Regardless of what we feel about the 3 picks there is one intangible to add to this mix and that is the Marshal trade. 1st Rd DE/OLB Not necessarily a scheme fit but this kid may force the Bears to diversify their scheme more. 2nd Rd WR Emery seems to like big physical WRs and gets himself one here and gives Cutler another weapon for his 29th B-day. 3rd Rd WR/SS Jay gets an engagement gift and Lovie gets his annual safety. The trade has to be included in this round of the draft since this was the result of the first 3rd rd pick via Carolina for Greg Olsen. BTW unless Idonije is going back to DT(I wouldn't be surprised by that) McClellin is not a 4 dow…

Per Rotoworld This is as of 20 minutes ago so I believe this is a quote after Cutler and Pace joined the Bears. Still, I think Holt or Matt Jones would make tremendous sense and would allow the Bears to go with 3 WR's and Davis as a 4th and whomever as the 5th (Lloyd or someone that could contribute on special teams like Riddeau?) and would allow the Bears to take a high upside project at De in the 2nd round (a guy that has the tools to get to the QB) or to fill our need at the safety position or if a good tackle or guard prospect fell we could tab them and let them develop. If the Bears ignored the character issues with Jones or talked to him and dec…

I had forgotten my username which is different than my display name and the password recovery function for some reason never worked. Anyway, just wanted to get this off my chest: Damn it sucks to see Green Bay in the NFC championship while we sit here and talk about drafting O lineman next year =**(

Man I hate fumbled snaps! All our QBs have had a few this preseason (Orton had another one yesterday from Beekman). My question is, are we overreacting to them happening in practice due in part to Rex's history? Is it possible every other team is seeing the same amount of fumbled snaps since guys are just shaking the rust off? I hope this isn't gonna be an issue again during the season, regardless of who the QB is.

  7. How about this plan: Trade our first round pick to the Giants for Osi and their first rounder. Then sign Mike Wallace to a heavily front loaded deal, and surrender our new first (32nd overall) to the Steelers. We get one of the top young receovers in the game, and add a legitimate pass rushing threat opposite Peppers.

Our O is good enough to win it all. Our D is a disgrace. Wait, what?!!! This is the polar opposite of what we've been experiencing for decades. OUr O did just fine. Other than a couple of questionable play calls. 4th and ? Kick the damn ball Kromer and Trestman!!!! But the D was gashed again. An off the street hack, had an Earl Campbell-like night. I'd look like Bronko Nagurski out there against our D. We need a change. Hard. It's not working. We can only beat the bottom feeders.

I can't beleieve what we are paying some of these guys. Also Notice: How little money has been spent on keeping our Franchise QB protected compared to the other postions. Additionally, Last Years starting OL salary totalled only $10.6 Million! 2013 Player salary: http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Bears&Year=2013 2012 Players salary: http://www.sportscity.com/nfl/salaries/chi...bears-salaries/ Peppers $16M (I like PEP and he is a restructure candidate) Cutler $10M (I think he will show us why he was worth two draft picks and think he will earn a multi year extension) Marshall $9.5M (should be extended) Melto…

NFL.com grades have been pretty damn consistent with the spot players are being drafted. It makes me feel good to think Pace is finding value. Below are the averages of all picks, and the value of the Chicago pick(s). The ones that are highlighted are the highest rated pick in the respective round. Other than the 4th round, the Bears are easily above the average. RD 1: AVG-6.27, CHI-6.5 RD 2: AVG-5.86, CHI-6.1 RD 3: AVG-5.53, CHI-6 RD 4: AVG-5.42, CHI-5.1, 5.2, 5.4 (AVG-5.23) RD 5: AVG-5.29, CHI-6.1 RD 6: AVG-5.22 (through 15 picks), CHI-5.5

Hey, a football game! Something new to talk about!

  16. Crazy to think the opening line has the Bears favored, but they do. My assumption is that will slide to DAL being the favorite as the week goes on and DAL gets hammered with money. At this point, it is probably another loss until something happens with the defense. If they can't get pressure, they can't have Stevenson out there trailing WRs by 5 yards on every play. I don't even know what type of coverage he is playing, but he has been one of the worst players on the defense, and teams just start targeting him on every play. Hopefully the offense decides to get the TEs involved because they combined for only 3 targets against DET. 2 for Kmet and 1 for Loveland. …

So maybe we were a little too hasty to let Slauson go after all. It looks like we could've really used his depth inside, especially if Grasu falters.

We are pretty set now on defense. There will be one more opportunity to add players when teams start dropping players on their roster for draftees. DE-Young,Allen,Houston,Bass,Lane,Robertson,Scott, Idonije,Washington I think we only keep 4 Young-Allen-Houston-Bass Idonije might stick but doubt it, he can play all positions DT-Collins,Ratliff,Furgeson,Sutton,Paea I think all 5 of these make squad LB-Briggs,SCM,Bostic,Greene,Jones,Williams,Franklin,Senn,Wilson I think Jones makes it to final roster along with Briggs,SCM,Bostic,Greene,Senn …

I'm still searching for OLB prospects thinking we'll be keeping this 3-4 defense under someone, possibly Fangio. Take a look at Lorenzo Carter against Notre Dame and tell me who you see. He doesn't have the sacks stats to go with a top 10 pick but neither did Floyd when we took him. It's hard to assess draft stock right now players like Carter, low production, in sacks not tackles, but high potential. He might be a good candidate if we trade back a few spots.
