to blow up the roster and under stood it would take a couple of years to improve but if you cut a player the next players needs to be better or you are just making a change with no benefit to the team. If the new players are better I can’t work work after 3 years why this team isn’t better in the win lose record than Emery’s last seasons 5-11. I am not interested in having losses to get a better draft pick we need to win as many games as possible. For me to be happy at the end of the season from this point I want use to have a 8-8 season i.e win out from this point. If you can identify talent it doesn’t matter if you pick at No.1 or No. 15 in the draft and anyway the draft at best is a lottery anyway. If picking height in the draft is so good why is Cleveland historically poor..

I listen to ESPN 1000 (Chicago) regularly from the UK and they regularly say Ryan Pace didn’t want John Fox. Now Ryan you need to make sure you identify the right coaching staff to develop Trubisky and you make the right selections in the draft and free agency because in the 4th year the minimum standard needs to be making the playoffs. I know the NFC North is a good division but the time has come to start winning.

What a joke Wentz hikes Kill Kill which was a QB sneak and the DT can’t win their 1 on 1 battles. A disgraceful performance today what about the vaunted front four a complete joke.

I haven’t wanted to change head coaches because of the risk of changing our offensive and defensive philosophies meaning we need to rebuild the roster because players don’t fit the new scheme but this team has given up and the coaches haven’t got a clue. I know many people want Fangio to be part of the next coaching staff but this defense is horrendous. These are the coaches that are teaching the players the scheme and I can’t see any development. I am totally embarrassed by this performance and I would sack Fox after the game and the owners make a statement that not being competitive no longer happens in Chicago. Also Pace needs to be made aware the time for rebuilding is gone and we better start seeing an improvement. I hate the concept of losing games gives you a better draft position. The consistently good teams such as New England, Green Bay, Pittsburgh etc pick regularly late in the draft and poor teams like Cleveland and Chicago pick early and are still woeful. It doesn’t matter where you pick you need to identify talent, develop them and have a winning culture. You don’t need to win every week but you at least need the other team to walk of the field thinking we won but we took a beating today. I am also sick of the injuries we keep picking up. I know the game is tough but I just feel we are soft.

I haven’t been happy with the coaching staff recently but this loss is on Barth they put him in position to make the kick and it wasn’t even close. I know there is probably no one on the streets better but you have got to make a statement to the roster. Barth is cut and you move on with another kicker.
-
Why are we looking so unorganised. The oline is all other the place and our improved defense is looking poor. If Fox can’t doesn’t get significant improvement in the 2nd half I am unsure he can make us improve and I have been supportive of this coaching staff. I know Long is out but Whitehair is playing the position he was drafted to play so I didn’t expect the oline to look this bad. I was expecting to good performance today considering we were coming off the bye week.

ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson tweeted Kevin White in the locker room visiting players. Considering the play of our WR’s I will be really pissed if he isn’t activated soon. This injury should have healed. We really need him so I would imagine he is activated at the latest next week and how can he be any worse that the dross that has played the position recently. We need to know if he is anything or they cut him because if he can’t perform in this WR room then he has no trade value.

I agree with Mongo we need to stop bitching about the coaches. This team is on the up and i don’t want to change coaches unnecessarily. Regarding Loggins we are asking him to open up the offense but clearly the wideout position isn’t good. You can clearly see they aren’t getting separation consistently. It’s a travesty that Meredith and White are on IR because until we have the right players on offense we can’t make a rational judgement on what Loggins is. I was proud of the team yesterday we went up against an ascending team in their own backyard with a rookie QB and then lost the strength of our O-line. We were shafted by the officials on numerous occasions, we didn’t help ourselves for instance with Fuller’s offside and Trubisky’s sack that made the field goal more difficult that led to the miss. We were unlucky on the Saints fielgoals which both were nearly missed but to conclude were are competive and now have one of the best schedules after the break and will play our in our division 4 times out of the next eight. We could finish 8 and 8 which would be a great step forward this year considering the injuries with have had to deal with.

I am currently less concerned with Leno that Whitehair with his pre-snap penalties and holding. Also he is struggling to snap to the QB in the shot gun which will affect Trublisky greatly.

How come every time we play the Packers our secondary's get picked on plays. Now I'm from the UK and never played the game but played football and rugby. When players come across you and there is a chance of collision putting you at a disadvantage we would communicate and pass the players on. I understand players defend either man or zone but surely when playing teams that pick is there a man zone scheme or a flexible scheme that can defend this. If this movement happens and we start coming together we will do this. Another thing I am concerned about is the first possessions of a game. We aren't in a position to trail in a game especially against teams like the Packers. I didn't feel we started of with good intensity, the play calling was poor and we didn't adjust well. I don't know what is happening with Floyd he has minimal impact on plays and nothing seems to be improving. Can't he be developed during the week or is all of the training he gets specific to the upcoming game. If that is the case surely there are specialists out there who he could work with in his own time or would the team prevent him from exploring this such as martial arts, boxing etc. I understand he is still a little light but his technique and variety of moves is poor. Unfortunately together with White possibly 2 busts that this roster couldn't afford. If they were half the players we had hoped this team would be in such a better place.
-
It is a shame for the injury and I don't believe it was intentional. One of my concerns is the the officials could have blown the whistle. It don't mind players trying to get further yards but when offensive linemen start creating a wedge and start pushing players forward then there is a high risk of injuries occurring.
-
I watched the game yesterday on NFL gamepass and must say this is my worse experience post Trestman. However I am not making excuses but where we are at the moment we can't afford to make turnovers and/or sustain injuries. Regarding turnovers our inability to provide offensive production means we can't behind in a game and expect to be competitive. Just look at our depth chart excluding Glennon and we have lost our 2 starting wideouts, Wheaton is still unavailable and this is also the case with Long. If you factor in other wideouts getting banged up, losing Compton/ Sinton as well as Howard being banged up then we haven't got a recipe for success Regarding where we are as a franchise then if we feel Pace is making the correct roster judgements and the turnover in players was necessary then we are still in the rebuilding mode because we can't be competitive with losing these players because the depth we have in place isn't good enough. If this is true then whether we keep or fire Fox won't make a major difference unless he's lost the players which I don't believe. If Pace doesn't know what he's doing then we are in a serious situation and it may need to be blown up again. This will mean we won't be competitive for another 3 years or it is starting to seem like ever. At the moment depending on if Detroit win or lose we are 1 to 2 games behind in our division so it's not drastic yet. Another thing to factor in is the last 2 years the NFL hasn't been helpful with there scheduling for the 1st 4 weeks of the season.
-
Does this mean there is no chance of him coming off injured reserve later in the year. If surgery isn't required then it would take 4 to 6 weeks for the injury to heal. I believe this is a fractured scapula and not the clavicle. If he healed quickly could he be available after the bye week to play the packers?
-
I voted Kevin White because if Howard and the oline performs to a similar level as last year if White is successful to me this means he will be the player Pace thought he would be. This will make a major difference to the offence because teams won't want to leave themselves open to the deep play and therefore have a play a balanced scheme so giving the TE's, other WR's and the RB's potential for greater productivity. The defense other than the secondary is extremely strong and all evaluations I have seen indicate it could be top 10. If White is a deep threat and catches the majority of balls thrown his way then his play will have the most impact on the teams win and losses.

I agree our line will need to play like they did against Minnesota last night. Man handle them and wear them out. Hopefully our season will be based on a strong running game even with the safeties in the box and then when we get into the red one play 2TE sets and take advantage of big players who can box off the linebackers because they will need to respect the run. My biggest hope is that this year instead of the last few openers to my recollection we have good opening drives. Not like when Paulson at TE was at fault in 2 of the first 3 plays. Was that last year or the previous. I don't want to feel deflated if we start this season undisciplined from that start such as a 3 plays and out on offence or a 80 to 90 yard drive from Atlanta with. TD.

By all accounts Baltimore still wanted him and hoped he would sneak onto the practice squad. Regarding Langford I was dismayed when I heard the report he injured his ankle in a walk through. I suppose it might have been better to pick up a bigger back but Howard seems to be durable. Fingers crossed.
-
Langford cut today no big surprise but brace move by Pace because it questions his talent evaluation but needed to be done to make a statement to other players this is a business where you are paid well and need to perform. This is a good move in relation to Kevin White. It's time to man up or be shipped out.
-
Go to guy as to be White and this should have been Glennon's from day 1 because we have a good idea what Meredith is but this the the season that White comes through or we have to move on from him. My biggest worry with White is the report the coaches were trying in the offseason to build his self-esteem. I know he has been dealt a bad blow but I hoped he would use this as a motivation. I am unsure how greatly we have improved the roster from last year considering the money we had available and where we picked in the draft. Why was Houston cut was it because of his injury and his salary became guaranteed. Might have been prudent to either rest him for the meaningless preseason game and decide if he is worth a roster spot at his salary.
-
I would move Whitehair to LT for 3 reasons. He never played centre and was awesome there and although he is considered having short arms I would like to see his transition. Then if he is able to play there it should be a significant improvement at the position. Although Leno Jnr has been serviceable we need better play there. It would also put pressure on Leno Jnr to play better knowing he has serious competition in his contract year. My biggest reason for him to change is how not playing Grasu at centre affects the improvement of the roster. We can't afford to miss on players especially picks between the 1st and 3rd rounds because these players need to be our starters. By all accounts Grasu is now stronger and was ready to have a good season so he at least needs to have a look in training camp and the preseason. I read an article earlier in the year about the new oline coach who shuffled the Dolphins line last year after a poor start cutting the starters and trying players at different positions which worked really well for them and might be good for us. My line would be Whitehair, Sinton, Grasu, Long and Massie. I would have tried Long replace Massie but he has already shown the drop off from him playing guard is too great so he stays there.

The. Problem now will be teams know that Pace needs to trade back to have any type of draft this year. If we stay at our current position with 1 pick in each of the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 7th rounds this years class even with a franchise QB will be poor. I suppose we are still dealing with poor drafts since Angelo because to offset what happened today if we had a couple of compensatory picks our draft this year would look different I hope they have done good work evaluating talent because we may need to since a boat load of free agents from this draft class. We may also need to sign players with off field issues hoping we get value that way. Not looking forward to the next few days
