With Shaffer in the game now you are now trying to get him killed. Hanie needs to be playing - period. Peace

This was a game filled with players who will affect the draft on the first two days. I only saw the 2nd half and it's recorded so I'll likely go back and watch it all. For now... Jonathan Allen: In two college playoff games I've yet to be impressed. I don't see the game wrecker I was expecting to see but he can also be holding back a bit knowing he's about to make $30 or 40mil. His stat line was good 7 tackles, 1 sack so one of these days I'll go back and watch the game and focus even more on him, unless of course our friends at Draftbreakdown cut it up. DeShaun Watson: Speaking of making $30 or $40mil there is no way to watch that game and not come a…

I was thinking we can do a Talkbears consensus pick for each selection up until the Bears pick. No trades, etc. I will then remove the selected player and make another poll until we get to 14 (hopefully before the real draft). If it goes quick, we can go beyond and have two mocks to compare on draft day. The minimum will be 20 total votes or 10 votes for one player to move on. I am curious to see how this plays out.

  6. Kevin Siefert from ESPN sat down with Lovie Smith over breakfast today. He suggests there's an Olsen article coming up later, here's some talk on the makeup of their lines.

I was looking at the opponents in 2009, and I know it's not even close to this season being over, but, next year we have: Rams Cardinals Browns Lions @ Bengals @ Seahawks @ 49ers @ Lions Pretty easy. Thoughts??

How do you quantify how much of an upgrade the new acquisitions on the OLine will be? Well, I looked at a few stats and this one stood out: Sack Rate (Last 2 seasons) Thuney - Sack Rate 0.16% 4 allowed in 2500 snaps Dalman - Sack Rate 0.27% 4 allowed in 1486 snaps Jackson - Sack Rate 0.17% 2 allowed in 1148 snaps These 3 players allowed only 10 Sacks allowed in 5,134 snaps, a 0.19% sack rate. The 3 players they are replacing and what they did in 2024: Jenkins 4 / 495 Pryor 7 / 659 Shelton 3 / 743 These 3 players allowed 14 Sacks in 1,897 snaps, a 0.73% sack rate, close to 4x more sacks over the same amount of snaps. Caleb was sacked 68 times las…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3484075.story "If the Bears' defensive front four appears to be in a crooked alignment Sunday night, don't adjust your television. It is supposed to look that way. Having a couple of the defensive linemen in a cocked position -- usually the interior linemen -- is just one of the minor tweaks assistant head coach Rod Marinelli has implemented since taking over the defensive line." ************************************************************************** Maybe I was drinking too much during the games but I don't recall our DTs lining up this way during the preseason, at least not routinely. On the 30th anniversary of the Bears 1986 SB trouncing of New England, a post I saw somewhere asked the question: "Would the 1985 Bears win it all today?" I think we all believe that team to be the best of all time, but could that collection of talent beat the 2015 teams? For the sake of argument, I'm only talking about whether the defense would dominate. Eight members of the defense were multiple-time probowlers. Only The Fridge, Mike Richardson, and Leslie Frazier were not. That doesn't concern me much since Fridge's role was a run-stuffer/blocker-occupier, and the CB duo of Richardson and Frazier never had to cover anyone more than a second or two. So, could …

I hope all the Bear fans, media dicks that doubted or talked shit about Cutler see how good the guy really is. This O was doing a lot of great stuff and now it looks like donkey shit!!! Wasting a good D sucks! Its safe to say if Cutler is playing that would have been an easy win. Like the last 2 as well. This really blows

Okay, so most have seen that we have re-signed McClover. Question is, what does this mean? Right now, Williams is dealing w/ a foot injury, and if McClover was simply added to compensate in the short term for an injured LB, than his addition means absolutely nothing, and he will be gone by September cut downs. If this was not the reason he was added though, the implications could be interesting. One, at the LB position, we kept 6 last year. Urlacher and Briggs are pure locks, and Pisa I think is a virtual lock as well. Williams would seem to be the next more secure. You then have Roach, Hunter and Freeman. If we keep McClover, I have a hard time seeing us …

First I have to admit the free tequila shots at the bar made this game feel better than it was. Cutler: With another Oline combination in front of him against a strong pass rush threat he kept his composure and stayed within the game plan. Overall a good game with no turnovers. Oline: I think these guys were the cause of all the conservative play calls early in the game. With interior line of Omameh, Slauson, and Ducasse I believe Gase didn't want big mistakes early and allowed the Oline time to settle in and get a feel for the inside pressure the Vikings like to bring. Later on he opened up the play calling. RBs: Forte is still a good RB bu…

Ok, now that you are hooked and ready to rip me apart for suggesting Tebow, just know that I'm not thinking about the Bears drafting him. I'm thinking about the Vikings drafting him. I don't know about you guys, but that scares the hell out of me. For some reason I think he would do some serious damage for the Vikings. Thoughts? Is he not a perfect fit for them?

While not the top tire list of needs, I think he'd be a good addition and an improvement over McKie. Not sure it even matters as he played most games and it seems JA's only looking for guys with only 1 start in FA... Sorry, couldn't resist the dig!

I realize that it may seem waaaaaaaaaay early for this, but Yahoo has opened Fantasy Football 2010 for entrance. I'm wondering if people are interested in joining yet. It might just give us another time waster of football related things to talk about. I've already renewed the league Talkbears 2 and set a draft time of Sept 5th at 8:00pm. Draft invites have been sent to all of last year's teams. I'm looking forward to seeing where the Bears WRs are ranked. Any thoughts?
