    Injury Report

    I think it is sarcasm.
  3. Bears - Mark Bradley (ankle) was still wearing a protective boot on Monday and is unlikely to play Sunday against New Orleans, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. It also looks like McKie and Ogunleye might end up as probables. Saints - Joe Horn - Though coach Sean Payton will wait until Wednesday to release an official injury report, he said he thought Horn (groin) has made progress, according to the New Orleans Times-Picyaune.
  4. I heard a stat about scoring and decided to crunch my own numbers. Check these out: Bears record: When they score 14+ points: 12-0 (13-0 counting playoffs) When they score 13 or less: 1-3 When opponents score 25 or less: 11-1 (12-1 counting the playoffs) When opponents score 26 or more: 2-2 Saints record: When they score 23+ points: 9-1 (10-1 counting playoffs) When they score 22 or less: 1-5 When opponents score 27 or less: 10-2 (11-2 counting the playoffs) When opponents score 28 or more: 0-4 So what does that tell you? The Bears have needed a lot fewer points to win and if they can hold the Saints to 21-24 points, they will have a great shot at winning. Moving the numbers up and down, it seems like 24 is the magic number for the Bears Defense. Also, if the Bears score 28 or more, they will have the highest probability of winning. The most surprising one was the Bears 13-0 when they score at least 14 points. The Saints have to get at least 23 points to be even close to that at 10-1. Bears score 28 or more, win probability 99.9% Bears score 14-27 pts, win probability 58.3% Bears score 13 or less, win probability 12.5%
  5. Harris might as well just sprint into someone at full speed with no arms and maybe knock them down. His current technique is not working, and no the tackling dummy would knock him off too.
  6. Actually I have seen a few of the early picks on the some of the networks, and I am surprised to see about half picking the Bears. I think the Bears can win if they hold the Saints to 27 or less. Besides turnovers, the biggest factor will be field position. Seattle had short scoring drives which led to their scores (71/26/49/51). 4 scoring drives, and only one over 51 yards. Those are some easy scores. In comparison, the Bears had 5 scoring drives, and only the OT Field Goal was less than 53 yds (34 yds). chitownman, field position is what actually kept Seattle in the game. The defense played pretty good. Seattle had several 3 and outs, and also had 10 drives with 5 or less plays (out of 14 total drives). I know you can do this with a ton of plays, but if you get rid of Grossman's fumble and replace it with a punt, there is a good chance that the Bears win 24-17. Seattle was also only 5-15 on 3rd downs. Those are all solid Defensive stats. The score of the game is a little deceiving.
  7. This is where the Bears wanted to be; at home for the NFC Championship. I really believe some of the inconsistencies vs Seattle were due more to the time off than anything else. It is hard to get up to playoff game speed instantly. The Bears ultimately had 2+ weeks off. So this week, they will be back up to full speed and healthy. The Saints have multiple weaknesses. They are not good against the run, and they are prone to letting up the big play. These are two things the Bears do good, which sounds like a great formula for success.

    Matchups...

Bears D vs Saints O I actually like the matchups: McAllister/Bush vs Urlacher/Briggs/Hillenmeyer Urlacher and Briggs get a ton of stuffs, and Bush will be slowed by the field conditions (no turf). I like this matchup. Colston/Cotton/Henderson vs Vasher/Tillman/Manning The WR vs DB matchup is also pretty even. The Bears have 3 starting corners, which makes nickel matchups better than most teams. The trenches seem fairly even, but I think the Bears have more speed on the edges. Mark Anderson is going to get some pressures. Bears O vs Saints D The Saints LB Corps is not that spectacular. Jones and Benson are going to have opportunities. Jones/Benson vs Fujita/Simoneau/Shanle The Bears have some great matchups in the passing game. I really think this will be the big game for Desmond Clark. Muhammad/Berrian/Davis/Clark vs McKenzie/Thomas/? Special Teams - I think the Bears have a huge edge here. Also, Gould has shown he can kick in cold conditions. Carney normally kicks in a dome, and hasn't attempted any long kicks (+40) in outside conditions. I really think the media is blowing the Bears inconsistencies out of proportion. I have a funny feeling that Lovie has been holding back with certain schemes/plays until the Bears need them.
  9. Compared to last year vs Carolina, then yeah it was a good game, otherwise he let up a ton of receptions, and if it wasn't for 3 drops, he would have let up a few more. The Seattle receivers had 12 receptions, and he let up 6-7 of those. Hasselback stayed away from Branch because Vasher had tight coverage most of the time. From what I saw, it just seemed like every time they made a reception it was on Tillman.
  10. The game seems pretty evenly matched, with the Bears having a slight edge in Special Teams, and with HFA. I like the Bears chances, and I think they have a better chance next week than they did vs Seattle.
  11. I dunno man. I don't think it really matters. The NO offense is probably better than Philly's, but Philly's D is better than NO's. The biggest difference might be the weather/home field advantage. Philly plays in the cold, and NO plays in a dome. NO will have a harder time coming up to Soldier Field and getting a win.
  12. Vasher. The playoffs have exposed Tillman for a second year. I don't think he will be re-signed.
  13. Tillman was horrible, and I hope they give him help next week. Urlacher started hot, then disappeared. Hopefully everyone steps up next week.
  14. freak YEAH! That first one is always the hardest to get. Now the Bears can taste it. GOULD AND DAVIS WERE freakin HUGE! GREAT WIN!!!!! Bring on the Bush!
  15. Gould is gold. That was a huge pressure kick. In those conditions from 49 yards, in overtime, in his playoff game. WOW, just wow.
  16. Nice stop by the D. Partially blocked punt. Lets go Offense!
  17. That was a stupid Timeout. That could have backfired with a Hail Mary. .
  18. What a crappy possession. Should have tried at least one run.
  19. freak YEAH, A MONUNMENTAL STOP!! freak HOLMGREN, FATASS!
