  1. Started by AZ54,

Just taking a quick run through in a draft sim (thedraftnetwork) and I run into this scenario at 37. Safety is a need and Battle at this spot is a consideration but I'm not crazy about that option because I think there will be good safeties available later in the draft. Emerson I like as a CB but if Graham plays well then this need drops a bit and then we're looking more for an inside NB talent versus someone who can play outside. You can find that type of CB later in the draft. I don't like Bell and think he'll drop after the combine because everyone catches him in all of his highlights. He's quick and shifty and I think he'll be a productive slot WR but ide…

I was shocked, but Cole Kmet led all receivers (from both teams) in receptions and yards on MNF. For the season, he now has 49 receptions (10th among TEs) for 490 yards and is on pace for over 60 receptions and 600 yards. I didn't expect him to be a top 10 TE for how bad our passing offense has been, which seems to make his stats even that much more impressive. However, on eye test, he is a great blocker, but is not an elite pass-catching TE. I feel like he needs to spend the offseason on the jugs machine and working on small area quickness. The only good thing is he is super young, still only 22, so there is still some room for improvement based on other recen…

With the Bears officially eliminated from playoff contention, the shift is fully on for 2022. With current contracts, the starting 22 looks like this: O - Fields, Monty, WR1, Mooney, WR3, Kmet, Jenkins, Whitehair, C, G, Borom Holes at WR1 (ARob), WR3 (Goodwin), C (Mustipher), and G (Daniels). D - Mack, Quinn, Goldman, Smith, Trevathan, Blackson, Johnson, Shelley/Graham, Jackson Holes at S (Gipson), CB2/3, and DL (Hicks/Nichols) I would probably create at least one more hole by cutting Goldman, but that would make the DL only have Blackson and Edwards coming back and that is probably not going to happen. Are Mustipher and Daniels "good enough…

  4. Started by AZ54,

Come off the practice squad and play well in your first NFL game under the bright spotlights of MNF alongside a makeshift secondary that has never played together and you're going to get some attention. It's too early to say he's our starter opposite Johnson next year but he might earn it in the last few games. What will be most interesting is that he'll get to see the Vikings twice which is really lucky for him. For people like me who were wondering why we didn't see him sooner, he explains that himself: He wasn't playing well enough consistently. To his credit and the Bears he stuck around and worked on his craft. I look forward to watching him the next few game…

  5. Bears have a bunch of players injured and on C19 list. Minnesota leads the league in sacks but allows the 4th most yards (only behind NYJ, HOU, and SEA), and is in the bottom 8 in pts against. Bears are at home and Cousins is 3-9 in primetime on the road (last win at Soldier Field lol). The only positive is ARob, EJack, and Goldman are not playing. Those are additions by subtractions. Hopefully, Ifedi or Wilkenson can play at RT. This team is a mess, from the top to bottom. Hard to pick them to win in these conditions. I am just hoping for a solid game from Fields with no turnovers. Vikings 31-17

  6. The Bears were trailing the Packers 17-14 a few weeks ago with refs aiding the Packers throughout the game. The Packers are 9-3 but are 2-2 in their last 4 games. In their last two their defense has been terrible, allowing 34 pts to the Vikings (who beat the Packers and lost to the Lions lol), and 28 to the Rams. The Packers are favored by 12.5, but I feel like this one will be decided by 10 or less. Rodgers has some sort of toe issue and it is going to be 33 degrees on Sunday Night. If you have ever had a toe issue, a cold cleat is probably the worst thing for it. To me if Fields plays, the Bears have a chance at an upset. If Dalton or Foles play, they l…

  7. Started by Uncle Buck,

My apologies on two fronts; first if this has already been mentioned and second because I can’t figure out how to link it but Dan Wiederer had a great article in today’s Chicago Tribune about the leadership of this team. A great, great read. I can only hope George is finally truly enlightened because there’s some pretty damning stuff there.

  8. Started by Uncle Buck,

Outside of Fields’ development, what are you looking for down the stretch here? Personally, I’m keen on seeing how the two tackles progress from here.

    Leslie Frazier?

  10. So I totally forgot about the 3rd WC slot (the same one the Bears slipped into last year). The difference this year is the 17th game. The extra game for the Bears was LVR, for the Vikings, it's the LAC. That extra game may end up being the difference in making the playoffs or not this year. At this point, if the Bears can survive to the bye, with TB, SF at home, and PIT (MNF) in the next 3, they have a much more favorable schedule down the stretch. They have to win one, but two puts their odds of making the playoffs very high. If you consider TB a loss (3-4), then SF a win (at home) - SF plays SNF against IND at home. With a loss against the Colts, they could co…

  11. Started by AZ54,

I came across this while doing some draft research. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/david-montgomery-contract-chicago-bears I've already said I'm in favor or re-signing him and keeping him around while Fields' develops. However, as in that article, there is a good argument to be made about how difficult it can be to get value out of a RB on an expensive 2nd contract. With that in mind IF your decision as GM is to... 1) Let him ride out his existing deal (play next year) and then let him go seeking a potential comp pick in exchange 2) Herbert is good enough to your starter .... should we trade Montgomery this offseason? A good RB a…

Does anyone follow, listen to or watch anything from Barstool Sports? I have seen a few things, mainly Big Cat who is a Bears fan, seems like a funny guy. Well, Pat McAfee, former Indy Punter, just signed a $30M a year deal with FanDuel leaving Barstool Sports. First off, that is more than he made in his entire NFL career (which is mind-boggling). Secondly, I can't imagine what ESPN and other networks are paying terrible QBs as analysts (Dan Orlovsky, etc). Besides McAfee, the only other personality of interest in Barstool is Big Cat. I can't imagine he is making anywhere near that much because the entire company is only valued at $200-$400M nowadays, which is …

  13. This will probably be an ugly loss for the Bears. Hicks, Edwards, Goodwin, Kmet, Robinson, and Smith all DNP on Wednesday. That is in addition to Fields battling the cracked ribs and Mack lost for the season. Murray and Hopkins were limited, but McCoy has filled in nicely for the Cards. They may be without Justin Pugh on the OL, but outside of that, they are pretty intact. I would expect the Bears to try to run the ball a lot, control the clock and keep the Cards off the field. I don't see any way the Bears can win this based on how they looked recently. Cardinals 31-17

  14. Mark Konkol - who evidently is a old school reporter is indicating Nagy will coach his final game against the Lions. Will be fired after the game regardless of outcome. I can't believe this is true and if it is the case - you just do it (short week or not)...but if true, only the Bears could botch relieving its head coach this poorly.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all ! I enjoy coming here , mostly to read the commentary of my fellow Bears fans. You bring so much to the discussion and often joy is at the center of your words and thoughts, and for that I’m grateful. I hope you enjoy the day in your own special way. Take care and be safe.

I’ve been trying to avoid starting a new topic but saw a story on Robert Quinn that got my attention. Turns out he’s had a benign brain tumor most of his life. I know someone like that and being benign doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous or disruptive. Many props to him considering how he’s playing this year and has played most of his career.

  18. Per some NFL insiders - too short of a turnaround. Dalton will start. Not surprised but still bummed. Was hoping Fields would crush Lions and make my thanksgiving extra exciting as I get delusional over prospects of next season with a real qb entering his 2nd year in the league ready to ascend!!!

  19. This is going to be an extremely interesting matchup. Baltimore has the #1 Rushing Offense in the league, but their leading rusher is Jackson. On the flip side they have the worst passing defense in the league allowing 283 yds per game. Foles or Dalton as the Scout Team QB (playing as Jackson) is really going to prepare our defense well lol. Mack hasn't played in almost a month and was still not practicing on Wednesday. Hicks was out, Jackson was out. Trevathan was out. ARob was out. I am hoping this was more of extended rest to get them closer to 100% than anything else. If the Bears can contain Mark Andrews and limit the huge chunk plays to Brown…

  20. Started by adam,

The season is over, they would have to win 6 out of 7 to only have a slim chance at the playoffs based on wins by SF and MIN. So with that, this is what needs to happen the rest of the season or before next season. Fire Pace, fire Nagy and the entire coaching staff. You have to get the stench off this team and the only way is to clean house. Allow the new GM to come in and hire his guy. On offense, draft/sign a Center and WR, don't sign ARob, don't resign Monty. On defense, shoot Vildor to the moon, draft/sign a starting CB, Safety and ILB. Don't re-sign Nichols, only bring Hicks back on a one-year deal. To end this season, I would bring up Adams to see what h…
