Next week is the last week where multiple bad teams face off against each other. CAR will hopefully lose to TEN but even if they tied with ARZ, CAR would still have the tiebreaker. So either CAR or TEN loss helps the Bears. The other game is going to help the Bears as NE or NYG will walk away with a win. With NE at 2-8, it would be better for them to get a win to drop the Bears back to #3. Then it is praying Kyler Murray gets hot. If the Bears play like they did today against other teams, they will be ATL, ARZ, and GB and might beat MIN. They also have a shot at beating DET after their bye. CLE will be a tough game but winnable as well. Since the Bears are coached so bad, they probably only win 2, even though they could win out. So 5-12 is probably the number. That would mean the Giants and Titans need 2 more wins and the Pats and Cards need 3. That outcome would give the Bears pick #1 and #2. Assuming at least one of those teams flounders, at worst the Bears should get #1 and #4 (where they are at today). #1 and #3 would almost assuredly mean a QB and MHJ. It could also mean, trade out of #1 and take MHJ at #3.

If that is the case, there is no reason to keep him. Why not evaluate other guys for the position? Ultimately you need a defensive positional coach to move up to be the DC play caller, and then you could have Getsy be the HC and OC. I just think by keeping him, you are accepting the state of the team and not demanding more. Losing is normal.

Fields went 16-23, 69.6%, 169 yards, 7.3 Y/A, 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacks, 1 FL, 18 rushes for 104 yards. Passing numbers still too low for me, but he made up for it with a huge day on the ground. For his first game back in a month, I would say he passed the first of 7 tests. He will need to do this but improve on it every game. Next up MIN.

Tyler Scott has been downgraded for me. He can't fumble from a basic tackle and slowed up enough to miss that deep ball. His blocking has been above average for his size, but everything else has been below average for me. Mooney had one target, he clearly won't be back next year.

If you had to evaluate Fields in a vacuum with this horrible coaching staff, I think he passed his first of 7 tests today. He did enough to win and they took the ball out of his hands when it mattered the most. The safety at the end was meaningless to me.

This is why you can't keep this thing together. It doesn't work. Flus and Getsy are over their heads. They both need to go. How many "tough" losses have they had? They literally cannot win games.

Getsy going conservative and running Herbert into 9 defenders twice to just burn 2 timeouts was dumb. A first down was more important than the Lions timeout there. Keep the ball in Fields hands and let him win or lose it. The offense played not to lose.
