  1. If we sign Pace, I doubt if he would be a backup. If he ends up here, could mean we wont be taking a OT till the 5th or 6th with a couple of years to develope a raw prospect.
  2. I get into the draft and a lot of publications have as a knock on him is his passion for the game and football intelligence. There are some rated better than him that could be had there. Watkins/Flor, Fulton/Ill, and Kropog/Tulane.
  3. I rarely agree with your opinions, but you did a good job on that.
  4. I hate to say it, but that is the best mock I've seen.
  5. I was throwing it out there for discussion, if it might make our team better I would be for it.
  6. I was reading where KC doesnt think Glenn Dorsey fits in his new 3-4 sceme at NT. They traded there #2 for Cassel, so would you make the trade for Dorcey with our #1? I know that isnt an area of need, but Dorcey is rated to be a all-pro type and with the questions around Harris would they consider it? With no second would the Chiefs do that? Or maybe even offer them a 2? and would that be done.
  7. I think the best thing about Shaffer is tons of experience. They makes him smart, and puts him a better choice than St Clair would have been. He has had good moments and some bad, but now he has to prove himself and should spark his best effort. He has a nasty side so it should align him with Olin to add some smack to the offensive running game.
  8. I dont think Duke is a 1st rounder. Maybe the best OG but no more than a 2nd rounder. I have read much on the draft and other than the top 12 players, questions abound about all of them. I think he would still be there with our 2 nd round pick.
  9. I think they would project a WR in rd 3 but doubt if they would rate 2 so closely for valve. I think they will also draft a DE and maybe in the 4th or 5 th go with another WR. Lets say they pick Massaquoi or Gibson for our PWR in rd3 and Wallace/Ole Miss or Knox/AbCris for a speed guy in a later rd. Both are 4.3+.
  10. I agree on those two not being there, and would perfer a different FS in the third.
  11. If we fixed the OL for years to come, I would be ok with that. I dont think you can fix everything in one year anyways. Dont you think Buening will be competing for Garzas spot this year? He was a starter and is 20lbs heavier than Garza. The upgrade may already be on the roster in Buening. The only reason he out in Tampa was an injury and should be fully recovered now.
  12. After more I read, I agree that Johnson and Delmas are the class of the draft, the only reason I put Byrd there is he is rated high, and his dad is on the coaching staff, so I figured they might address the FS with him. Also Mo was a captain of the team and very definitely would be a better choice. Do you think since we signed Schafter, they might have a different thought on who they draft first?
  13. There is a chance a high draft pick may not start right away either. I think the best we can do is bring in a couple of more bodies, perferable high picks and hope it can jell with the other additions. I think the biggest thing is, if the OL is bigger it will make a difference in the running game right away and hope it jells into a better than average line.
  14. I was reading that although he didnt play well in 2008, the main reason they got rid of him was he was due 6 million next year. They cut him and tried to resign him. He was a left tackle in Atlanta and played well in 2007.
  15. He is a similar player to St Clair, execpt younger. They will draft a OT, but now wont be a need in the first round. He has started for 5 years, and was bad last year. Two years ago, he played well. He is average but will be a starter, and maybe in our sceme can play better. Now in the first we can take the best player available and get someone in the 2nd or third that can start in two years. He will then be a the swing tackle his last two years of his contract.
  16. I agree with you, I was trying to give a reason why they do what they do, sometimes its hard to understand there moves.
  17. Other than a few high end drafts picks, Britton, Britt, Nicks, I think almost all the private workouts are second day picks. They seem to be looking for that diamond in the rough all the time. Althought, come to think of it, thats where they draft the best anyways. Payne , Graham, ect.
  18. I think there thought is to play him at LG and have his time in the league will help Williams become better. Also in case Williams doesnt pan out or is injured again, to slide to LT, his position he has the most experience at. Kinda a ace in the hole for Williams, still a big question mark.
  19. I think if we got a trade done for Culter, no way they trade more picks away. He will just draft a WR and the QB can raise the WRs game. We would never win a bidding for a good player. JA places a value on somebody and thats that.
  20. The problem is if there are other people seeking him, it drives the price up. Keep in mind the salary cap and that leaves some teams out, so your offer may work.
  21. I was reading Brad Briggs and he talked to an insider type and that person thought that is the order there draft will fall. Now of course that depends on who is there, but sounds like what they would think as an importance order. If that is the case, name your three picks. Britton/OT Byrd/FS Barden/WR/ Cal Poly
  22. A 6 th round pick isnt exactly considered a next year starter, and that is what you would have to give up for him. A special team stud, and find some spots for him on the field, sounds like a no brainer for me.
  23. I agree, plus the fact that the Eagles need a RT bad and with a run in the first round, wont leave anybody left at there next drafting position. Plus why a cb, when FS is such a need?
  24. There are several good players that werent signed for big money and would have filled a need here. Its like the only people we sign are invisible to the rest of the league and we got a deal. I would like them to be good pickups but history tells us a few will be ok and a few will fail. Its the arrogance of our leaders that bothers me the most.
