Has any generational QB prospects ever won a SB?
Stinger226 replied to Stinger226's topic in Bearstalk
In the last 20 years only Peyton Manning has won a SB as a elite prospect. That's not chump change . . It's a little hard to pretend that's a random stat. The morale of the story , more have been busts than great with the first pick of the draft. Not to say you can't get a good QB there but it's not set in stone. -
Very fair deal for both. We knew Poles wasn't setting the market with JJ, to many nagging injuries and only TOs came this year. That's a good sign he's going to try to win this year instead of pushing the wins down the road. We have to keep in mind they project the cap to go up by 50 mil next year. The QB money is pushing cap up every year.

Totally disagree, he has made progress. In the last 7 games , he was the 14 th rated QB in the league. Not saying he's all of a sudden, very good but he's not even close to Zach Wilson. -

F3 AA I'm not big on picking specific stats to push a narrative but just thought this was interesting with so many people calling Caleb generational. Simply put, A history of not winning SBs . one in 20 years is not a wishy wash statistic. I think it says more about the analysis process putting labels on QBs. Brady was a 6th round pick that became the best QB ever and Mahones was the third QB taken in his draft. I think they are just hard to find and hard to win SBs. -

Seen this on Twitter. Brady and Mahomes were never considered generational. Who ? Andrew luck - no Trevor Lawrence - no Joe Burrows - no Eli Manning was never stated to be generational Aaron Rodgers was never called generational Russell Wilson was never considered generational Matt Stafford wasn't Can anyone think of somebody? Maybe Peyton Manning, was he considered generational? In the last 20 years only Manning won one SB that was considered a generational prospect.

If they draft a QB and sit for a year, they will just keep Justin. Poles isn't going to wreak the culture he has built for a QB vet . This has nothing to do with the argument who is better. Drafting a QB and keeping Justin for another year affects nothing but you bring in a different QB to have for the year? Totally will lose the team morale. Whether Wilson is better or not, no one on the team supports that. IMO -

Rd ð That's interesting, someone wants to pay Wilson but Justin cost to much to keep for one more year . I'm all in on grabbing a QB and having him sit for a year and having ( logical choice) Justin play here one more year. That's what u think is going to happen. -
Seriously? Look up the definition of turd, that's not even debatable. So I can't cheer for Caleb because I May think Justin ( could ) get better as a QB,and like his intangibles? If you have ever seen the movie ( The World according To Garp ) you know what it's like having you on this website. You try to control everything. All anyone has to do is to look at your responses to when people disagree with you and it explains itself. You think you get to say anything but if people respond to it , their starting trouble. How do you know what I say when you have ignored my posts?

Administrators can do anything they deem necessary to keep peace on here. I'm all in on having a passionate yet non chaotic place for discussion. Just disagreement is no reason to have conflict. I never tell people what to think, will just agree or disagree. Everyone has a right to their opinions. -

Seen and article by Aaron lemming on cap space after in season spending and rookie costs we have 39 mil for FA. That's effective cap space. Forget the big money deals that was JJ. -
Thank you for clarification, Justin is a piece of shit Justin is a turd. I'm a plumber, I got the terms confused.
-
If they take a QB that only leaves 2 high picks to look for starters. The fourth rounders could contribute but not expected. He's trading the first pick and probably both.
-
Lets just look at him as a vet backup and 4 mil is the going rate for that type of player. He can play several positions. Poles is not done with the center position. Doubt we ever get to draft JPJ but maybe Zach Frazier. Brian Allen was released but has injuries concern, maybe he brings him in with Bates as the backup plan.
-
People have been trying to say ( they mutually agreed to a late March meeting) that's bullshit, the Bears wanted to finish the medicals so they could plan to take him, trade Justin but the me. me candidate is doing stuff his way.
-
To be honest, any rookie coming out should have some time to develop instead of being thrown in the fire right away. Jordon Love wouldn't have developed if he started from day one, he sat 3 years. That's way I still think the scenario where Justin and another QB is still a strong option.
-
Nobody is doubting his talent, it's about questions on the intangibles. Leadership, treat me special attitude. Lots of QBs, with talent have failed at the NFL level. You always speak in absolutes, Justin is terrible, if you don't like Caleb, you're a hater. You are the only one that looks at things that way. You can actually like players for several reasons. I swear you said that Justin was a piece of shit one time. That is the way haters talk. No one looked at Pat Mahones tape and said he was generational, the evaluating system is flawed. If Pat didn't go to KC, sat for a year, got on a team with great coaching and well built team, he wouldn't be considered great right now.

If 10.4 is all he cost, easily could get him but I have seen he rated on several sites as the best safety available and think he's getting 14+. That small amount will take us out of the picture. If he spends money it will in the offense side of the ball. Would love to have him but look at Poles history one large contract per season. I predict he brings in Blackmon. Played under Flus as a rookie from the colts. OTC has his value as 14 mil, they are always more accurate than spotrac that's why I always use them. He had 88 ts, 4 int, 2 FF and 8 PDs. OTC has his value at 7.8mil. I just seen where JJ played ball with Julian at Utah. Wonder if that affects anything.

I think all of them have flaws, even Caleb. He had 60 plays this year where held on to ball 6 secs or more. I will go back and look but I'm sure Mahomes tape was flawed or he wouldn't have been the third QB taken . Coaching and built roster matter. I think probably everyone of them could sit for a year and have much better results. But as we know, patientence is no longer an NFL value. -
Watch some tape on Bates and lots of good things to see. He is better at pass blocking than the run. Good at the point of attack. Watch some reps where he manhandled Billings on a few plays and Wilkins from Miami. That's no easy task. From what I could understand, they were grooming Bates to take over for Mitch Morse, who's 32. They have cap issues and can pay a minimum salary instead of 4 a mil a year so they traded him .

If you noticed I'm on here alot irritating people ( not intentionally),because I'm in Thailand and have a lot of free time on my hands. I'm hitting the NFL off-season hard because I can. I'm 13 hours different from Chicago so I'm either early or late with my posts. This is the best Bears off-season I've ever been involved with. I think no matter what choices Poles makes we're going to be a good team this year. Been a fan since 1966 and I love this kind of stuff. -
Was it Watson because of is legal problems but was traded, not signed by Houston?.
-
They will definitely target a FS but I'm not sure if he will be to expensive. U tink Poles starts running money to offense. The last two years most of the went to the D. DJ Moore is the only big money offense guy. Kmet has money but at 11.6 a year, that's now a mid level signing. There will be a few 9 to 11 mil contracts, no more 15mil and above.Poles keeps the cap healthy by not over spending .
-
I could also see the Wisconsin center being drafted, He also plays multi positions. He's mean.Tanor Bortolini.
-
I think they are doing that for JJ to get a realistic view of is worth. They are probably only a few mil a year apart but Poles plays hardball , JJ has to back off the highest paid contract narrative.
