  1. Well, before we franchised Briggs, the Giants GM said Briggs would be a priority in free agency...
  2. I don't know how reliable this is, but on a different message board a guy said his source from a NY radio station said the Bears are working on a deal to send Briggs to the Giants for their 1st, 2nd, and 5th round picks. Apparently the Giants are only offering their 2nd and 5th. Also, reportedly from the guys source, if the Bears don't have a long term contract for Briggs come training camp, he will holdout. Now, like I said I don't know how reliable this is, and I even doubt this is true at all. But it will give us something to talk about. Any thoughts?
  3. Future TE, Youth on the OLine, and a possession reciever are all draft needs. And SS is a draft need as well, as Chris Harris isn't the future at SS and Mike Brown has health concerns. And Ken Hamlin is a FS who is going to get overpaid and Deon Grant is no better then who we already have. You are making a big deal out of nothing. The only thing the Bears need in free agency is a few odds and ends. Like Anthony Adams for depth at DT. also, you are forgetting that this is an ESPN writers article predicting where certain free agents might go... that doesn't mean JA isn't looking.
  4. this team doesn't have much needs and overspending in free agency isn't a need. Name one person on that list that would be a major upgrade? What, would you have liked to over spend for Steinbach? That would have been stupid. I'd rather be able to keep players like Tommie Harris, Nathan Vasher/Charles Tillman, Bernard Berrian, and possibly Briggs or Grossman long term.
  5. I see him making the practice squad, that is if he is healthy. The only WR spot that is a question is possesion reciever/tall reciever, and since Justin Gage sucks, we might need a replacement. My personal favorite for possession receiver right now is Mike Haas-he has great hands.
  6. I don't like to brag or anything... but I called it!
  7. Houston is probably the number 2 CB right now... Wendling did very good, not as good as I expected though in the vertical jump. He looked really good in the shuttle runs.
  8. If I was Houston... I would trade Carr, trade for Plummer, and draft Stanton in either the 2nd or 3rd.
  9. I am really looking forward to the DB's tommorow... everyone, keep your eye on John Wendling, reportedly has has 4.3 speed-which is amazing considering his size (6'1" 222), and he will probably have a 40+ verticle.
  10. He is like a poor mans version of Randy Moss, IMO. They both have similar builds and have good ball skills and jump skills, but Moss has a lot more burst. But Rice doesn't have the attitude. I think he will go round 2 mainly because of so many good receivers there in this draft. IMO, Johnson - dah, Meachem, Bowe, Ginn, and Jarrett will all go before him. My top 15 receivers after today... 1. Calvin Johnson 2. Robert Meachem 3. Dwayne Bowe 4. Ted Ginn 5. Dwayne Jarrett 6. Sidney Rice 7. Jason Hill 8. Anthony Gonzalez 9. Craig Davis 10. Johnnie Lee Higgins 11. Aundrae Allison 12. Chansi Stuckey 13. Paul Williams 14. Jacoby Jones - top sleeper, IMO 15. Steve Smith
  11. I like him as a slot guy, but we don't need a slot guy. We need a good big receiver who would start out just as a possesion guy but can take over for Moose in a couple of years... that is why I like Bowe and Jarrett. Calvin Johnson = god, btw.
  12. Dwayne Bowe looked very impressive today. If he and/or Jarrett were there at 31 I'd take either one of them.
  13. How much value you think Briggs and TJ have?
  14. Hopefully we can pull off what the Pats and Falcons did... get a first round pick by trading a disgruntled player who is holding out.
  15. JA isn't one of those GM's those... he likes to keep everyone happy. That is why Briggs is the first player he ever franchised.
  16. I hear the offer has been bumped up to 4 million... I think we will see a new deal made by this week.
  17. I wouldn't give up a 1st day pick for him...
  18. this is the site I use for the draft and combine... http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...ne/results.html And this year isn't top heavy at running back, but it is deep. We can actually get a good RB in like the 4th round. I have my eye on Lorenzo Booker from FSU. He is a fast RB, can block, and is a great receiver. He just got screwed by a crappy FSU OL. He could be the change of pace back, and could end up being a steal. Kenny Irons seems to be falling, and I wouldn't mind him in the 2nd either. I also wouldn't mind Brian Leonard in the second. He wouldn't be a good change of pace back, but he would be a great 3rd down back as he is a great blocker and receiver. Plus, he could play FB, and the man can also run. I am a bit disappointed by Zach Miller. But I think he will have a much better pro day. I wouldn't mind him in the 2nd round. It looks like Olsen will go top 20 now, so we can rule him out. But if he is there at 31, I'd take him in a heartbeat. The only problem with a play making TE is that Turner most likely wouldn't know how to use him. A player you should watch on Tuesday is John Wendling. Right now, I would want him more then any other safety. He reportedly has 4.3 speed, and that is amazing considering he 6'1" and weighs 222, and he has a vertical of 40+ I'd take him in the first or second.
  19. I also think the best we could do is a 3rd rounder... Maybe a 4th rounder and a future conditional pick depending on how many games he starts.
  20. I think a 3rd round pick is most likely... or perhaps a 4th round pick and a conditional pick for next season. I am sad to see that Jones has requested a trade. I for one don't think he'd be going anywhere that is a good situation for him. I think his career is going to go all downhill from here, as he would still get plenty of carries with Benson. Oh well.
  21. Sorry dude... but the best the Bears could do in a trade is a late 1st rounder, if we're lucky! Chances are if we trade him, it will only be for an early 2nd round pick, and possibly a future pick or a 2nd day pick.

    Wade Wilson

I have no problem with this... I was never a fan of his
  23. I probably did overreact, but I still don't like Angelo... just was never a fan.
  24. the only good signings Angelo has been able to make is w/ OL players
  25. Is 4-5 million unreasonable for a coach like Lovie? I have always said this, and I will say it again... Jerry Angelo is an overrated GM... he never makes good FA signings and is usually bad when it comes to the draft. I think he has gotten more lucky then it has been his "awesome scouting and GM abilities." Kenny Williams has an excuse for some-what going cheap... what's Angelo's?
