As we keep mentioning Williams as the generational QB, Maye may be the better QB in this draft after the dust settles. If comparing Williams , he is closer to Murray , than Mahomes. With all that is stated Williams is small for the position.
-
That was my whole point, people can win SBs without having a top pick tier one QB. It doesn't matter if it's rare , it matters the possibility exists. The SF situation applied to us would be , we drafted Williams, he sucks ( Trey Lance) and Bagent takes over and we go to the SB.
-
I wish you were we could a more serious conversation.
-
You ever notice, you keep having conflict on here with other people even when I'm not involved. You keep referring to me in posts but I no longer give a shit about you baiting me anymore. We have had football related interaction and it's went fine.
-
I already know you don't think Justin is getting better and wants change but you keep talking like it's not possible for that to happen. On the contrary, it can. Now if your comparison is always Mahomes, he's never going to be that but he can get better. Ceiling top 10? Purdy is going to the SB, and he's not a tier one QB so stuff like that does happen even if the odds are against it. If Poles trades him and he leads another team, you can still see his progress. If he fails we get to see that too. As much as I think he will succeed, I also accept he might fail.
-
I think the only thing today's games tells you is we are getting close. We can play with Detroit and they played well even though they lost. It showed you what a tier one QB looks like ( Mahomes) and what a 7 th round pick can do with a good team around him. I think Jackson sat in the pocket to long on many plays and should have went off script more. Mahomes did several times and it helped him win.

Poles totally knows what he's doing, he wanted Flus back. It's not like he's saying we need to see another year out of him then he'll judge his choice. You can have a different opinion on him but you're not the GM. His job depends on his choices, he is exercising his choices to build a team , he's not asking for fan input.
-
I'm not sure just giving your opinion is sacrificing anything . What happens if they play well and make the playoffs? I'm not guaranteeing anything but I thing what ever way they go, they're going to a winning team. IF they do play well, im not going to say( I told you so,) I only care that they win, it's not about me being right or wrong.

There's a lot more energy in playoff games, so you will notice another level of effort. Not sure why you even bother mentioning it because it doesn't pertain to anything. If we made the playoffs then you could compare. I don't understand your comment about other teams playing hard, you are always trying to make a comment mean more than it does. I think the team played hard every game, not sure how that says anything other than that. You keep trying to burn Flus down all the time, I get you don't like him but he is going to be our coach next year and nothing is going to change that. It's a mute point, see how he performs and then you have some substance in the conversation.

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
For sure their adding more depth on the oline besides a starting center. Taylor is a 3 T but another DT with Billings and Pickens on the team? I think Bowers will have more impact that another WR in his first year. -
You can be negative on a lot of things about Flus but saying the team didn't play hard is a little difficult to swallow.
-
Boy are you going to be pissed if Poles goes with Justin next year to go with keeping Flus.
-
QBs that can play off script are hard to find. A reason Poles may keep Justin here. He improves his pocket traits, unlimited upscale.
-
You're right I added it wrong it was 155 and 113. 268

Edmunds became more prevalent as the season went on. Between Edmunds and Edwards, this defense went from last in the league to first in the league in run defense. both are a big contributor to that . TOs increased, Edmunds 4 its and 1 FF. 7 PDs, Edwards 3 ints and 1 FF. 7 PDs . I contend everything is working out as planned. They did a great job. 368 tackles between them
-
I say this with complete honesty,if Williams is a generational talent , I want Poles to draft him. For me I don't like throwing the term around until I see more of the process.
-
I kinda agree with you, but assuming a QB is the next Manning is risky. So is it still worth it if he's Prescott or Cousins?
-
No GM is going to make every perfect move. SF traded 3 first round picks for Trey Lance and are in the NFC championship game right now with a 7 th round drafee at QB. It's all about winning, 2024 is when the fruits of Poles decisions will show up. High expectations in the 2 nd year is a little premature to make a judgement call.
-
Clearly you make your own judgement but Cliff Stein was loved by the McCaskeys and yet Warren got rid of him. Doesn't seem like the McCaskeys made that move. Flus is on a 4 year contract, no need to give him a contract now. Poles wants him here and their jobs are tied to each other now. I don't think he cares that you don't like it. So if we make the playoffs next year and go 11-6, will you change your mind about Flus?
-
With all that is going on with the Bears this season, you keep letting this bother you, I don't get it. You praise Poles on some things and then condemn him on hugging someone who you don't like, so it's inappropriate? If there was a video of him hugging DJ Moore, you would be saying what a down to earth GM he is for bonding with his team.
-
I'm not sure how to take this but the Bears put out a team promotional video that is all Justin Fields highlights. I guess the promotion department didn't get the memo.
-
No one has any idea how well this works out but on paper it looks like an upgrade. One year will tell us a lot about their ability.
-
I get the narrative , same old Bears but clearly the new people are running the team now, not the McCaskeys. So it's a different road we will be going down that may even end up being in the same place but is too early to tell. Stein being let go was a move the McCaskeys didn't like but it happened, proof their hands are off now. I remind people that a few years ago the Bears hired an offensive coach that was supposed to change everything. That didn't work out, the key is getting the right coach, I could care less if he's a O or a D, or STs. I just want a winner. One more year will prove if Flus is any good, clearly Poles thinks so.

There's a lot to talk about in the coming year but lets look at the good things that's happened in his first two years He took a terrible cap situation and turned that around in one year. We had the most cap space last year and top 9 this year. I think he cuts Whitehair and Jackson and adds 20 mil to our cap putting us top 5 . That's a win win. He took an old roster and ate lots of dead money to put us in a good space.Losing always comes with those decisions. In free agency he added ( core team players) Tremaine Edmunds, Demarcus Walker, TJ Edwards, Andrew Billings, Travis Homer, Karli Blasingame . In trades he got DJ Moore and Montez Sweat. In the draft : Brisker, Gordon, Braxton Jones, Darnell Wright, Dexter, Stevenson, Roshon Johnson, Elijah Hicks Sanborn, Terrel Smith, Tyson Bagent Trenton Gill Young unproven players: Tyler Scott, Doug Kramer, Ja'Tyre Carter, Noah Sewell, Zach Pickens, Jaylon Jones. This year he has pick 1 and pick 9, whatever he decides to do with the picks or trade them, it's going to be a positive. Also in 2025 we have an extra 2 nd round pick. I think he has done well in player acquisition so far with this year being the year we become a winning team. I think he makes another trade down this year for lots of draft capital and maybe another starter. His original plan was a 4 year rebuild and I think he sticks with the plan. He went from 3-14 to 7-10 ( should have been 10-7)and I think this year brings 10-11 wins and making the playoffs.
