I agree the media is but no team reported they think Justin is terrible. The lack of attention for a trade is because of Wilson, Cousins, and Mayfield. Once they're off the table they will turn to the draft and if they are not able to get their guy, then Justin is in play. Then you can judge trade value. You are in denial if you think Poles is trading him for a 4 th or 5 th round pick. He will keep him . having a couple starting caliber QBs on the roster is not a bad strategy.

Bears sign D'Andre Swift (3yr 24M - 15M guaranteed)

Herbert contract is up this year and always misses games. Johnson is not a true # 1 but valuable backup . Clearly they are making a push to win his year. Not sure ow a rookie QB figures into that plan. -
What was San Francisco record last year?

Can you post those interviews?

The Chicago Bears are on the clock! OFFSEASON OPEN THREAD!

NE trades Mac Jones. It sets up a biding war for pick one. Washington VS NE. That would still leave us a QB or MHJ? the ninth pick and a ton of draft capital. Poles is a magician --- Could he trade 1 to 2, 2 to 3, and back again. I can't imagine what that would bring us. -
Caleb has talent but there's still a risk with any QB drafted. Much worst consequences with the first pick. Poles knows he has to win this year. Draft Williams knowing QBs usually struggle their first year and get one more blue chip player at 9. Your next pick is 75. Starters are more likely in round 1 +2 than later in draft. WR or Edge? Trade back to 2, draft capital. Trade back again and have 9 and a 10 to 15 pick. You can draft Verse or Latui and Brian Thomas plus get 2 to 3 second round picks. Draft Zach Frazier, OG-OT and maybe a QB prospect. Another WR? A Brandon Fiske? Jaylen Wright? If Poles believes Williams is the guy, he will take him and keep trading back for more picks. What if he doesn't? No one has that answer. The second option wins more games than drafting a rookie QB. Stroud was an outlier, that rarely happens.

Some of those teams are still in on drafting a QB. Justin's market may not develop until after the draft. Someone is not getting their guy. LVR has Getsy there, not happening. Den only realistic option.
-
There's another reason why the market is so light on Justin, because maybe they're not trading him. GMs understand choices but media and fans whip up narratives. This is a possibility even as slight as it may be.

Actually it was 60.4% pressure rate . Tell me what QB in the League looks good being under pressure 6 out of ten times. It's wreaks one's confidence. Also he was one of the highest in the League in completion rate when throwing to D j and Kmet. All the other WRs had at least a 15% drop passes rate. You lose confidence in WRs when hey continually dropping the ball. Example Mooney in the end zone that would have won the game. If he would had had one more reliable WR, he would have made the top 10 in the League.

They are out on the Justin tour. Atlanta getting Cousins?

I don't mean to be disrespectful to Bears media but there are a lot idiots out there. I seen several say we paid to much for Byard. That's insane. A top 5 safety for 7.5 mil a year. I expected 10 to 12 for someone.
-
To he fair, JJ is a vet , he's just young. And yes Byard is a perfect fit. I'm also glad he has an easy name.

Last year he had 55 pressures. 9.5 sacks and signed for 2.5 mil, go get him.
-
They definitely are. I think we wait until after the first wave gets signed and grab a vet on a 1 year10 deal. Clowny comes to mind. He

Poles has to win this year, he has to upgrade from maybes to sure things. Byard is as close you can get to a sure thing.
-
If Caleb is that guy he will come in with the challenge of winning he locker room. Over. Success will win the locker room, if he has Bryce Young season, he will have a lot of pressure on him. How ever they play this, it works better if he doesn't start until late season or sits the whole year.
-
The earth is flat, not sure of your point? Until Poles trades Justin that option is still on the table.
-
If they were already set on drafting him , would they be doing that?
-
Last year Justin was picked by his NFL peers as the 87 th best player in the League. Trevor Lawrence was either in the 90s or didn't make the list. Very well respected in the League amongst players.
-
I read one stat were he has more interceptions (28) than he does missed tackles in his career. That's huge having such a well tackling FS. Poles is going for winning this year. Does he think a rookie QB gets us there?
-
A deep dive into statistics suggests differently.
-
At his age he's taking any starting gig he could get. He has never mentioned retirement in his last few years, odds are slim on that. He will not be cheap.
-
I trust Poles to make the right choice. We are in win mode now, A rookie QB would have us regress for this year at least. I think the possibility still exists to add picks and still draft a QB to sit behind Justin.

PFF had Byard as the 11 th ranked S last year. Definitely an upgrade over EJac
