OK, let's see if we can get a 12 team league set for a free, redraft league. I have set up some initial settings with Yahoo Sports to get things rolling but these settings can obviously be changed if we can get enough members of the forum interested. I would love to see the Bears enter a draft with extra picks stockpiled. It seems every year we enter the draft with less picks than rounds. So the thought of giving up a future draft pick to obtain a promising prospect is questionable in my mind. Especially when the prospect has a few question marks, however small they are. It appears that Isaiah Battle is a highly regarded OT prospect, one who could possibly anchor an OL on the left side for a long time. So would you roll the dice on him? According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the is an unnamed league source suggesting Goldman is considering retiring at the ripe age of 27? Seriously? I certainly hope not. We need this guy back out on the field. It sounds like Bears NT Eddie Goldman’s future is in doubt

Get the D healthy. Retool the O Line (2 new starters at least) via the draft and FA. Pick a RB in the first round. Tell Turner to call the games like he did today... Agressive! Sign Briggs, Berrian, and Des Clark. Let Grossman go. You may go into the year with Orton as your QB but bring in a solid FA if available. If not available, draft a QB and keep Griese as your backup. Start Orton. Trade Benson for a mid/late round pick. Do it now. I'm hearing the injury he has will require a lot of work to rehab. Who believes he'll have what it takes to rehab it? Start thinking about paying Hester.

Cedric Benson told reporters he would have 1,800 yards right now if he was running through the holes that Matt Forte has been running through in Chicago. He has a better chance at 1,800 DWIs. Wherever he goes, the holes seem to close much more quickly. Using his career 3.6 yards per carry, it would take the delusional Benson exactly 500 carries to reach his lofty projections.

I'm sure this will not come as a popular suggestion, but should the Bears consider trading Tommie Harris? The current club is not built to win now. We are missing a starting caliber QB, RB, 2 WRs, OG, RT, DT, and saftety (or two). Add to that our LT is getting up in years and losing effectiveness, we have major and numerous holes to fill. Particulary after the crazy contract Tommy Kelly got from the Raiders, Tommie Harris is going to look to make history with his next contract. He will want to eclipse what Freeney got, probably seeking to average 10-13 mil per year. Can we afford to tie up ~10% of the salary cap in one player when we have SO many holes to fill?…

Back to back weeks that we allow a KO return for a TD. This one was crazy as Lockett didn't even switch sides of the field, we didn't even have a player inside the 20 when he ran past. I have no idea what is going on but that needs to be fixed. We started in a hole against ARZ and this one basically ended the game for us after we kept it close and the defense was playing good. We also allowed a 64 yard punt return by Sherman which setup a first half FG. 1. MadLith- I love your posts, but today is a game that I could make an argument that Hester lost for the Bears. His presence did nothing today. The Bears never got great field position on punts because of him. He would've had a 0 yard catch but instead ran backwards for a loss of 6. He dropped an easy TD. As much as this trade has flip-flopped throughout the season, it seems to be a draw at this point. The QB's performed fairly evenly less Cutler's interceptions. Ayers was pretty much a non-factor, especially for the 18th overall pick. Knox was obviously a complete surprise and made significant contributions as a rookie with over 1,400 All-purpose yards and 6 TDs. Both teams missed the playoffs, so there is no real winner yet. The Broncos do hold the Bears 1st rounder in next year's draft, but they traded their own 1st rounder to Seattle. we are approximately 9 million under the cap with next Monday as the deadline for applying future salaries to this yrs cap. What to do? - Sign Kyle to a long term deal? - Sign St Clair (FA after this yr)? - Sign Mike Brown (FA after this yr)? - Sign Brandon Lloyd (FA after this yr)? I was thinking on holding out on extending Kyle until the end of the yr (to see if he can maintain his level of performance) but it may be beneficial to extend him now and eat most of the cap this yr. Maybe I didn't pay much attention to it before because I never saw him play, but I just took a look at his numbers and was shaking my head as to how they equate him into Hall of Fame status. Somebody help me out here. He plays 7 seasons, only rushes for over 1000 yards twice, he wasn't that effective in the passing game, and only had 7 150+ yard games in his career. Matt Forte has already doubled that. I know they only played 14 games during that era and he did some great things on special teams but to me, Sayers numbers are not even close to Hall of Fame worthy. Every year as the draft gets closer the hype on quarterbacks intensifies and the bears are always needing a quarterback, I look back to a list that Bill Parcels made as it relates to drafting a quarterback. 1. 3 year starter 2. Be a senior 3. Graduate from college 4. start 30 games 5. win 23 games 6. post a 2-1 td to int ratio 7. >60% completion By that list most quarterbacks wouldn't get drafted. I have seen some ask this, though I am not sure if it has been talked about on this board. One reason I think it may be worth consideration is, if we put Basanez on the PS, which I am pretty sure he is still eligible for, would any other team really steal him? To steal him, another team would have to give him a spot on their 53 man roster, and I am just not sure anyone would be willing to do that.
