  1. Not sure of this year but usually there's 6 to 12 blue chip players and then the 30 to 40 fall in the next tier. I like you think the more players the better if the blue chip players are gone.
  2. The more input you get on different coaches perspective, good or bad, can help you going forward. All candidates not getting HC jobs, like you said are available to work here in a different job if the new HC desires that.
  3. Hopefully this time is different, I think they will grab a high level name and not the Browns or McCarthy. Also I wouldn't want Ron Rivera either..
  4. The draft room will have a better read on prospects. I'm not informed enough to know who is. We should be able to get 3 first day starters or at least start early in the year and the 72 pick a contributor.
  5. I read we have 10-41-42-72. That should be 4 high level contributors day 1.
  6. I don't like the massive list of candidates, and if McCarthy comes here I will take a hiatus on being a bear's fan.
  7. What we have seen is his late game ability to put us in a position to win despite the chaos around him. That's huge for a rookie. The right Coach will make him more consistent. I think him coming back and winning in GB boasts his confidence also. With all we can say good or bad, one thing is for sure, he's a tough SOB. A good trait for a QB. His ability to extend plays is also a great trait. Better runner that I originally thought.
  8. I have a lot of Packers fans friends and I get a whole off-season to screw with. For a bad season, I have a consolation prize.
  9. I'll take a win and drop one spot.
  10. That's a good season statically for a rookie but carrying the first pic in the draft stigma, it seems off. Has a bright future but it's not set in stone that he's generational.
  11. The Byard hit was worth watching this game by itself.
  12. He has some upside but not as a HC. Carroll, Gruden, Johnson or Vrabel would all be fine with me. No one knows how they will do until it happens.
  13. I heard the announcer say Byard is third in the league in tackling amongst all DBs. I didn't realize his contributions this year was very good.
  14. No kidding. In a league I Ied for most of the year and ended up 3rd, I took Anthony Richardson who bombed and took Mayfield as my #2 QB, it worked out.
  15. Poles carry responsibility for a lot of things that's happened but don't think his bosses are holding him responsible. I think if they were getting rid of him they would have already done it. So we have to hope he has learned from mistakes made. Ryan Pace totally screwed up here and went to work in ATL as president of football operations and seems to be helping them turn things around there. People learn from mistakes. The key is the coach choice.

I think they won't pay him the money he wants, with Rome and Kmet needing more targets that works out better . They will also draft a WR or bring in a Time Patrick type to be the 3rd WR.

That's the only way we can play it. Easy to say don't sign him but untill you replace with a high level rookie to eventually take his place, you make the OL worse. Another option is draft the LT of the future and move Kiran to LG in place of Jenkins and still draft a rookie. The Idea of 3 rookies starting may take time to learn the game and not be good. They need to sign a Trey Smith type and then figure what positions to draft. I don't see anyone giving Jenkins a big contact with his injury history but won't be here if you try to give 4-5 mil. I would say a per game incentive with a base 3 yr 18 mil to balloon to 36 if he plays 85% of snaps.

Here is our top free agents, who should we bring back? WR Kennan Allen DE Darrell Taylor OL Coleman Shelton OL Teven Jenkins RB Travis Homer TE Mercedes Lewis OL Matt Pryor DE Jacob Martin I think Shelton played well enough to bring back as a backup, Jenkins on a team friendly deal and Jacob Martin is a cheap backup that has shown some since coming off injury. He was making the vet roster salary. My biggest wish is bringing in Trey Smith. Poles was there when they drafted him. With the growth of Wright and stick Smith next to him we have a power spot on the OL.
  19. I dopnt know enough about Johnson's personality to see what kind of HC he would be. Staying with Detriot one more tells he didnt think he was ready yet and wanted to go to the SB with the Lions. That was a good sign. Vrabel is easy to read on his old school persona and would do fine. Hell both probably will excel as a HC here with a lot of good players.
  20. Yes my memories are failing as I turned 72. I mix stuff up all the time and got lazy to look it up.
  21. Happy new Year is all we have on the hopes of the Bears having a good team. I thought it was changing in 2024. I truly believe had the Hail Mary failed, we would have had a 5-2 record and maybe lost to AZ but would have beaten NE. We would have been 6-3 with the difficult schedule ahead od us. The team confidence went to hell, it took the team chemistry down with it. Every bad thing happened to us along the way. Even with failed coaching and all the injuries we probably would have finished with a winning record. The mental aspect of the game is under estimated on the effect of the team.
  22. I think they are going to bring back Poles or they would have already got rid of him. I think they extent him to match the new coach. He doesnt deserve a extention but until the ownership changes we are going to get chaos at the top. I will give him credit for one thing, he has not spent alot of big contracts on bad investments. Davis is the only terrible contract and he has an out in 2025. JJ, DJ Moore, Kmet, and Sweat were all good contracts on good players. As much as Edmunds is not worth what he is paid he is not a terrible player. He had great value with Edwards, Billings, Walker. Drafts has hits and misses. something other teams had we did not was 1st round choices that would be huge buiding blocks of any franchise. We did not have first round picks in 19-20 and 2022. 2017 and 2021 were Tribisky and Fields that failed. Thats 5 top picks that should be the strength of the team that Pace failed on. Poles came in here with a bad roster and terrilbe cap space. He gets credit for changing that around. AND the trade that got us Caleb will go down in history as the best Bear trade ever. The only way that goes bad is if Caleb fails and I dont think anyone here thinks that is going to happen. There is good and bad tied to Poles but he will be back so we dont have a choice but to hope he makes the right choice with the new coach.
  23. To be honest I expected to see Caleb look better towards the end of the season. Totally understand the rookie thing with bad coaching and jacked up OL but still expected him to grow as the season went on. With all the other rookie QBs seemly getting better as the season went on, (NE), (Atl) . Daniels started strong and leveled off and Nix had Payton coaching him. I expected we would see better rapport with his WRs, hold the ball less and learn to throw the ball away better. It didnt get better. Clearly Daniels is ROY and now opens up for discussion on who the best QB in the draft was. Caleb had flashes during the year which leaves us with the thought he will play much better in the future but I now have some doubt on (the greatness tag). There is only so much you can blame on coaching and OL.
