Keeping up with our division rivals here is who they drafted, and my opinions on that. Detroit 1/20 C Ragnow good player, moves well, not that strong (yet) and this seemed early for him to come off the board 2/11 RB Kerryon Johnson he's a good RB but not special in any area, he will definitely help give them a solid running game 3/18 S Tracy Walker NFLDraftScout had him listed as a 5th Rd prospect. NFL.com has his graded as a career backup potential, again Rd 5-6 4/14 DE Da'shawn Hand ranked as 2/3rd Rd seems to be good value here in the 4th but for his athletic talent he underperformed in college 5/16 G Tyrell Crosby a…

I wouldn't expect less from Howard in terms of work ethic. A player in such a physically demanding position as starting RB doesn't stay on the field like Howard has in 2 years without the training effort behind the scenes. Last year he worked on improving his receiving ability and this year he's even more focused on it. He doesn't need to be elite as a receiver, just effective enough that he drags coverage with him early on the route. With that he'll have a big impact on the offense's ability to disguise plays and get some chunk plays, including those where Howard catches the ball and makes the first defender miss. What I especially like is the RB coach taking…

In the draft I preferred Edmunds over Smith but after watching this video on Smith's background I understand better why we went in this direction. If we consider the on-the-field abilities relatively equal, even if Edmunds and Smith are different types of players, then the leadership qualities and work ethic Smith has will put him in position to become the new leader of our defense. https://www.chicagobears.com/video/meet-the-rookies-roquan-smith

https://www.chicagobears.com/news/urlacher-shows-humility-gratitude-in-speech Class act all the way. As a fan I'm proud to say he's a Hall of Fame Chicago Bear. I'm glad he introduced my kids to great Bears defense and that great MLB tradition we have.

With the unexpected good play of Kush continuing as we near the end of camp the news yesterday was that Daniels will spend the next week practicing at Center. Keep in mind Kush just started the Hall of Fame game at Center and Hiestand said he played well. That means is Kush is the starter at LG he might be the backup Center on game day, or it could be Daniels. Right now it appears the top 3 options at Center are Whitehair, Kush, Daniels. It seems clear Grasu is on the outside looking in as he competes for a roster spot. It's hard to know what coaches think of other interior backups like Morgan and Watford but if they feel they can be viable backups this could be th…

Bengals 30 - 27 Here is what I saw: Offense looked out of sync. Trubisky really needed one more drive, but in general, nothing was smooth, which was disappointing. I didn't help that Howard, Cohen, Robinson, and Gabriel didn't dress, but he still had White, Burton, Miller, and Shaheen to start with. Bray looked better than Daniel, which will be interesting to see going forward. The main problem was pressure and O-Line issues. Massie is terrible and I hope Coward shows enough potential to make the move to him before Week 1. Massie is not an NFL starter and borderline swing tackle at best. This is nothing new and he actually looks worse this year than he did …

This from King's FMIA: " Looks bad for the Packers. So hurt, and so reliant on the quarterback who clearly is not whole." Oh, wa, wa wa. Poor Puckers. Who cried for us the last few years when injuries destroyed? My wish is that they linger in limbo for years with Rodgers. We've got the D to make him nuts now. So, Mr. King, don't expect me or other Bears fans to feel the least bit of sympathy. Be aware: these Bears are FOR REAL!

So if my understanding is correct, tomorrow is the day the NFL can announce a change for the Bears vs Pats game to be moved to prime time Sunday night. Any chance they do?

I'm curious how everyone thinks the game plan to beat the pats should be for the bears? I think they need to run the ball and keep Brady off the field as much as possible. We can't beat them in a shoot out. Time to use Cohen, Cunningham, and Howard. Take advantage of our OL and attack their line and punish their def. and not try and be slick. Some quick passes to the tight ends. Not saying we should not be aggressive, but this should be a game where the run sets up the pass and stick to running before anything else. I don't think there is anyway we can beat them by out scoring them. But easier said than done.

Why were we putting Mack in coverage so often and leaving our first round pick on the bench? Put all the player mistakes aside this is one strategic decision by Fangio that I still can't figure out. If you want to drop 8 in coverage put the best 8 coverage guys on the field especially when Mack has a bum ankle.

I was one of the people complaining about not resigning Cam but Pace was right not to. He has missed several games because of injuries and now goes on IR. Pace has made a lot of mistakes along the way, but has also did some good things, he made the right call on this player.

Our oline is ranked top 15, I think 11th last time I checked. Next year we have 5 OL signed to contracts. Long, Leno, Whitehair, Daniels and Sowell On the roster this year are: those 5 plus Kush Coward Massie Witzmann PS: Dejon Allen and Willie Beavers I think Long will be back but the multi injuries with cause concern for his future. I think we resign Witzmann and Coward and Coward becomes our RT going forward.( they have kept him on the roster all year even though he has not played) I think W. Beavers gets promoted to the roster and is looked as a swing tackle going forward.( he was ranked as a 4th round pick in his draft) …

Redford had a lackluster career at Tulsa but for the last year has been training with former kicker John Carney. He has put of 15 lbs for leg strength and has been deadly accurate. He may be ready to blossom. The fact he took a year off to work out instead of trying to find a job, speaks highly for his dedication. He may be the cheap guy for our woes.

Not sure if anyone has caught on to this but former Bears WR Earl Bennett hosts a podcast (I guess you call it that on YouTube) called ProStyle Podcast. He recently had an ‘episode’ where he interviewed Robbie Gould and talked about various things to include he being from Chicago and encouraging him to return to the Bears. Good watch if you have the interest or time. Link here: Anyhow, Earl posted something interesting on Twitter today regarding this same subject . https://mobile.twitter.com/EarlBBennett/status/1091087651703279618?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
