Listening to Greg Gabriel podcast and he mentioned Aaron Brewer/Titans and Evan Brown from Seattle as center prospects. Upgrades over Patrick that won't break the bank. Then draft a OC, most rookies need time to develop. Jason Kelce was a 5 th round pick that blossomed later. Plus Brown worked with Waldron.

Who did we bring in that we were wrong on? Not sure who was last years acquisitions that failed.
-
That would workout but won't happen while Flus is here.
-
His base was 3-4 but they were in a 4-2 with the nickel back 60% of the time. Vic was a very good coach but his philosophy is quite different from Flus, it won't happen.

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!

First of all none of our opinions matter, only the regime in power that dictate that. We get to see how the Flus decision plays out on live TV, since he's not going anywhere. I think it turns out well but time will tell. Same with the QB decision, I trust Poles to do the right thing. If it's Williams, im all in , I'm not going to be Mr negative because he didn't keep Fields . I'll wait and see the results of that decision. I want my team to be successful, I don't have to be right about my opinion. -
Nobody pursuing the OC job is going to say, I'm only taking the job if so and so is the QB. They know they don't get to choose. The best thing they can sell is they are flexible with different QBs.
-
Also by NO, but not sure of the other team.

I have found in the sports journalism world unless you're talking to a person in the meeting, you're getting opinions from journalists looking for clicks. 2_nd hand knowledge is never accepted in a court of law but on social media as being fact. Unless you find several sources pertaining to a subject, it's always made up bullshit. I only believe info if I see it several times. So now unless I see at least two sources, I don't mention it. I'm positive they were ask about their opinions on both Fields and every draft able QB. No candidate is going to call Fields a terrible QB or even a draftee. They give them an opinion based on their interaction with each player. They may like one better than the other but the language will never put Flus in a position to defend him.

Every situation is different but there's times that teams get very good. It's not black and white. -

I'm thinking more stuff should be posted here instead spread around on other threads. A lot of people say Flus is a lame duck coach? If I remember, Poles got 5 years, Flus 4 years, did I get that wrong ? If people are saying it on the basis of him being bad, the team if trending to a winning season if Poles adds as much talent as he did in 2023. I think it can easily be stated we're going to have more wins than losses. Now if we draft a QB and we get a Byce Young performance, Poles job will start to be in jeopardy which takes down Flus also. That's why I'm thinking Poles stays according to his plan than flipping QBs. I also believe he adds a QB to develop as early as the second round to cover both scenarios. -
Yes, I think a few draft picks came from there and undrafted free agents.

Which Rookie QB should we draft to replace Fields?
Stinger226 replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
If Fields is judged as a flawed QB, why would NE do that when they can get one of the top 2 QBs in the draft? I like playing fantasy football but that's a little bit of a stretch. Plus with the success of Stroud, it ain't happening. -
That's a good list but by recent history , Poles is only signing one expensive FA and I think it's going to JJ. I think he can get a OC and FS at reasonable gets but most of that list will cost to much. Realistically a Lloyd Cushenberry , Cutris Samuel and Xavier McKinney.

It might end up a Jalen Carter and Wright scenario, both end well. -
Not sure I understand your statement. Poles was from KC and Flus was at Indy, are you talking about players? Chris Harris did interview but hasn't been hired yet.
-
I think Poles knows what he's doing and advising Flus with the hires. So far things seem to be looking positive.
-
I think the point he wast rying to make with lots of information about the draft yet to obtain that GMs aren't going to make personal decisions in January. A lot of people on X said he was talking about Parkins but I think he was talking about Bernstein. Parkins said he would like Waldron, Bernstein said he didn't want him. Greg had made comments about Bernstein before, I don't think he likes him. Not sure of his opinion on Parkins, he has been on their show before.
-
Does anyone here follow Greg Gabriel on X? He called out Dan Bernstein on the SCORE for saying ( no one any good would come here) when we arguably got one of the top 3 choices for OC available. Bernstein thinks anyone that doesn't agree with his opinion is a dumbass. Almost a!ways wrong. He said Poles wouldn't bring Flus back. He thinks their drafting Williams also, probably wrong about that too.
-
I think he's going to the best package available, you can never tell where someone will be drafting next year. Houston wasn't preceived to be good yet and who thought NE would be that bad with Belicheck there. If they take a player back, I think a OL in a rookie contract. Drew Dalmam and Matt Bergeron were players that ended up starters. Both played well last year. Isn't that where Chris Morgan came from?

Shane has a good history but we won't know what he's capable of until we see him in games. I liked that he worked with veterans and made them better. When says a lot about his football IQ. It's different people running the Bears now so none of our past history carries any merit. When Warren let Stein go , beloved by the McCaskeys, we now know none of the same old Bears applies. Clearly now we know that this job was rated a good job to come to, not a bad place to avoid. The fact that Poles is loyal to Flus tells coaches they get respect here. If Olson follows to the Bears, they will be up to speed quicker and the offense will be able to rock out of the gate.
-
They might but I doubt it. Whatever they decide a blue chip DL, WR-TE will be huge for the future of this team. Next for me will be OC, which will go in the second and third rounds. So that is doable. Also FS upgrade which I think could be in free agency. Free agency will help decide what we do early in the drafft. A TJ Edwards type signing at OC and FS will change the importance in the draft.

That's fair, clearly Justin is not an above average passer but his worst critics will say he has gotten better but , as of now, its not good enough. Can he get better? We will see next year with a competent play caller and more weapons. Whether here or somewhere else. People are criticizing Fields on the assumption he can't get better, totally believe he can.
