  1. I just read that Greg Gabriel, head of scouting was personally at West Virgina's Pat Whites workout on his pro day. I dont usually hear his near on visits.
  2. If Bowman can stay healthy that might be a good move. Just becuase Bennett didnt play last year doesnt mean he cant play, it means Lovie aint that sharp. Look at Graham and Beekman, didnt play two years ago and looked descent last year. The more bodies we have at positions the best chance we have at finding someone that can play.
  3. I dont how having Calvin highlights would favor the Bears? Having Bennett on this team might make it more attractive to Culter but Detoit can offer more and I dont think the coaching staff cares where Culter would want to go.
  4. Unless they stupid with money and are only offering him a swing tackle job, then he will be back here tuesday. Who the hell would pick Cleveland over Chicago?
  5. There not going to want Orton, so it will definitly a first and a third this year? The problem is many teams will be bidding for his services and we wont have enough to offer. Detroit is making a play and they have higher picks and more of them.
  6. I read a story on the first 10 WRs taken in the last 4 drafts, there is only 10 players that made an impact on there teams. Most were busts, with the court still out on some of them. With that much risk at the top end of the draft, I only see the Bears taken a receiver with the 1st pick if Crabtree or Macklin are there. Probably wont draft one till the 3rd or 4 th round.
  7. We spent time with Urbik at the combine, and Lang is just a guy that will take some time, like many that later rounds will produce. Nicks and Byrd are excellent picks and also Veikune is as good as any of the later round DE propects.
  8. I would suspect that with that happening DE wont be a high pick, unless a stud drops to us at 18. The spot open will be for a future replacement for Wali.
  9. The criteria for this topic, is based on Watersfootball.com current mock draft. The 10 players I would most like to be Bears based on who is there with our first 3 rounds with only three picks. Our extra pick from the lost player thing I will be figuring to be a 4th round pick. I think there is alot of smart football people on this blog and a few dreamers. So the smart ones let me know your list so we can compare. I dont necessarily believe this mock is accurate just a basis for this topic. Macklin/WR Maualuga/LB Ayers/DE Britton/OT Nicks/WR Robiskie/WR Loadholt/OT Bryd/S Sidbury/DE Follett/LB
  10. We are all huge Bears fans and just like football, thats why were on this blog. I am a glass half full person, so I always think the powers that be are always doing the right thing. I thought they must be pretty smart to get us to a Super Bowl in 06 with a top 15 RB, a top 20 WR, and not much at QB, but the last two years I have lost my faith in Loveme, and JerryGM. We have had lousy drafts as a whole and make lots of mistakes with the personal. I think they have made bad desicions in the couching area also. So the half empty glass has creeped in. We are 16 and 16 the last two years. I want everything they do to turn out ok, because it will make my team a winner but that just isnt working out. They have this year to bring my faith back or I will be calling for there heads. They havent impressed me so far in the Free agency period, so my expectations are low. Maybe the moves they will make and have made will turn out good and along with a great draft, my faith will come back. As for Loveme, he has accepted the responablity for the defense, so now he wont have anyone to blame. I suppose in 05 and 06 I didnt have high expectations and they suprized me. Hopefully they can do that again.
  11. What do you think of Kiwame Harris? He was lousy last year but the Raiders signed him to a huge contract so he played well with the team he was at before. I think it was 49ers.
  12. I like the two WRs, but if we resign SC dont see us drafting a OG high. We have the two starters from last year, Omiyale, and Buening. I think Duke would be a stud, just dont think the Bears will look at it that way. I dont see the starters from last year starting and hope the new guys are an upgrade. Have you read the stats on Knox, he has stud stats, and fast, just dont know if it will translate to the NFL. I like the FB, but see us drafting Gill/DT/ NW with the 6th or 7th pick. They have had visited him twice and has better numbers than anyone at the combine listed DT.

    Lance Moore?

I think he is a good receiver, but he is sucessful as a slot receiver on a 3 wideout offense. I think with decent wideouts thats Hester place on our team. I would rather take the chance at getting a possible one or at least a two in the draft. If we trade for him I dont think WR will be a very high pick and we have lots of them on our team already. He wont be as sucessful here without a true #1 on the team.
  14. My thought on CB is one we could move to FS. Jenkins/OS and Davis/Ill have both been mentioned as possilbe playing FS. Also Byrd/ Oregon has been mentioned as a possible draft pick. They all could play FS or CB. I think Tillman and Graham are the only frontliners on the team. I hope Vasher comes back as who he was 2 years ago, but he hasnt played well since they gave him a good contract. He has been hurt but that is not good either.I think it would add flexablity to our backfield if we could get someone that could play both.
  15. Every year there is a top 10 type player that drops, we have to take him if he is there. Him not living up to the #1 pick status he once was, is still probably better than anyone we have now. If he only becomes a longtime starter instead of perenial all pro, I can live with that.
  16. Dont get me wrong would love it to happen, just trying apply logic to my usually positive attitude.
  17. I dont think they would give him up for a 2nd rounder unless it is a lot higher than ours. He can bitch all he wants, he cant go anywhere. He complained last year and didnt go anywhere. They are to many teams that need a receiver, to let him go cheaper than they think he might be worth.
  18. He was originially looked at as a undrafted free agent, I think he now will fall to maybe a 5th or 6th round pick. I think as a later draft pick, he makes sense, but as you said we have to many needs to fill and our first 4 or 5 picks has to be in those areas. I think we will still pick up another OT in free agency SC or someone else, which would mean we only need one more tackle in the draft. With Bullocks, we will probably only draft one FS, but we need 2 WRs unless we pick up a nobody in FA and they deem that not necessary. We will still need a QB prospect, DE, and I think maybe a CB wouldnt hurt, give us the option of moving someone on the roster to FS.
  19. Rd 1) Macklin/WR/Missouri Rd 2) Loadholt/OT/Okla Rd 3) King/DE/Iowa Rd 4) Martin/FS/Troy Rd 5)Turner/WR/USC Rd 6) Hill/DT/Stillman Rd 7) Parker/OG/Tenn I would perfer a different DE but could like the rest of the draft
  20. I dont think he would want to come here. Cold weather, poor passing game, not going to offer the most money. He will have better options that us.
  21. All I was trying to say was we have areas of need in several other places before we get to DT. Anytime we can get better at a posiition I m all for it, just should address them first. I donjt think we have enough draft picks to fill all of our needs this year.
  22. We still need to sign SC and draft a RT in the draft. SC is 32 so a couple of years of him as a starter and swing tackle would give us better depth.
  23. He is a frist rate LT in the league and looking for 10 mill a year. So to get him maybe give up Williams, and a 4th round pick? I dont know if that would be worth it but I still think Williams is a big question mark. Then still draft a right tackle in the draft.
