Bears looking for one more wideout in free agency…
Stinger226 replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I would say 1 OL, 1 or 2 DL and 72 will be the wildcard pick. Our free agent additions were not all young guys, so I see high picks adding to our trenches that need depth and replacement players. I still think trade backs will add a couple picks for other positions. -

Devin Duvernay is now a bear. 4.39 speed. -
I think if Stromberg is healthy, he could be sitting on the practice squad if needed.

I'm referring to coach Johnson playing 2 backs Swift and drafted player. -

If Simmons wasn't injured I think he would be the clear #1 LT but he was and many teams will move down board for that factor. Risk factors come in to play that high. Banks looked great his first 5 games, and when he came back very average, risk factor. Membou has the charm of playing great for 4 years but was never a LT, it wouldn't bother me if we did draft him. If I could pick our path and choices, I would move back once or twice and choose Zabel in the late first round, then the DT that drops or TJ Sanders and then Landon Jackson. The extra 2nd or 3rd round trade back pick would get me Junkins or Skattebo. My is 4 picks scenario.

There is a handful of sure top 10 by most pundits. After that every team has a different board. I still think trenches is the priority moves early. Campbell is a top 10 pick and if available a strong possibility but I think he's gone by 10. Edge and DT fall in line next. After Carter Pierce seems to be the next choice of which is possible. DT has several potential top 10 choices Graham, Nolen, Grant are our most likely picks for us. Thuney is still a one year deal. Jackson has some injuries to have risks. Jarrett is older. I think we double down somewhere there. Since LTs are limited I think the BPA will be a DL guy. It's fun to think RB, TE and WR but I don't think we do.

I'm a gambler, I would bet money no WR. No one knows what Poles will do, but risk factor for me is very small I lose money.

I think it may affected our season in some small way.

Another Pickens that appears out the door for us may end up staying. I heard he did the same body regiment that Dexter did but with the injuries affecting him showed nothing last year. If healthy he may very taking a leap forward this year. I think because of the bad year, we look down on all our rostered players coming back. I think we get a few surprises on people playing well that we wrote off. Pickens, Scott, Booker, Cris Williams. A few of these are going to stick and play well. Just don't know which ones it will be. I don't understand why we brought back Kramer while we count on Stromberg as our back up center. Maybe until Stromberg proves he can play healthy the back up backup plan.

I agree with all of that which also means we won't be drafting a WR at 10.

No matter who you draft at RB, Johnson is going to share the position. Atlanta drafted Robinson high and he hasn't been a different maker as far as wins. We aren't in the timeline to add a load back, to many other weaknesses right now. -
That would be a good draft, don't think we draft a S first but Poles is always going to surprise us.
-
I always like your sensabilty. LB? That's never going to happen. We could upgrade at many positions but LB isn't a weakness. We are not into upgrading strengths in our process timeline. I totally believe DT is the spot to get a true difference maker. I would take any of those DTs, 3 of 4 should be there. Baun was a prove it LB last year for eagles, played great on the cheap and got some money now. We are going over the skis drafting to strengths. I still think we add a high profile multiple position OL in the second round to build the depth going forward. The only OL at 10 is Campbell and no one else. Simmons and Banks are the only true LTs and I don't think valued at 10. Now if we move back, anything is on the table because we also add picks. RB is very deep and a waste at 10 for a back that will fit in a 2 back system. Trenches still has to be the priority for the first few picks. If we draft a RB, TE, WR, I'll like it but it can't be the priority. Here's a video that touches on all of thoughts. Zimmerman and Brad Biggs. Very interesting

QBs always make GMs stupid.

With the effort their making in free agency at WR, I don't see a high pick in the draft going to WR. Warren would be a more versatile weapon if they don't go trenches,

Between him and Henderson, he's the one to buy. I like Skattebo that I think can be gotten in the 3rd. Actually there are quite a few good backs this year. Brugler thinks there could be 25 drafted. We resigned Travis Homer for ST. Not sure if Wheeler sticks with the team but he's still here. -
I think you're pretty spot on with the roster evaluation but what does Johnson place more value on for players we need to upgrade. We can probably upgrade with the first 3 or 4 picks and after that develop type players. The draft will tell the story. We're all guessing at this point.
-
I don't disagree of his talent. Depending on how you view Travis Hunter, McMillan is the top WR in the draft, that's speaks a #1 to me. If this drafts WR class isn't rated very good then that would make me wrong.

I think adding to the WR room is just throwing darts at the board and see what scores a hit. I also think it means they're not taking a WR with a high pick. We need upgrade at several spots less talented that the receiving core. How many teams go 3 deep in stud WRs? With DJ and Odunze that is expected and Kmet is a potential top 10 TE. Add 2 RBs than can catch and that's a good offense. When the roster is more talented you should add weapons. Also Johnson is strong into the running game. Zach is a functional 3rd WR that's a good fit. -
My point was we draft another #1 type WR or another #1 TE, it takes away from people we have in place to thrive, better spent on other positions that doesn't have as good of talent. More about value of the pick than to much competition.
-
I'm saying the Bears aren't going to do that, Johnson played St Brown in the slot 80% last year. I think DJ Moore is the St Brown in this offense. Odynze and DJ should both have over a 1000 yds this year. I have to go back and look didn't you suggest we draft McMillan?
-
It's not about where he plays it's another top 10 WR pick. I just don't think they do that. A blue chip DT or a third WR?
-
I think drafting another #1 type WR when you have 2 on the roster will slow down the development of Odunze. I don't see 2 WR picks in the first round 2 years in a row. They will address another position. I think the second T off the board will be Membou. Banks will be first round but not top 15.
