I think he keeps Monty but if he moves on , several good RBs in mid rounds. Chase Brown, Chris Rodriquez, Kenny McIntosh, Duece Vaugh. Watch tape on Rodriguez from Kentucky, he's impressive.
-
I agree, he doesn't make enough wow plays to merit being the highest paid off LB. If Sanborn plays the whole yr, I think his stats will be similar to Roquan at under 1 mil. I think Poles knows what he's doing around a draft table. He got 5 starters out of his first draft W/O a first round pick.

Is there problems with the website or is it me because I'm in Thailand? It's happened several times.

Last year we needed OL and WR and Poles drafted two DBs. At the top of the draft are 2 DTs and several Edge rushers. I think the first pick will fall there if BPA is still Poles style. If we trade out of top top 6 that could change. Free agency comes before the draft, who he grabs there will affect his first pick. DE and WR are weak in FA.

I was thinking if we get the daily double ( two trades) we should make them throw in players. Trade with Houston, make them add Keynon Green/LG, he was the highest rated OG in the draft last year, picked at 15_in first round. That means we could move on from Whitehair at cheaper money with big upside. Trade with Indy and have them throw in Alex Pierce/ WR, young , fast and cheap for a few years. High upside.

Both QBs were drafted in 2020. Last year the Jaguars had the second most money in FAgency to spend. They had picks, 1--20--65--70 took edge Travon Walker, LB Devin Lloyd, OC Luke Fortner, LB Chad Muma. In Free Agency : Brandon Scheff (all pro OG), Oluokun ( ( leading tackler in 2021 NFL), Fatukasi/ DT (above average), Kirk/ WR ( high #2 ), Zay Jones/ WR, Evan Engram/ TE. They needed to rebuild their OL and WR, add playmaker. Sound familiar? They added 2 starters on their OL and Kirk, Jones and Engram. We have more work on defense but offensively we have already started with bringing in Claypool in the mix. The key will be what Poles does on the OL. Engram is a FA , so we can have him if we want. I doubt they let him leave , he helped turn them around. The last two years, Engram had 119-1174-7. The last two years Kmet 110-1156-7. We have our TE. Kirk got paid 17 mil but I don't think anyone considers him a #1 even thou he had 84-1108-8. Both Mooney and Kirk had similar numbers in 2021. I think Mooney could have similar numbers next year. They made the playoffs this year in a lousy division. Our road will be harder but we could win more than we lose next year. 9-8.

I've been watching all the film on Pittman and Pierce I could find. Pittman has better hands but they are similar players. Pierce is faster and young. Pittman will be 26 in his last yr of contract. OTC has his value at around 15 mil. I think Poles would ask for Pierce in a deal because Pittman would give him another WR contract he would have to deal with this yr. Pittman was rated higher coming out 4.52 speed and good hands but Pierce has upside. I doubt Indy would throw in 2 high level players, but I would ask for Kenny Moore, productive, knows Flus system already NC.

There are things about PFF that bother me but they are a site that you can use to compare players. In a couple of categories, Jones was the 12th rated OT in the league. Also ESPN has some run and pass win rates, where he was top 6 in both categories. Compared to first round rookie OTs , they all had some struggles. Poles is going with him for another year and I think he will improve. He literally played every snap, in these days that's rare. Jenkins still has health questions, so pencil him in but Poles will add a backup plan to cover if he fails. Don't know anything about Kramer at OC but Poles must think he has something to offer. He adds 2 vets and one high draft pick and sorts out the top 5 from there.

Step one who do we extend ( current players on the roster)

I was using (over the cap) valuation for contracts. Not sure how accurate they will be. -
Poles is going to address who he wants to keep before going into free agency. David Montgomery Poles already said he loves what he brings to the team: work ethic, leadership, toughness. Because of a gluten of RBs, he'll sign for a team friendly deal. Say 4- 27 mil with 14 guaranteed / last year void able. Essentially 3- 20 mi Cole Kmet. Poles called him a blue chip player say 4- 37 mil 16 guaranteed He brings back DHC 2- 5 mil Tevor Wesco - vet minimum Josh Blackwell - vet minimum Armon Watts- vet minimum Byron Pringle- 3 mil with no guarantee_( will let him prove himself)

I agree, they are developing Fields and more so because of the oline , it has been disrupted. Once the line is good his passing will take off. That's why I think the Oline will be improved in free agency instead of waiting for high draft picks to develop. I believe Poles does know how to build a oline. He offered more money for Brian Allen than LA but he chose to stay in LA. He made an offer for Joe Noteboom but the Rams offered more, then the Ryan Bates attempt. Brian and Joe got injured, so hard to compare to them but had he got them, it would have been a good line. B Jones was an outstanding get as a 5th round pick, he will get better. Moving Jenkins could turn him into an top tier RG if he can stay on the field.

You want to know what the stadium looks like, go to Minnesota. It holds 66667 normally and can be expanded to 73000 for a Superbowl event.
-
The best scenario is trade to 2 and still get one of the blue chip players, Anderson or Carter. The chances of two high trades are slim. There will be one QB that everyone will want.

Actually we are the only team that had 3 selections , most were first rounders. Big win for Poles. This was PFF rookie team, so take it for what it's worth. Brisker was the 10th highest rated safety in the NFL this year, that's pretty impressive. Had 28 defensive stops whatsoever that means. Sanborn was an UDFA and Jones a 5th round pick. That's good drafting. Sanborn only played in 6 games, if he played the whole year, he would have been the second ranked LB in the league by their stats.
-
I mentioned Pittman before but he will be do a big contract next year. I'll take either one. Both have size. Poles took BPA at the time, we don't know if he liked him or not. If Poles asks Indy to throw in trade, I don't think Colts are killing the trade because of Pierce.
-
Flus is big on TOs and Jackson was playing at a pro bowl level. I think he's here one more year. Whitehair may be the gone, if he can get a replacement of equal talent. If post June cut he only cost 4.7 mil. He may find a vet for 10 mil , the savings if cut. We have a lot of holes to fill not sure he wants to create more holes, we need to be more competitive with 2 yrs left on Justin's contract. Bengals added 3 new starters this yr and there were still bad but are starting to play better now. It just takes some time even with upgrades. Just seen B Jones, Gordon, and Brisker made the all rookie team.

Like AZ mentioned, I don't think Poles takes on a big contract for an aging veteran. DeBuckner and Nelson are paid a lot. Both have fallen off from their original status. Nelson will cost a dead cap hit of 24 mil if traded because he got a new contract last year. Are they better than what we have, absolutely. He mentioned Alec Pierce, he's young and cheap and Kenny Moore on his last year of deal. Both would be a nice addition. Not sure if Pierce will be a #1 but will upgrade the WR room. 41-593-2.
-
Of course, my point is the season ended 5 minutes ago and he's working.
-
Poles have already started the 2023 roster by signing ESB for next year. Also signed 9 future contract players. Dauice Fountain/WR Donovan Jeter/DL Chase Allen/TE Asian Colbert/CB Kuony Deng/LB Kellen Diesch/OL Geri Green/DL Jack Tonges/TE Nsimba Webster/WR

Roquan signs largest LB contract ever - somewhere Saint Omni is smiling
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Glad to see it for Roquans sake. Roquans a stud but we will get similar production for under 1 million a year, Jack Sanborn. I don't think Poles is ever going to be like Pace handing out big money contracts to everyone. -
Not sure he trades for any player with that kind of contract that Nelson has. 12, 25,22,24 over the next 4 years. That's LT money for a RG with Jenkins looming as a the long term starter. Like AZ suggested, ask for Alec Pierce, young and cheap with potential. I think there is only a few positions he pays big money for, QBs , LT , pass rushers.
-
I think you're spot on. Poles comes across to me as being smart. Since he has identified his QB, its obvious that he needs a better OL and a pass rush. I think he attacks the OL in free agency instead of a few high draft picks and then go thru their growing pains. He let Daniels walk planning on the Ryan Bates experiment, that didn't work out. Bates has played well this year so he identified the right person anyways. He may let Whitehair go if he can upgrade with a valued vet. He will draft one that can play several spots in case a vet fails, can plug in and play. He will bring in 4 new starters on the front 7, A few FAs and then a couple draftees. This year was an evaluation time for him. I don't think he values the LB position as high. Maybe Morrow will be back or a Bobby Okereke that played under Flus in the same system. He'll bring in a CB but I think all the starters are all ready here. He'll bring Pringle back and grabs a Darius Slaton type to compete with V Jones in the slot. Then drafts one. I think he keeps Monty on a team friendly deal and brings in a rookie to compete with Ebner at RB 3. He'll bring in another TE but Kmet is the main target. The key to a winning season will be because of the growth of Fields.
-
I think Poles won't wait for a couple draft picks on there learning curve. I think he brings in 2 vets to stabilize the OL right now. I think Jenkins still has questions, he had back problems and now with his neck. But he still has Patrick if healthy can replace Jenkins if he don't work out. I think Whitehair stays this yr unless J Carter is ready to play. He has Patrick and Kramer to back up at OC.
