In general, how much of an impact do you think the rookie class can make this season? I think they can make a huge impact. We’re counting on Chris Williams to come in and compete and play really well. Matt Forte, from what we saw on film before he even came here and after he got here, he’s going to have an immediate impact as well. I think we’ll definitely have a role for Earl and he’ll see a lot of playing time. I think Kellen has a chance to come in in a defined role as well.

Setting the picture - I was watching the Packer/Seattle game at my friends house. When Favre made the scramble and underhanded throw right before half I turned to my friend and said "I bet Madden had to get up and clean himself off after that". Peace

Figure I'd start a new thread just to capture some combine players who stood out to me. I haven't watched everything from day 1 yet and most of these guys I'll have to go find some film on. DT Dante Stills. Smooth athlete, maybe a bit of a tweener but could be a good depth option on day 3. DT. Calijah Kancey ran a 4.67 forty. I wish he'd done the drills to see how fluid he was but just watching him run you can tell he's a good athlete. Stay tuned for his pro day. DT. Bresee. ran well, big dude. Looked a bit stiff running the hoops but looked more fluid in the other bag drills. Edge: Nolan Smith running a 4.39 forty and a 41in v…

While out driving I was listening to 670 and whoever it was (4 o clock hour) brought up an grading system that gives both offensive and defensive lines ratings based on several different things, sacks, disruptions, holding calls for/against, and they then devise a percentage off that. To the surprise of no one the Bears DLine ranks 2nd to last with a 17.5% rating . Only the 0-4 Giants rank lower at 17.1%. The OL, to some peoples surprise ranks 24th on this list with a pressure rate of 29.9% The OL will obviously have some bumps in the road but over the first quarter of the season I'm a little surprised no one has knocked their play. The DL on the other han…

Heres what im thinkin.... 1st a - Darrius Heyward-Bey (WR) Absolute beast of a wide reciever. Extremely fast with great size b - Jeremy Maclin (WR) More of a reciever than Bey and can be used all over the field c - Taylor Mays (S) My personal choice, this dude is a monster at safety. Size and speed our secondary lacks. If we keep Mike Brown, he could teach this kid to be a superstar. 2nd a - Phil Loadhalt (OT) Perfect run blocking monster. 6'8 330. Wed be set at both sides of the line. b - Torrance Taylor (DT) Not happy with anyone but Harris as of late. 3rd a - Brannan Sutherland (FB) Jason McKie, nothing more to say b - Marcus …

http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabi...ca/Default.aspx Bears unlikely to sign Faneca Apr 27 4/27/2010 11:15:24 AM | More The odds of the Bears signing free agent guard Alan Faneca seem increasingly remote according to Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times. While Jerry Angelo has had conversations with Faneca's representative, he has not been among the GMs that have expressed the most interest, according to a knowledgeable source. Fanaca, 33, was released by the Jets on Saturday after the team drafted UMass offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse.

Okay, now that Peppers is our man, I think it worth talking about what side of the DL he should play. Peppers has played both sides. As I understand it, he used to play RDE when Rucker was on the left, and then moved when Rucker left, but moved back to RDE this past year. Not sure, but something like that. I have read before that Peppers is best at RDE. That isn't to say he can't play LDE. Not saying that at all. But everything I have ever read was that his best position was RDE, and even when playing LDE, the team worked to move him back, which they eventually did. Brown has always played RDE. I believe that is what he played in college, and throug…

Some fairly impressive numbers from the Bears defense. In general, they are clearly better than last year and have improved even more since players got healthy and the acquisition of Sweat. Both Sweat and Edwards are playing at Pro Bowl levels. #1 against the Run (79 yds/game) #3 Interceptions (13) #9 Total Yards Allowed (318 yds/game) #11 Turnovers (20) #16 Passes Defended (50) #19 Defensive DVOA (last season they finished #32) #22 against the Pass (248yds/game) TJ Edwards #2 in tackles (125), also has 2 sacks, 2 INT, and 1 FF Jaylon Johnson #7T in interceptions (3) Montez Sweat #12 in sacks (9), (4g, 2.5 sack…

Two receivers I haven't heard anyone really talk about as possibilities for the Bears, which would seem to be for good reason as they share a lot of similarities to Devin Hester (at least in theory). But let's say the top receivers are gone by our second round pick (Crab, Maclin, DHB, Nicks, Britt, Robiskie), and Harvin has somehow falled and Williams is on the board. Should the Bears consider taking either of them (as talent-wise they would be considered good value) or do you pass because they seem too redundant? I've seen a bit of each, but I honestly haven't looked at them very much. I'm not even sure what kind of receiver they both are after watching their highlights …

  17. Hey Gang, With the retirement supposedly of Brett Favre once again from the Jets, speculation is that Mark Sanchez is going to fall all the way down to the 17th pick which the Jets currently own. I know that we need a lot of help on both sides of the ball however, would it be in our best interest if Sanchez is falling that far down that some how Angelo gets his head out of his ass and moves up one or two spots to grab Sanchez. It would be nice to obtain a great receiver however, if we are not able to get the ball to him down field, what the hell good is the receiver to us? It just seems that as the draft goes on and Sanchez has not moved, that the Bears talk with …

The Bears have formally submitted a contract offer to free agent OT John St. Clair. The proposal is for three years and probably about $5-6 million annually. Vernon Carey's six-year, $42M deal reset the tackle market, however, and St. Clair may wait for free agency to compare the Bears' offer against others. Source: Chicago Tribune

  20. We are finally put out of our misery for this season at around 3pm on Sunday. The Bears played GB tough the last time, but have not been the same team in weeks. Just like the 2nd game against DET and MIN, I don't see this one going too well. Game time temps are supposed to be in the low-20s to high teens with wind chills as low as 10 degrees. I can't see Santos making a kick longer than 40 yards. I expect them to dink and dunk, try to run the ball (won't be successful because of the OLine and Swift) and just survive the game without any major injuries. GB is playing for WC positioning, and it is a pretty big deal. It will be the difference between a …
