  1. I am really looking forward to this match up today. I respect Suh's physical ability but I comes across as a bully. Did the Bears draft Long in mind of playing the Lions twice a year. It would be great to see him locked one on one and kick is safe. I think Long 's strength and agility with is nastiness could end up with Suh taking cheap shots and being ejected because the bully boy won't have his own way.

    2-0

Interception in the end zone had me cursing yesterday. Looked again in slow motion and Maneri was wide open and Cutler was unlucky that it was tipped however Maneri was still open and should have caught the tipped ball. If he would have tried jumping and catching it at its highest point it would have been a TD. Marshall blamed himself for the other one saying he should have come back for the jump ball considering the position of the safety. I see adequate to good play from Paea, Wooten, Collins and McCellin. Hope the missing time in training camp is the reason for non existence of Melton and Peppers because their play has been dreadful. Great start to the season looking forward to going to Green Bay for our first meeting in a few weeks and smashing the cheese heads.
  3. WR. Is there anyone out there that would cut Earl Bennett. I am concerned the length of time out with this concussion and if he has another during the season does he miss 4 games. I know you want to look after injured players but looking at it from a business point of view if there are no major cap issues I would cut him and move on. I don't think anyone would be interested in a trade due to previous injury concerns. Then WR would be Marshall, Jeffrey, Anderson, Wilson and Seems and possibly look for a sixth from other teams cuts unless Aromashodu is kept as the sixth. Due to Scott being injured Webb unfortunately will be the swing tackle.
  4. I listen regularly to espn 1000 podcasts and they all view Webb as a guy who doesn't want it enough. He just doesn't care enough and although it is good to respect the team's decision regarding a demotion and pay cut again he comes across as not being bothered and apathetic to the whole situation. Mills cares and wants to play. Webb probably has the better athletic ability but when all is said and done I feel he won't make the roster after the final cuts if Scott is healthy.
  5. Listening to Anthony Adams on espn 1000 he stated that Webb has high end athletic ability but needs to play with some fire. This backs up my thought that he can't find the fire or some might say nastiness inside himself to take himself to the next level. Everyone can get beaten on a play but I would like to see him try to nail someone once in a while. His failing is probably because he is just too nice and placid. He must know that this his last chance and that the bears have invested a considerable amount of time and money and if he doesn't show he's got some balls then he will be cut before the season starts. Like all true bears fans I would like the kid to succeed but he needs to man up. Watching the game against the Panthers I concentrated on watching Kyle Long and although he may not show good technique and got beat he showed a nasty streak and stuck his hands in the players face and body to say your not intimidating me. I have never seen that from Webb, instead of getting a 10 yard holding call I wouldn't mind seeing a 15 yard personal foul where he sticks one into someone to make a statement your not going to kick my arse tonight.
  6. Although disappointed with the game which I watched on NFL gamepass I was pleased with the play of Kyle Long. I would be surprised if Long is not named the starter at right guard. Defense looked OK with good work from Anderson, Bostic and Greene so with Peppers returning 'D' should be OK. Blitz pick up by the OLINE will need to be looked at, I know the scheme looks to protect from the inside out but it looked like either of the centre and guard could have pealed off their double team blocks and stopped the blitzing player. Wilson, Frey and Joe Anderson looked good. Onobun, Britton and Brown looked poor. Another couple of positives were only 1 delay of game so not needing to waste a timeout and no false starts. Didn't like the amount of sacks though.
  7. This is a must listen to piece of journalism. I will be routing for Brian to make the falcon and it puts into perspective how much time you want to put into listening about Aaron Hernandez. I would say a big fat zero. A pampered big time Charlie who thought he was an untouchable. Brian could have been a great prospect however wrongfully accused of rape and kidnap. Lawyer who is now a judge sold him down the river. Disadvantaged throughout the legal process. A great story.
  8. I think it is about time this thread was deleted. I know it is a boring period but there is no need for this continual bitching. Webb this Webb that to be honest I don't really care. I have my opinion and I am happy to listen to others and if I don't agree I won't attack the person until he agrees with me or stops posting. Maybe we should all agree the oline as been pathetic the last at least 4 years and I don't care who starts as long as I don't feel embarrassed come week 1 if the first play from scrimmage is a holding call, sack or minus 8 yard run.
  9. If we went 10-6 with Tice calling the offense last year or was it a offence? If Trestman and Kromer are 1/2 as good as what as been quoted then I think we go a long way in the playoffs. If the team is status quo as of last year then surely the Oline has got to be improved and doesn't the linebackers at least look to be more athletic. maybe I am being optimistic with rose coloured spectacles but as Sitka once said " I think we are going to the dance ".
  10. I would hope that the coaching staff Don't make a decision either way until he comes into training camp. Maybe I'm a glass half full guy but if his knee is sound and he comes in strong and at a good weight then he may prove not to be a bust. it is not his fault that he has been injured since joining the bears. I hope the coaches don't take it personal about him missing OTA's and be objective to whether he has earned his roster spot. No one is calling out McCellan's performance last year but I can't say that it was impressive and will he get longer to stick because he is an emery pick.
  11. Would either of those positions improve the team better than a starting guard considering how poor the oline as been. We can get by on all the other positions but surely we need to improve the oline to create holes for Forte and keep Cutler from getting injured.
  12. When looking at the list of players Kyle Long and Sylvester Williams are the only 2 players that would probably start and may improve the team and that is if Williams would he beat out Stephen Paea. Wouldn't Floyd play the same position as Melton, both the corners would be going against Tillman and Jennings who had exceptional years, Patterson would he beat out Marshall or Jefferies. Watching how Martellus Bennett played for the Giants last year and is expected to perform this year then the chances are Eiffert would not start. Now factoring in everything from last year and the off season signings which player helps us get better now and it has to be Kyle Long if he starts from day 1 however at the end of the day nothing is guaranteed and many posters felt Gabe Carimi was going to be our starting RT for the next 10 years.
  13. Oline is our biggest need to get better. I have been complaining about this for probably since we had John Tait and Fred Miller so the next best lineman available is an easy choice. If he starts at the easiest position then we will be set on the left side of the line. He may end up being the starting left tackle for the next 10 years. I am not concerned with his playing time Gabe Carimi started at left tackle all his career and was rated to be good enough to start at right tackle which as not happened as of yet. I am looking forward to seeing what Kromer does with Long, Carimi and Mills however Mike Tice was supposed to be a Oline guru so I hope this isn't just hype.
  14. That comment regarding I don't care less whether a player does it or not is a load of rubbish. Whether he does on game day or days leading up to the draft it will impact on his ability to think quickly and laterally. A professional athlete is going up against players in peak physical condition a d any edge that can be gained is to your advantage. So stay off the weed watch the tape and play to the best of your ability. Would I say Webb was spaced at times during games last year. YES. I am amazed that the team and Lovie would allow this when its is easy to eradicate. If someone's smokes weed it stays in your system for 28 days so test the player regularly and they will stay off pot.
  15. ,Like I stated previously on another thread Carimi was injured the 1st year and the 2nd played gingerly lost weight, looked weak (at the combine and coming out of college Carimi was graded as powerful). Also he was graded as having good technique and the only knock on him was athleticism which would not make him an Emery type player. Therefore if he is fully recovered from the injury this year, is training hard in the gym and is schooled by Kromer to play to the best of his ability in his third year he may not end up as a bust. I just hope the coaching and blocking scheme put in by Tice is the reason our players have not performed and we will never know if this is the reason Chris Williams ended up being cut more to do with Mike Tice than the player although he never started for the Rams last year but is still on the roster. It will be interesting whether they keep him this year now that Jake Long has been signed.
  16. Come the regular season if Webb is the starting RT then you will have been vindicated to a certain degree however if Scott, Vladimir or Mills start then it will be apparent he is not enough at either tackle spot regardless of being put on an island, given whatever help and better quality coaching. Mind you as I have stated previously if someone has better at centre then the majority of our oline concerns will be sorted. in our division we face Raji, Su and the Minnesota tackles get a centre who can provide a bit of a push and then we can dominate the division.
  17. This debate between Bushrod and Webb is getting a little tedious now. The bears have made a decision LT was a weakness and they wanted to go in another direction. Webb will have his chance in the scheme that Bushrod had in New Orleans so maybe he makes the pro bowl this year. Like I have said previously I am concerned that Garza is in the backfield as much as forte and if we are protecting inside out then I like the look of the guard options but give us a centre that can hold his own. Final comment on Bushrod V Webb l feel Bushrod is mentally stronger better prepared. I get the feeling with Webb he is a little spaced at times and this could be the occasion becomes a bit big for him or maybe he does like a smoke.
  18. I hope Carimi's poor play was due to rehab from injury and loss of weight and power. His solid bench press at the combine shows he should have power if he is fit. I also am concerned with Garza play always pushed back into Cutler and if he is the leader then I would expect him to handle his assignment. Is it difficult for a guard to play centre and wondered if any of the other players could fill this role. I am really excited to see what Kroner does with this line. I would like to see Brown, Carimi, Webb prove they can make the Oline pool. Bushrod, Long,Mills and Slauson however how many do we keep on the roster and can any play centre.
  19. Videos show both players have considerably better foot speed the Urlacher and Roach. So I think we will be better. If Urlacher is not picked up is there any chance of him coming back at 1 year 2million or are we set and only looking to the future now at linebacker in the draft or undrafted free agents.
  20. Also to take into account is recovering from the knee injury. I have seen a lot of statements that have assumed that Carimi's poor play could have been attributed to recovering from injury, not being able to train in the weight room and losing weight. His bench press at the combine indicated he has strength although poor technique could negate that. I think this will be an interesting training camp for Carimi especially with Kromer working him although Tice was supposed to be a great line coach.
  21. Not worth 4 million average player at best. I liked what James Brown did in the last 3 games and if Carimi knee is fully healed and he hits the gym and comes back strong Kromer might perform wonders although an upgrade at centre is needed due to others consistently being pushed around.
  22. I have no concerns if Trestmen is the QB and offensive guru everyone states then he will have a plan and we probably won't overspend on a backup that was poor when asked to perform whether it was against the 49ers or not.
  23. 99% linebackers are a dime a dozen are you kidding me. Do the 49ers think linebackers is an unimportant position and the bears at there best had 2 top linebackers. Cap space always causes tough decisions and if all goes well we may have the best 3 we have had in years. I always wondered what it would be like to have 3 quality athletes after having triers like Hilenmeyer and Roach making up the numbers.
  24. If Stelz and Zbikowski are the same quality then we should be signing neither. UNTIL HARDIN WAS INJURED I HOPED STELZ WOULD GET CUT LAST SUMMER. I would be looking at signing cheap free agents to be improvements on what we have now. For instance can we pick up guards to get rid of Spenser and Ed Williams at the same or a cheaper salary.
  25. Is Craig Stelz still on the roster. Would Zbikowski be an upgrade I must admit I have never been impressed with Stelz he looks nothing more than a trier and does anyone know the salary difference if Stelz is on the roster. On a different subject it seems to have gone quiet on restructuring players like Peppers and Tillman.
