  1. I think Blair Nichols is going to end up contributing a lot this year, enough that they dropped J Jenkins who instantly got picked up.
  2. With total high expectations, even if they win, I will have some disappointment. Only blowing them out will satisfy my excitement. I have never told anyone that I thought I was very smart. I see the first play on offense: RIII and Gabriel sprinting downfield, Miller and Burton going underneath routes and Tariek Cohen coming out of the backfield to take a pass and going all the way.
  3. I think with the improvement of the front 7, he probably more than anyone will see a uptick in performance. You have to worry about the OLBs, Hicks and will be getting more from the right side I think with R R-H than Bullard. He should be single team every time and that will bode well for his performance. I know NTs don't usually see a large stat sheet, but the best in the league are better pass rushers than Goldman.
  4. If I am drunk on Koolaid, I say we win 38-23 but the sober me suspects 24- 16 Bears. Defense starts to shine, offense starts to show some pop.
  5. I would have liked him to have taken the next step forward before a big contract. I am not saying he is bad, but with that kind of contract, I would expect better stats.
  6. I would love to see 38- 23 but realistically it all comes down to being mistake free and having only a few penalties. I suspect their will be some turnovers and those will tell the story.
  7. This is what Pace has did in his 4th year for our starters, their are some competent backups but it is far from perfect, enjoy the good. Burton is going to be a top 6 TE, sometimes you have to look at the system and the intent , it isn't all black and white. Sims is a good blocker but is not your pass catching TE although he can do that. He sucked last year because he wasn't used properly.
  8. I am drinking a lot of blue and orange colored liquid. I see us as 10 to 11 wins this year. This sounds stupid for predictions but after going 3-1 in the first quarter of games, you guys will understand where I am coming from. Mack and the D will put the offense in great field position for most of games and Nagy will know what to do in the red zone this year after the grey Fox put us into a coma.
  9. first of all, the price, the contract doesn't matter because the most important players on this team are far away from a second contract. MT-Floyd-Smith- Miller(yet to be proven). This put us in the position to be the elite defense in the league. Bringing Mack in will line Floyd up to make a pro bowl with all attention going to Mack. Pressure from both sides. Smith will develop into a pro bowl player, making potentially 3 pro bowl LBs with Trevathan as a very good player still. Then we have 2/3 of a stellar DL with Hicks , Goldman and the developing Bullard or Roy R-H. Our DBs ended up being a strength of the D last year and they will have another year together. Barring injuries, defense will rock. Imagine Hicks and Mack on the right side tearing up the OL. As far as the draft picks we are virtually trading Mack for 2019 first rounder. We give up a 2020 for a second and a 3rd for a conditional 5th. Considering we will be drafting no lower than a 15 in the next few years, and Raiders will have higher picks, this trade does not look as a bad value at all. Remember we are getting a top 5 player in return that is being put on a Vic Fangio defense, that will be like Fangio going to heaven. Mack-Floyd-Smith-Hicks- Goldman, this is an elite defense and Fangio will know how to use them. Give this 2 weeks for Mack and Smith to blend in before the monsters come to play every Sunday.
  10. So anyone guess the player traded? I'll go out on the limb and say Nick WIAT
  11. I have never seen Ryan Pace naked but I bet he has big balls.
  12. Does anyone want to complain about Cam Merideth not being here anymore? He had 2 catches for 72 yards and a TD for the preseason. I think he does okay but his injuries has limited his playtime in the preseason. On the otherhand, had we kept him, we may not have taken Miller in the second and definitely not Wims in the 7th. I will have to say those 2 will be core players going forward thanks to that decision that I as well as others complained about. a few notes: Wims could be very good. Blair Nichols can play. Coward will be our starting RT next year. I think Nall takes Michel Burtons spot on the roster.
  13. I think they keep him instead of Burton as a FB. Adds more versatility at that position. If Howard would get injured, he would be more suited for the starter role than Cohen or Cunningham.
  14. There is no QB controversy, it is absurd to think that. What I do like is to see if MT misses some time, Daniel can handle the position. MT is the starter for many reasons. If their was a controversy , we would have seen MT for Nagy to figure it out. He already knows who is the best QB. If you want to figure it out, look at Chases history in the NFL and it will tell you a story.
  15. I think all of our running backs seem to be looking for a roster spot. Who makes it: Howard Cohen Cunningham Mizzel Nall Davis I might have to say, Davis makes the cut being Nagy brought him here, Howard, Cohen and Cunningham. Nall to practice squad.
  16. I would have rather seen the starters, but if our backups look good, I say that is a good sign. Game scheming seems to be getting people open no matter who they are. Our 2nd stringers seem to be much better than the 3's. Success breeds success. Wims lets me forget about Meredith and reminds me of Jeffery, am i drinking to much cool aid.
  17. Our backups taking it to KCs starters, things looking good. I keep seeing Irving all over the place, may have found our other OLB.
  18. broken fingers is not a knee or shoulder but it will affect the use of his hands in a pass rush. I heard and interview that said with surgery today, he has time to know have to wear a cast on his finger in the first game. We will see.
  19. A few names that stuck out to me. Burton, Miller and Blial Nickols. He looks like he can play. Coward also shows he can play OT. I personally would rather have him start and live with his rookie mistakes than Massie.
  20. Deal is done today, will not play this week, hopefully some next week, surely week 5.
  21. After such a good day from Nall, we go out and sign Knile Davis former chief.
  22. I think we just have a long way to go yet for this to function like a well oiled machine. I agree the OL did not look good, but Gino Atkins is a beast and will make anyone look bad. The positives, Shaheen, Daniels, Coward, Nall and Nichols. The only preseason game that matters to me is when everyone will play in the 4th preseason game . The rest is just seeing positives from the younger players. I think Nall is competing against Burton for a spot, there is no way they keep 4 RBs and a FB with the strength of the TE spot.
  23. I am going to a Cubs game on Labor day, so that would be a bad day for me for the draft.
  24. The kind of contract would be detrimental at this time in the development of the team. You got this guy coming in with a huge contract , it would later affect every contract going forward for our core players. It would put everything out of wack. Mack is the type of player you take when you made the playoffs and need to take that final step to get to the super bowl. We are 2 years away from that . Smith is going to be a stud once he gets in here, and as good as Mack is we can still get a lot better without him.In the last two years Mack has had 10.5 and 11 sacks playing from the DE position in their defense. Will that translate in the OLB position in our defense?
  25. I thought getting a stud player with good character and a hard worker would be no problem being into camp. I think the CAA put the on field hits into the contract and the Bears caved in to get him in to camp. Then CAA added other parameters into it because they saw a pushover in negotiations and this is where we are at. Smith has say so but not like he has ever did this before and is in a catch 22 situation. I see him being in camp within a week, pushing this to the limit doesn't bold well for either side. The extra practice time because of the HOF game puts this is more public place but one week will still be plenty of time to get acclimated to the NFL and start.
