There is a good chance that the Bears top 4 franchise receiving leaders are currently on the team. Johnny Morris is #1 in Receiving Yards with 5059. DJ would need 2.5 more years with his average numbers to surpass Morris as the franchise leader. Then you have Odunze, who as a first round pick will more than likely get a 2nd contract. If he gets one, and just say he puts up his rookie numbers annually, he would surpass Morris halfway thru Year 6. Then you have Loveland and Burden. Both have the highest pedigrees of Receivers that the Bears have drafted (besides Odunze lol) since Alshon (3rd in franchise). A wild note about Alshon, if he stayed with the Bears, he…

Here are the best seasons for the top 4 receiving options for Fields: 87-1175, 4 81-1055, 4 62-873, 9 50-544, 7 That is 280-3647 yds, 24 TDs combined for just Moore, Mooney, Claypool, and Kmet. Take 10% off that for shared targets and you still have 252-3283, 21 TDs to just the top 4 players. No RBs, no WR4-5, and no TE2-3. Last year, with the worst passing offense in the league, Monty had 34-316, 1 TD, ESB/Pringle/Pettis/Jones combined for 57-810, 7 TD 91-1126, 8 TD and Herbert as RB2 had 9-57, and 1 TD, so the remainder of the receivers totaled 100-1183, 9 TD, if you take 10% off for shared targets, that is 90-1065, 8 TD. So in theory, i…

I brought up Miller when talking about Mundy (he has him ranked as the 26th of 75 safeties)...Well now he's talking DEs... #16 Jared Allen Having signed with the Chicago Bears for 2014, Jared Allen could make a huge impact in helping rebuild a once great defense. Allen will join newcomers Willie Young and Lamarr Houston to give Chicago a solid, aggressive rotation at defensive end. #10 Willie Young Young isn’t well-known outside of the NFC North, but his physicality and the opportunity presented to him in Chicago give him the ability to launch himself onto the national radar in 2014. #6 Lamarr Houston One of the best all-around defens…

Since it's packer week, I got to thinking about the things in football I hate the most. Mine, in order, are the following: 1) The packers 2) Brett Farv 3) Ridiculous seat prices and PSLs that continue to rise 4) Locked Thanksgiving home games for Dallas and Detroit 5) John Madden What are yours?

Scanning across some top 50 player lists and anywhere from 13 to 15 of the top 50 players in this draft are DBs. Depending on who's board you are using there's a few more just outside the top 50 as well including players like Melifonwu, Adoree Jackson (seen him as late 1st Rd pick too), or Quincy Wilson. The rankings among CBs are all over the place and have changed dramatically since 31 Dec. Jabril Peppers who was largely considered a top 5 pick now is listed in the late 1st and in some places early 2nd Rd (Jeremiah has him at 33rd overall). Bottom line is that we're in a very good spot picking early in the 3rd Rd if we still want a DB. http://www.nfl.com/new…

I was surprised to see Montgomery listed among the top 5 on this list. I think he's a good fit for what we need and his ability to make the first unblocked defender miss will add significantly to our offense even if he doesn't have breakaway speed. Regardless I'm not sure I see him as a top 5 RoY candidate. If he's in the discussion late in the season it means our offense is kicking some butt. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001030975/article/top-25-nfl-rookies-in-best-position-for-year-1-success 5) David Montgomery, RB, Chicago Bears: We're riding the Montgomery hype train with colleague/conductor Adam Rank. Here are the top FA & Draft prospects known to date for 2008. How do we fill out our needs at this position? We obviously have to make some assumptions as to our actual needs. I would say OK at center is solid. I think Tait moves to ORT and is solid there. We have several options at OG, resign R Brown, I did not like St. Clair at OT but think he might actually be an excellent OG, Garza? ..... One of these 3 would be a good fill at OG That means we need, IMO, an OG and LOT. Here are the top FA 2008 listed by one site. How many will actually hit FA is another question... I have not followed the College scene this year and theref…

With the Bears having the ability to essentially outbid everyone, who would be the top players you would like to see added in the offseason. For me, it would be Da'Ron Payne, DT, Orlando Brown Jr., OT, Jamel Dean, CB, with Mike Gesicki, TE as an Honorable Mention. That would add basically 4 top level players to the roster before Poles fills the rest in with some mid-level deals and vet mins before the draft. I figure other guys like Pocic (Center), an Edge and LB will also be in play. I could also see them signing two new DTs. However, I will go with these 4 today. Payne seems like the most obvious choice, I hope they get him. Brown is a huge need, and…

    1. Justin Blackmon*, Oklahoma State WR (6-1, 215): The most explosive receiver in college football has a game that is eerily similar to Terrell Owens'. His combination of size, strength and athleticism overwhelms defenders, and his penchant for playmaking makes him a potential anchor for a sophisticated passing game. Throw in the fact that Oklahoma State's coaches frequently have suggested Blackmon's skills are more advanced than Dez Bryant's at a similar stage, it's easy to place Blackmon at the top of the list. 2. Michael Floyd, Notre Dame, WR (6-3, 224): Floyd might rank as the best pass catcher in college football since Larry Fitzgerald. He displays unbelievable …

With the play calling the score guys said it looks like Trestman doesn't trust Cutler so his play calling is the short dink and dunk variety. I only saw the first half but in the first half I don't remember the Bears throwing down field at all. Could this be the reason the Bears offense looks soooo out of whack???? Trestman is calling a conservative game plan to limit the INT and turnovers? That could explain the lack luster performance by the offense. IF the players are not happy with the play call there could be problems. Im all for trying to limit the Bears exposure to turn overs but playing it conservative will only hold this offense back.

Well JA since you like players that bet on themselves, the guy you should have taken care off this offseason is on a roll. Matt Forte 345 receiving and 440 rushing for a grand total of 785 on 122 touches for a 6.3 avg per touch. JA throw in your cards your not a good gambler.

Per Rotoworld This is as of 20 minutes ago so I believe this is a quote after Cutler and Pace joined the Bears. Still, I think Holt or Matt Jones would make tremendous sense and would allow the Bears to go with 3 WR's and Davis as a 4th and whomever as the 5th (Lloyd or someone that could contribute on special teams like Riddeau?) and would allow the Bears to take a high upside project at De in the 2nd round (a guy that has the tools to get to the QB) or to fill our need at the safety position or if a good tackle or guard prospect fell we could tab them and let them develop. If the Bears ignored the character issues with Jones or talked to him and dec…
