Had good seats for tonights game here's my observations. I tried to key on some players throughout the game. Watching the TV broadcast (which just started) will give me a different perspective. We owned half the stadium tonight. I was surprised at how many Trubisky jerseys were being worn. All the talk back in the summer of all Bears fans hating that draft pick don't appear to be true. I don't think they all got purchased this past week. Offense: Glennon sucks. The play calling was clearly designed to get him, and perhaps the entire offense, into a comfort zone early on with some positive plays. It was disappointing to suffer through that. Once …

After the first preseason game, one thing is clear: The RB depth chart is going to get interesting. Howard is locked in at #1, but Cohen was damn impressive. I thought Carey was pretty damn impressive in limited carries as well. Cunningham may have surprised some with his one big run, and for his sake it better over shadow the rest. He didn't look all that explosive to me. In fact, when he came in after Cohen is looked like a significant slow down. Right now I'd say Carey is #2, Cohen is #3, and Cunningham is fighting with Langford for #4.

Trubisky's debut sure made the rounds and turned heads last weekend. At PFF he made their preseason week 1 team of the week. If he keeps up the level of play he showed last Thursday he's going to make a lot of "experts" eat large quantities of crow pie. We Bears fans have long suffered through poor QB play, it's exciting to think we possibly could finally have a legit franchise QB. No one will care about the move up one spot to take him. It is only one preseason game, and it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers, but a lot of "experts" talked a lot of crap about the pick, and how it all went down. PFF Preseason week 1 team of the week

What are some things you'll be looking for in tonight's game. Hard to believer the preseason is upon us and soon the regular season will be too. I'm hoping my local stations pick up the game. I don't get NFL network. My top item is one I'll have to wait for. I want to see how Trubisky does. I'll be watching how smooth the center QB exchange is and how well he's transitioning from primarily shot gun in college to being under center here. Also how smooth are his drops, his footwork, pocket presence, and accuracy both deep and short. After Mr Butt Fumble, he'll probably look like a breath of fresh air lol. Thought it would be nice to have a general thread with various notes from training camp. Great to see Trevathan getting practice in (given how rough of an injury he is working back from.

Evidently Glennon / Tru both looked really good this past weekend. I'm getting more and more confident in the fact that I think Glennon will prove to be a solid starter. As it relates to Trubisky, I think it is great how accurate he has looked and that he has flashed that "athleticism" and accuracy (supposedly he has been the most accurate QB the vast majority of training camp). That said, the differentiator between solid and great QB's isn't physical skills (those are more of the pre-requisite). It is going to take time to see if Tru has it between the ears, but great to see that he's super accurate (would love to have a QB who just throws dimes (to our players) all ove…

Admittedly I've never liked much of what Jones has done on the field. Despite having outstanding athleticism he seemed to have little ability to diagnose a play and get into the right position to stop it. Now just two weeks into this camp and here's Jone's being listed as one of the most improved players. If true he along with Kwiatkoski could give us excellent depth at ILB. Jones ability to run (and hopefully cover TEs) fits better as the backup to Trevathan while Kwit's skills fit better behind Freeman. There is a lot of gloom and doom suggested for this team this year. Here is why that changes this year. #1 They will be healthier this year. Last year the were the worst team in the league for injuries. They lost their starting QB early and as much as we put down Cutler, it would have had much better results with him at QB. #2 We have one of the best RBs in the league. If he had started from day one, he would have led the league in rushing. Do not sleep on 5.2 YPC. thats awesome. He has worked extremely hard this off season to get stronger and faster. Hope springs eternal and then reality sets in. Here's my thoughts on who steps up and who steps down. Surprise: Mitchell Trubisky. I think from the first week in camp it will be clear he can play in this league. A rookie practicing against the same team every day and playing preseason games against backups does not make him ready to start in week 1. Nonetheless I expect to hear quite a bit of positive reviews about Trubisky during camp. Disappointment: Eddie Jackson. I was going to put Fuller in here but he's fighting for a job at this point even if it's not in Chicago. I've seen a lot of hype about Jackson after the draft but IMO he was just ok …

I got two: Houston-Carson and Grasu I think the numbers at S catch with DHC. We have Demps, Amos, Bush, Jackson, and HJQ and Hall moving over there from CB last year. I think at the bottom of the roster the team picks the player who can fill in both at FS and CB and that's Hall. HJQ and DHC depart although DHC could end up on the practice squad. Grasu has to expand his game into the backup OG and there he has some very tough competition. I like what Kush did last year as a backup and I expect Morgan to earn a spot as a backup OG.
