Ok, I have been tempering my excitement and it is only the preseason but I always felt that there are things you can take away from the preseason even if it is not game outcome related. The operation as a whole looks crisper, tighter, and it feels like everyone understands what is going on. Communication looked good, no delay of game penalties or wasted time outs. The buy in is real. Burdens blocks at the goal line were impressive. If the players have confidence and trust the process, there is another level that can be achieved, something we haven't seen since the Lovie era. Now this might not equate to wins right away but I feel like once they get on a ro…

Please take all of this in. This is not something we as Bears fans get to experience very much. A 5-win November, 5 straight wins, 9 out of 10. Guaranteed a winning record for only the 4th time in the last 17 years. The list goes on and on. The Bears have the #1 Rushing Offense (by 200 yards) without a running QB, and lead the league in Takeaways (by 6) on defense. Whatever happens the rest of the way, I think the foundation has been set for some sustained success. I know there have been some disagreements on this board over the years, which is nearing its 20-year anniversary, but we need to keep the personal attacks and demeaning replies for the …

Comparing the Bears roster to the rest of the league by position group, they only have 5 players in the top 10 at their position in terms of AAV, Thuney, Jonah Jackson, Kmet, Odeyingbo (as Edge2), and Gordon (as Slot CB). Technically, Gordon is the highest-paid Bears player in relation to the rest of the NFL as the 2nd highest paid Slot CB. Odeyingbo is the next as the 3rd highest Edge2, then Thuney at 7, Jackson and Kmet at 8. Gordon's is the only deal that will be that high for another few years. Odeyingbo will be gone next year, and all the rest will slide out of the top 10 with other players getting new deals. My assumption is Darnell Wright will get added to the top …

Tampa Bay tight end Jerramy Stevens, fresh off his two-game league suspension, made his debut this season at Soldier Field and hauled in a one-yard touchdown catch to force overtime. Stevens made five receptions for 61 yards, including a 31-yarder. "I personally feel like some people on the Bears got exposed,'' Stevens said. "But I'm not …

    * Orton looked solid and seems to be showing growth. Nice to see after we watched Grossman regress. Let's hope this continues. * My condolences to the "internet football experts" on the site. I know how much happier you all are when the Bears lose. * Atlanta and Minneapolis next. It makes tonight's game all that much more interesting. Both are games the Bears can win but we're going on the road to Atlanta. * Peanut has made amends for his brain-fart that cost us a game. Way to man up, Nut! * Booker's catch was one for the highlight films. Outstanding. And I have to admit, I wasn't a fan of bringing him back. Glad the Bears GM and coaching…

One thing I haven't really seen mentioned is Tennessee cornerback Cortland Finnegan. This is a guy who has a bit of a rep as being an ass. I think his own teamates (including team leader Bulluck) has even gotten into fights w/ him. Anyway, front the get-go, Finnegan was in our players faces, pushing shoving, late hitting, etc. I saw very little from our guys. I realize the 2nd guy draws the flag, and some (maybe much) of his antics are likely intended to get into the minds of our players, but still. At some point, when a guy is simply pushing you around, do you not have to do something? Yea, we had a couple guys here and there push back, but in a game like fo…

In 3+ seasons w/ the Bears, Bradley never had more than 18 catches in a season. I don't think he could even get active this year, and then we cut him. He picked up w/ KC, and has very quickly stepped in and stepped up. This past week, Bradley had 9 for 81 and a score. In the last three weeks, he has 18-188-2. Not bad for a guy who could not even get active for us.

It should be a signal that a lot of changes are needed. The offense needs changes. The defense needs changes. The special teams need(s) changes. Most of all, however... The coaching staff needs changes. This should be the sign to all that Lovie, Babich, and Turner need to get the axe. Babich ESPECIALLY needs to be fired. The game was a travesty, and there is no way a team that played this poorly can be the result of good coaching.

Thougt it would be fun to start a Bears Big Board and how it will come together by April. This is not particularly the order the Bears would take a player, but the order they see the players ranked. How would you rank the players? 1 Andre Smith OT Alabama 2 Matt Stafford QB Georgia 3 Eugene Monroe OT Vir 4 Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 5 Brian Orakpo DE Texas 6 Michael Oher OT Ole Mis 7 Malcom Jenkins CB Ohio St. 8 James Laurinitis LB Ohio St. 9 Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech 10 Rey Maualuga LB USC 11 Sam Brafford QB Oklahoma 12 Taylor Mays S USC 13 Aaron Curry LB Wake Forrest 14 Vontae Davis CB Illinois 15 Kn…

The OC is horrible. He doesn't have a clue how to call a game and take advantage of the opponent's weakness. And he sure as hell doesn't have a clue how to use his players to maximize their talents. The QB is bad. He doesn't seem to understand how to read defenses, and he can't throw the long ball. The WRs are bad. Drops and bad routes. The OL is bad. The don't open gaping holes for the running game, yet they don't pass block great either. Perplexing. The TEs and RBs are about the only thing worthwhile. Chuck it all.

Post your dream draft. Don't make it completely unrealistic, but allow yourself to dream about the what-ifs that happen every year in the NFL draft. Here's my dream draft: 1-16: Duke Robinson, OG, OU (I don't mix words. The Bears need OL, and with an improved OL the rest of the offensive players will be better, including the WRs that everyone seems to hate.) 2-48: Phil Loadholt, OT, OU (With the OG position taken care of, the Bears still need at the very least a OT, if not another OG. Getting Duke's teammate would be huge.) 3-81: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC (Projected as a 2nd to 3rd rounder, this would be perfect for the Bears. If Bradford, Stafford, Tebow, a…

...and so is Imren. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=267069 Old No. 46 just another sad reminder By Mike Imrem Everything bothers me about the Bears these days. They're like the brother-in-law you love because you're stuck with him, but everything about him drives you crazy. My latest discomfort with the Bears came in the form of something that around the NFL was just another team hiring another assistant coach. Around my breakfast table it was a bowl of yuck: Doug Plank is joining the New York Jets' coaching staff. Plank played safety under former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan, father of new Jets head coach Rex Ryan. …

I know that if we cut Tait, we'd gain around $7 million. I know that if we cut Ogunleye, we'd gain around $4 million. I know that if we cut Vasher, we'd lose around $7 million. But what if we traded Ogunleye or Vasher? Would we have to trade for another high priced guy, or what? Let's say we sent Vasher to Oakland for a 5th round pick- do we still have to pay his contract?

Specifically, I'm having the pipe dream of Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt. What if the Bears signed them both? That makes the WRs: Harrison, Holt, Hester, Bennett, and whoever else That thought makes Jason happy.

  20. I touched on this in another thread, but wanted to throw it out there. I think most here (though not all) would like to see us consider OL in the 1st round of the draft, particularly if one of the key OT prospects fall to us. But this is what is bothering me. If our two key FA signings before the draft are both OL (Omiyale & St. Clair) how likely is Angelo to then take an OT in the 1st round of the draft? IMHO, signing Omiyale and St. Clair does nothing to take away from our needs on the OL. Both are solid depth, and players I would not mind in a competition for a starting job, but neither are players I want to enter camp as the set starters. Yet if we…
