I am waiting for the finger pointing to start after that loss, especially after 3x 4th Quarter INTs by Fitzpatrick. The Jets did just enough to lose. Kind of weird that Marshall's first year with the Bears, the team goes 10-6 and misses the playoffs, and now the Jets do the same thing. That was the Bears best record with Marshall. This is only the 2nd winning season for Marshall (both 10-6 teams).

Yes...he has sucked as a returner, but damn has he been good in the slot. I want him back next year. Showed good hands, a knack for being in the right spot, and even did a nice job gaining additional yards after the catch. He reminded me a bit of Bobby Engram late in the year (who is the best slot receiver I can ever remember the Bears having in my span). I presume Royal will be cut (or restructure) and given what Marc showed, I'm okay giving him some additional responsibility.

On another board someone brought up trading Young and cutting Houston. I thought we should hang onto the both of them as I thought both had a good year. I decided to look up some numbers, and they were A LOT better than I thought. The 2 of them combined for 13.5 sacks in 857 snaps. The 13.5 sacks would have been good for 4th in the league, and for comparisons sake, Watt and Mack who were 1 and 2 in the league in sacks both played over 900 snaps. That duo was really underrated.

Gase has been a busy man. So far it looks like he has had/or will have interviews with the Giants, Browns, Dolphins, and Eagles. The Eagles interview tomorrow will be his 2nd with them. Can't imagine he returns.

I realize this is a total left field comment, but these are two QB's, who some top NFL people (Greg Gabriel being one of) have raved about. Lynch is probably off the board, but Wentz is another guy who gets high marks. Both of these guys have a ton of talent and would benefit from an organization who has a stability in the coaching ranks and ideally the ability to be patient (as they need to develop). Decided to really focus on him tonight and I'm not overly impressed. Doesn't run hard all the time and seems to be coming out on 3rd down, which I don't get if he's a top pick.

There are many reasons why the Bears could go either way on the TE issue, but I believe getting rid of Bennett makes the most sense for a few reasons. 1. He has a $6M+ cap hit next year. He'll want a contract extension/raise, again, and Miller will require much less money. That $6M+ is way more than Bennett's worth, especially considering the following: 2. He appears to be a character concern. He's one of those odd players who wants to do way more stuff than just football, similar to one of the main anti-Marshall comments.
