Someone did an interesting poll with profiles for quarterbacks where you had to pick one blind. I thought it might be interesting with this batch of profiles I found. I'll post the answers sometime later: Prospect A: Sees the field well and plays with an aggressive mentality. Has a gunslinger mentality, a strong arm and a quick release. Throws with touch. After the first preseason game, one thing is clear: The RB depth chart is going to get interesting. Howard is locked in at #1, but Cohen was damn impressive. I thought Carey was pretty damn impressive in limited carries as well. Cunningham may have surprised some with his one big run, and for his sake it better over shadow the rest. He didn't look all that explosive to me. In fact, when he came in after Cohen is looked like a significant slow down. Right now I'd say Carey is #2, Cohen is #3, and Cunningham is fighting with Langford for #4.

I don't have a lot to do at work today, so I'm running tons of mocks. The more and more I see them, the less and less I think a quality CB will be available after the 3rd round. Since there is virtually no way we go OL in RD1, that makes me think the value of CB is in the 2nd and 3rd. Multiple QBs with promise can be had in the mid-rounds, same goes for OL, S, and WR. But I just don't see it at CB. Is there a CB you like a lot that could warrant a mid-round pick that we'd like? There's only one I like, and it's Kevin King from Washington. I'm not quite sure why he's falling. Any good value out there?

Well Gotta give Orton Props again, We needed him to have a great day passing the ball and he did. Forte had a descent game, coulda done btter, but I think it was more the scheme then his ability to run. ST won it for us straight out. With all the corners out on injury it was surprising that the secondary played so well. They did give up plays but for the most part they kept everything in front of them. With Jerry firing the DB coach already it's safe to say where he thought the problems are this year and I agree. But with that loss we need to get players and a coach that can really help this defense in the secondary. In FA these three guys stand out to me as players we need to turn the corner in the D-backfield. Nnamdi Asomugha, UFA, Oakland Raiders Asomugha’s numbers don’t overwhelm other than his eight interceptions in ’06, but the big reason that he has only 241 career tackles and 10 interceptions is because opponents attack the side of the field that Asomugha isn’t on. The Bears went from Fields, Foreman, Mooney, St. Brown, Tonyan, Whitehair, and Patrick to Williams, Swift, Allen, Odunze, Everett, Bates, and Shelton in one offseason. It is hard to see this not being a top 12 offense. According to DVOA, the Bears had the 22nd best offense last year. 10 spots seems like a huge leap, but when you improve in every position group, 10 spots seems possible. If the team went 7-11 with 3 terrible losses, 10 wins seems like the floor as they should've had 10 last season. Playing the last place schedule, there are not many dominant teams on their schedule.

1. Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina ---This is a typical Lovie pick. He's a guy who could play some DT as well as DE; he's flying up draft boards. With Idonije being a FA at year's end, Peppers aging, and Wooton being useless, this pick makes sense. It also makes sense for another reason: right now, the Bears are 23rd overall in defense. 2. Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa ---McNutt is tearing up the Big-10. He's the best receiver in the conference and is 6'4" and 215 pounds. With the news that stud LSU P Brad Wing is going pro, would he or any other college or FA punter interest you? Podlesh was 21st in average last year and is 30th this year. While he was 6th in net last year, he's 19th this year. He's due a bit over a million every year until 2016.

When the Offense looks good they look damn good, almost unstoppable. Then the offense seems to disappear. Hoping the disappearing act goes away as the season goes on. Even with the injuries so far the Team is still able to play pretty well. The depth they have all around is way better then last year. Hope the team can get some of these guys healthy soon. Im liking the 2 DT we got in this years Draft.

Spotrac has his estimated contract at $10mil/yr. We will have no choice but to hope Burton recovers for 2020 but if not, long term it'll be Hooper and someone else. Another long shot pipe dream would be Chris Jones DE KC who I wanted in the draft. I'd pay him and line him up with Hicks. Forget the edge rush issues with Floyd because Hicks, Goldman, Jones, and Mack would wreck Olines. We'd have Nichols and Williams as backups and maybe we can hang onto RRH.
