Very surprised there is not a thread on Leonard Floyd's performance last night. I was at work so I have yet to watch the game but I've seen highlights of his play. Both sacks, and even his "hurry" on Rodgers in the 1st quarter were excellent plays. Most impressive was seeing him cross the face of the OT and then fight through the double team right up the middle to take Rodgers down.

Find a long term deal with Floyd now. The quote below is from Trevathan who usually doesn't give that kind of detailed praise. The article has more good info on how Floyd is developing at the guidance of our new OLB coach Monachino. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/bears/ct-spt-bears-leonard-floyd-breakout-season-biggs-20190617-story.html “I don’t know many linemen you got, but you better put some more on there because he’s been putting his best foot forward,” Trevathan said. “He’s been working his tail off and he’s been learning this defense in and out. I’ve been seeing him be more explosive, putting on a little more weight, a lot stronger, a lot more …

  6. David Kaplan asked a number of softball questions as one would expect, but Loyd really impressed me from a PR standpoint. He interviewed extremely well and was very humble. He comes off as a genuinely respectful young man. He wants to bulk up to 255 and contribute in any way possible. He seems to just want to play football and help the team win. I liked what I saw. Welcome to the Bears Mr. Floyd! Now, go kick some ass!

Floyd is getting some 1st team reps. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago-bears/pos...onathan-bullard I was impressed by what he did in his first game. He looks the part of a good outside rusher and he was physical enough with the OTs to take advantage of his quickness at times. In the 3rd quarter he tossed aside the RT creating a clear lane to the QB. The ball was released before he could close the play. While he's not the strongest it seems the coaches are teaching how to use his speed and quickness to get into players before they are set. I realize that's not top OT competition but neither is it something Floyd was supposed to be capable of against anyone.…

Floyd IMO is still ascending. I think with his body type we'll see that for a couple more years as he gains strength. The decision on his 5th year option is due this offseason and with all the things he does well I don't see anyway we can let him go after next season. So we're likely paying him the 5th year option which I believe is worth around $13-15mil. I'd rather see if we can work out a 3 or 4yr extension and since he doesn't have elite sack numbers try to keep him for around $8-10mil/yr. He's a good player but not elite in any category and his injury history mucks up the negotiating waters. If he's here for 4 more years (3 yr extension) he's just 30 when…

So this is Year 2 for them. They seemed to get a pass for last year, but the record is the record, and Flus is the losing coach in franchise history right now (3-14). Assuming the Bears don't go 14-3, he is going to need a few winning seasons just to get to .500 as a coach. So if the Bears have another losing season, say 7-10, and he goes to 10-24 in his career, does he get a Year 3? For Getsy, the offense has not looked good, they brought in more of his guys (now have Patrick, ESB, Tonyan, and Lewis), added a first round tackle, a true WR1, and made the midseason trade for Claypool (WR2/3). They also cast off Mustipher. So if the offense struggles again, is it Field…

Flus was hired by Poles, the outside noise is get a new coach but nothing has come from inside with that tone. Flus has shown growth with the defense but the offense still has a lot to be desired. The offense is Gesty's baby and he will be gone. Flus is not perfect but he's new to the job and has the team vitialized with a long losing streak. The loses are bad but Poles won't hold Flus responsible for his first season, he gutted the roster. In the last 6 games we are 4 and 2 . In a coaching world that's progress. Stability is never established by constantly making changes. With a new QB, and new OC, the winning will get more consistent. IF we win out 8-9 that's a huge t…

If you get a chance, listen to this podcast with Flus. He sounds much better in this type of format. I wonder if it's the press conferences that he is just not comfortable with. Here he sounds much better and actually sounds like he knows what he is doing.

  15. My batting average is very good seeing live games. I'm hoping to improve on that this Sunday! Go Bears!

  16. Bears seem committed to bad defense and special teams for at least another year. If this move doesn't work out, and we have another year like this past season, Trestman deserves to be on the hot seat.

http://www.fanskrit.com/ They aren't the cheapest, but they are original and quality. It's all Chicago oriented, and they really want participation, if you're not buying. Plus, some of the proceeds go to charity.
