I was watching Fox's Final Word, and Tom Waddle came up with a good Comparison to Rex Grossman... Grossman - Brees Both have similar size and through their first 20 some games, their stats are similar also. I just thought I'd throw this out there.
-
Ah, he had the transition tag placed on him. That was a stupid move on their part. But I do think the NFL banned the poison pill. But I could be wrong.
-
I think what happened with that is that Minnesota threw in some sort of poison pill. I am not sure, but they didn't have to give up any compensation. But IIRC, the NFL has gotten rid of the poison pill.
-
The only reason why he was bad was because Miami didn't know how to play him. They had him at RB, WR, and CB. He can be a good CB, probably nickle, but it will take time and coaching. But the choice you need to make is either you want him at CB or WR. He is a playmaker, but he wants to play CB.

Joey Harrington will likely be cut. I wouldn't mind bringing him in for cheap to compete. He has talent, but the Lions practically ruined him like they ruin every player. Worst case scenerio, he will be cut and not cost us anything. Back to Carr, if we did get him, that would be very interesting. If he wins the job, do we dump Orton? It would be interesting to say the least. IMO, I bet we could get him for a 5th round pick.

- SIGNED UP -

I would give Briggs the non-exclusive franchise tag, and hope some team still signs him. Two first round picks would be sweet. I assume it would be a 1st rounder for this year and a first rounder next year. I don't recall that ever happening though.

Actually, it should just be an award for the players chosen, but they should keep the skills competition - that is the only good part of the probowl.
-
They should do what baseball does, and put something meaningful in the game. Like whichever side wins that side gets somesort of advantage for next season.
-
I was watching the skills competition last night, and I was disappointed that Hester didn't participate in the fastest man race.
-
Spaeth looks to be more of a 2nd TE to me. A blocker/red zone target type. He isn't what this team needs. We need a playmaker.
-
The man knows how to get away from defenders. He is a force to be rekoned with, and you have two options with him a) kick it out of bounds hope your coverage teams are good enough. Also, I didn't watch most of the probowl. Was his return a TD?

I'm not sure. In John Clayton's article on ESPN he has the Bears with 16 million in cap, and I read somewhere else that we had 26 million. And now this. My guess is the we are in the 20-27 range.

Olsen is a decent blocker, nothing special. The TE who I think is very good is Zach Miller. He is faster then Olsen and is a major threat in the passing game. Plus, he is a solid blocker with the potential to become a very good blocker. Plus, like I said, he would be a weapon in the offense. He could line up in the slot, 2nd TE, or even H-Back. With that said, Ron Turner most likely wouldn't know how to use him.
-
This would be my ideal first day... Trade 1st for a 2rd (45-50 range) and 3rd. 2a. Zach Miller, TE Playmaking TE who will add another dimension to the team. Could be a situational TE while learning under Dez Clark. Could also play a H-Back type roll. 2b. John Wendling, S Mike Brown's future replacement. Has incredible measureables and is a playmaker. Plus is very good versus the run. 3a. Doug Free, OT Underrated OT who is some-what a local product (not from IL, but went to college here). Would learn behind Tait and Miller for a year or two. 3b. Quincy Black, LB Added depth the LB crew. Could probably play all three LB spots in the Cover 2.
-
well, lets say we did sign Briggs long term, he would probably still earn 7 million this year with signing bonus and such. But this way, there would be no signing bonus, and we wouldn't have his contract tied up into the cap.

'Tank' Johnson pleads guilty to probation violation
BearSox replied to adam's topic in Soldier Field
what else is he supposed to pled? -
He shouldn't start... he should have to compete for it.
-
Yeah, I don't see it working out either. Now, if Carr is cut from the Texans, I can easily see us bringing him in.
-
David Carr gets a bad rap. I think he could be damn good, but no QB is good when they have swinging gates as their OL.
-
He would be getting about 40% of the carries by the start of next season if he stayed here. Now, if he wants to get a good majority of the carries, at least 60%, it would have to be with a pretty bad team. If you were him, which decision would you make? Less carries but for a Superbowl Contender, or more carries for a garbage team? Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland, Green Bay, Jets, and Denver possibly. 4 of those 6 are garbage teams, and if he was lucky he'd get the majority of carries with those teams. But Cleveland will probably draft AD and Green Bay Marshawn Lynch. Plus there are a couple better options in free agency a team could turn to. You could maybe also add the Giants to that list. But like I said, Jones doesn't have a good chance or oppurtunity of being able to play more somewhere else, while still succeeding. Lets say he did go to Detroit for some reason. I can guarentee he would put up better number with the Bears even if he had 20% less of the carries since the Lions hae a horrible team.

what an idiot.
-
I think we might get a few more posters come draft time.
-
This is the way I see it playing out next year... Ogunleye - Had just another decent season, cut/traded/whatever to free up cap Brown - Having another Alex Brown season. Not great, but he doesn't get paid much Anderson - Another great season, taking over for Ogunleye at DE Draft - DE addressed first day

I just got to thinking about this, but could Wade Wilson the QB coach be blame for the QB struggles in chicago? He has only been around since 04, but even so, he hasn't done a good job with the QB's, IMO. Yes, the QB's have won games, but most of the Bears victories are in part do to the great defense. Look at Rex Grossman for example. He can be a good QB, but he makes bad decisions and has bad mechanics. And Kyle Orton last year, even though he won, he did suck. Could Wade Wilson, the QB Coach be part to blame?
