Regardless if this is a PR move agasint the flak he got not signing eBay items at the bar at Wrigley Field, this is a nice move on his part. Kudos to Jay... I'm glad he's our QB and not the whining bitter old man that wants to stick it to the team that made him who he was... http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...gallery?index=1

  2. Per Rotoworld, Kansas City has agreed to terms with Mike Brown. I'll be sorry to see him in a different uniform, but I hope he has success in K.C. With a very, very young group on defense, Kansas City could benefit a ton from a leader like Brown in the locker room.

Found this at the end of an article on Rideau and thought I'd post it to give some props to Kreutz. Aside from his play this is why he's one of the team leaders: Center Olin Kreutz, a six-time Pro Bowler, remained on the field after practice to work one-on-one with guard Johan Asiata, an undrafted rookie free agent from UNLV. I've never heard of Asiata and yet here's our Pro Bowl center out there after practice helping him out.

  4. I've been reading the thread on the Packers' new 3-4 defense and how our offense might stack up against it, and I figured there should be a thread about the Lions' defensive changes as well. Let's get one thing out of the way immediately: yes, they're the Lions. Yes, they're coming off a winless season. But they're also fielding an almost entirely different team from the one that went 0-16, especially on D. They're not only changing their defensive scheme (from a Tampa-2 to a blitz-heavy, Jim Johnson-style 4-3,) they're also fielding an almost entirely new personnel group. By my count, they could be returning as few as three starters on defense, which is a good…

I mean, sure, we all want to see how Cutler looks. Let's be honest. But there are other things in the balance too. Things that somewhat hang off of Cutler's presence and others that just plain need to be answered after last year. You can't tell much from the first preseason game but there are things we can watch for, even in this exhibition game. Here's my list: 1.) Is Hester a real WR? I've always said he won't make it as a WR because he just didn't have the smarts. But that was always with the expectation that the Bears would never have a Probowl QB on their roster. Does the addition of Cutler make Hester into something I never believed he could be? …

saw this on rotoworld : "The Bears are expected to sign free agent CB Roderick Hood to a one-year contract by as soon as Tuesday. The Browns gave up on Hood surprisingly quickly, but he'll be able to help cornerback-needy Chicago. Hood's been on the Bears' radar since late May. Source: Chicago Tribune "

Looking great. 50 yard Kickoff return, 38 yard Punt return, and a 43 yard pass reception.

1 year deal could do this for the Bears

I wanted to get everyone's opinion on a proposed trade in one of my leagues. I have been leaning both ways. T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Brandon Marshall for Torry Holt, Greg Olsen, and Santonio Holmes. BTW this is a PPR league.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,3484075.story "If the Bears' defensive front four appears to be in a crooked alignment Sunday night, don't adjust your television. It is supposed to look that way. Having a couple of the defensive linemen in a cocked position -- usually the interior linemen -- is just one of the minor tweaks assistant head coach Rod Marinelli has implemented since taking over the defensive line." ************************************************************************** Maybe I was drinking too much during the games but I don't recall our DTs lining up this way during the preseason, at least not routinely. In today's Tribune, an article by Fred Mitchell (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-16-walter-payton-statue-sep16,0,3208115.story) advises that the Park District is opposed to a statue being erected outside Soldier Field. I personally find this appalling as the excuses that the Park District give is that the statue for "Sweetness" is not for a war veteran and does not take into consideration other Bear Hall of Fame members or legends. I am hoping that many Bear Fans will write to the Park District to voice displeasure with the Park District's lack of respect to the greatest running back of all time and the founding franchise of the NFL. Here is the…

  14. T.J. Houshmandzadeh got a lot of attention this offseason because of what he said, in addition to what he did: sign with the Seahawks. He's been quiet on the field with his new team, trailing Nate Burleson and John Carlson slightly in receptions and yards. But Housh isn't done talking yet. In advance of this week's game against the Bears, Housmandzadeh was asked if he had any serious talks with Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo. "Man, the Bears ain't holler at me,'' he said. "Jerry Angelo probably didn't even think I could play. So I'm going to show him Sunday." Houshmandzadeh will have to show him without being fully healthy. The former Bengal sat out practi…

  16. Started by Connorbear,

I am extremely happy with the development of our WRs. Hester, Bennett, and Knox have all stepped up big time. I do not see this as a need next yr. I would say FA and the draft should concentrate on: - Offensive line - Defensive backfield Get a top tier OL in FA and then draft best available of the 2 in the 3rd and 4th round. Peace

  17. Started by Controlled Chaos,

You can only go as far as your offensive line will take you. This organization continues to ignore it. A great O-Line will make an average QB and average RB good. A shit O-line will make a great QB and great RB look below average. It's just the way it is now. Gone are the days when the O-line were just anonymous bludgeoners. They are VITAL to offensive success. That's why most of us in here were clamoring for Faneca regardless of his price tag. It's that big of a deal. When I hear Thayer and Hampton talk about certain players lack of knowledge with hand positioning or leverage. I'm dumbfounded. These are supposed to be elite players playing at their highest lev…

some *excerpts... ok i can understand a coach getting fed up with the same questions over and over and wanting to stick up for his players. stating "we've got a good offensive line" a bit over the top but... he has no idea why?? that's a pretty scary statement. even taking heat and getting fed up with the media this is an amazing statement to utter even in your sleep. hmmmmmm... maybe if i knew each player personally i would like them too. but to say we have "good players and good depth"? is he living on bizzaro world? in regards to beekman... this is his high recommendation? his analysis of our supposedly future center? he is…

  19. Started by nfoligno,

My understanding is, this was the video seen at halftime, http://www.chicagobears.com/walterpayton.asp All I can say is, it was incredible to grow up watching Payton. You always hear your father talk about having watched this player or that player, but for me, when talking to my kids, there is no greater legacy to point to having seen Walter Payton.

  20. We've already discussed this here on the forum! Interesting read, even though as of late, Morrissey's been more Mariotti... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,6568918.column Lovie Smith inanities deserve to be reported Related Is Lovie Smith on speaking terms with the truth? The plain truth and Lovie Smith are not always on speaking terms. Is that good for the team? Yes, if you can't say anything nice, how can you fill up a news conference? No, coaches should be critics (and critics think they could be coaches). Truthfully, I don't care what Lovie Smith says. Bears players support coach Smith Topics Super Bowl Ph…
