  1. The question is when he gets mucho snaps does that make him a stud or does he just look good. He had a hell of a defense he played with, he wasnt the OLs focus. Here he would be the man.The most he has had in a full season is 9, to me that doesnt seem worth the contract you suggested in the other post. A good player, for sure, a star, I dont seem getting a whole lot better. I want him to come here but dont think Emery will be willing to pay that much for him.
  2. I think your right about the called back play I think this is just his opinion, our local team writers have a better sense to this that Rapoport.
  3. As much as you were detail oriented, we wont be dipping into Cutlers contract(defeats the purpose of doing it) if Bennett is that expensive, he wont be here(I would like him here, just dont see Phil spending that much on him) we wont be bringing in Joe Morgan, we have Wilson and several options with future contracts(think Cris Williams) if they play with the cap money and wait to cut Peppers we can add another 4 1/2 mil to the pie I dont think they will give 5 mil to McCown( to much money tied up in QBs, they will find another McCown type to fill the spot) I like your names but would prefer Stevie Brown to Husain I prefer other Ss before I would get to Brooks--- Bucannon,Reynolds, and Bailey You did a good job with this, but suspect things will fall different, Phil is full of surprises
  4. TT doesnt like anybody, so dont let his opinion bother you.
  5. Here is the lasted Mock draft from GBND site that are run by ex scouts. http://www.gbnreport.com/3-roundprojection.html This isnt the most mass information type site like a Walters, or Draft Tex, but do like what they have to say.

    What if?

Since the best draft teams take the BPA regardless of position. What if? one of the 3 OTs fall to us-Robinson-Mathews-Lewan (getting a top 10 LT that would move Bushrod to the right side, cant be all bad for a improving OL) What if? Barr or Mack drop to us- they are both 3-4 OLBers.( consistent top10 players that can rush the QB but are strictly 3-4 backers) What if? Watkins or Evans drops to us( these are elite type WRs and not sure we could pass them up) I would not like to consider any of those possibilities, but one of those situations could come up. I would think someone would be willing to give us lots of draft picks to grab one of those top 10 type players. That would be my choice and then address the D with those picks. What say you
  7. Here is a latest mock from NFL Mocks. It doesnt address the DT spot quick enough but if we resign Melton, Ratliff, and another FA Dt this draft would work. http://nflmocks.com/2014/03/03/chicago-bea...2014-nfl-draft/
  8. No way they pay Bennett 10 mil to come here. Peppers was effective in 3 and a half games and had the same number of sacks. If his price is driven up, we are out. I hope we can get him done at a contract of 3 years 25 mil with 5 going against the cap this year. We absolutely need a good DE coming out of the FAgency period. We have nothing at DE when we release Peppers. If we designate him for the June 1 release it will 14 mil in available cap space.
  9. How does Palmer not fall in the same position that Josh was in? Josh had more games played, but both guys have had lackluster careers. His last college football season, Jordan had 67% ,3500 yards and 26 TDs. He has some ability and there is a reason he keeps hanging around our team. I think he gets his shot at role #2.
  10. The littles guys I suggest arent replacing Bushes role, but filling a different one. I think this role could get 10-15 plays a game and takes some of the wear off of Forte. The big back theory hasnt worked, I would rather have Forte at the goal line. We still have a fullback on the roster, and give him some of those carries in short runs.
  11. There are many less expensive options than those two. Delmars Whitner Cleamons Bethea Brown- this is my choice to go after-had a great 2012 but was injured last year-the youngest of this group
  12. Your positions are correct for drafting in the 1st 4 rounds but after that , I wouldnt have any problem if in the next 3 spots we took a QB,RB and TE. The key to all speculation is who we sign in FAgency, which is a week away.
  13. I looked at all the DEs in the league and I think with his ability he will be anywhere from 6.5 to 8.5. Where the problem comes in is if one teams thinks he is worth the top end of that range, which I think will price him out of our budget.
  14. Didnt know where to put this, so just went new. Orakapo has been tagged as well as Hardy earlier. That leaves Bennett Houston Johnson as top level DEs that are left. I suspect they all get greater offers than we will suspect. SO we should target a FA of lesser valve or resign Wootten and grab one in the draft. We have to resign a couple of our own FAs and then fill in with some cheaper FAs because the draft will only bring us probably one quality recruit to start.
  15. I think we WILL draft a QB so having 4 QBs is a luxury.
  16. A cheap FA or late round still gives us many spots to fill defense
  17. you make a good point but I dont consider Rosario a #2, he would be my 3. A two TE set with another good passing option would add a lot to our developing offense. I say all of this with the thought that we resign Melton, Ratliff, and possibly Wootten.
  18. Ok I will, I think we bring back Palmer as our experienced vet and draft a guy to work with. If Freeman had anything going for him he would have least had shown something in his stint in Minn.
  19. I think the possiblity exists but with a deeper draft, teams wont be paying so much to move up. I think Melton does come back on a incentive laden contract. We need the depth and his potential We will be bringing in a QB prospect because I dont think Josh takes the money we offer. I think McCellin is a better LB than DE but wont be playing much. Will be cut after this year.
  20. Its not a priority but think we fill that spot some where, why not add some one that can make a two TE set more of a danger,Britton filled that role last year as a blocker. A late round pick will not be starting who ever we pick.
  21. Forte has been a very good player for us but will be 29 during this football season. RBs start to hit the wall once they hit 1500 carries and Matt is at 1506, with 341 receptions. I think they start to take some of the carries away as they try to get two more years out from him and diversify the offense a little more in its second year. I dont think we go after anybody in FA, we will cut Bush(to much money). We have Ford, and will remain one of our backups but think we draft a compliment player to Forte. I think it will only be a 6th round type that will be able to be a backup RB and also play some slot WR. If Thomas/Ore or Archer/KS last until the 6th round, we will make that selection to add speed and another dimension to our offense. other late round possibilities McKinnon/GS- has some speed and was a productive college RB Perkins/MSU- has some speed and can catch the ball out of backfield Josey/Miso- some speed, and was a productive player on a high end offense in college
  22. We still have a spot to fill as an effective TE in our #2 Slot Options in FAgency: Jeff Cumberland/Jets- young with upside Garrett Graham/Hou- young and can catch the ball Quarlles/GB--young has shown some upside Draft: C.J. Fiedorowicz/Iowa- I think our first 3 picks will all be defense, but from the 4th on anything goes Rodgers/Cal- good athlete, speed, good upside Grimble/USC- good athlete, can catch the ball, good upside, speed Lynch/Geo-can block and shown he can catch the ball Gilmore/CS-impressed at Senoir Bowl- I think we draft him in 5th if we dont get a FA
  23. I think Emery is not going to be willing to spend the money on our backup. McCown probably gets a 2 year 4 to 5 mil and is to rich for Bears. Some one drafting a rookie QB will pay to get insurance. teams for McCown: TB, they could use a good backup with Glennon still developing on the job, plenty of cap space, Lovie throws a dig to the Bears organisation, closer to home Jacksonville, they will draft a QB and Josh would be a good fall back if the rookie needs time to grow, closer to home, plrnty of cap space FA options: I think Jordon Palmer comes back on a vet min deal AND we draft a developmental QB 4th round and below; A.J. McCarren/Ala Aaron Murray/Geo Logan Thomas/VT Brett Smith/Wyo Fales/SJS Wennings/BS I think we end up with Murray in 5th or Wennings is 6th
  24. We need to find a lot of min salary guys, so we can at least make a couple of pricey moves in FAgengy.
  25. Cool, we may be able to be in a good place yet.
