  1. I did not even last to hear the rest of Angelo's spin on the s*^t coming out of the auditorium at Halas Hall today. Phillips proved once again that he is not a football mind and is completely satisfied with the status quo and sold Virginia and Mikey on it as well. Phillips talked about consistency, consistency failing to make this franchise a better team is not acceptable. If the team has the financial resources to eat the two moron contracts that would come with firing Angelo and Smith that should have been done. Phillips also talked about accountability and that management listens to the fans is totally BS. If they were listening to the fans Angelo and Smith would have been fired yesterday and the search for a new coach would be happening. I wish I had Warren Buffet's or Bill Gates' money so that I could have some how gone in and bought this team and started the process of cleaning house. Lackeys serving in subordinate positions only goes to prove one thing, the McCaskey Family does not get it and it is highly doubtful that the McCaskey family will ever get it. Looks like we are in for another repeat of the 2009 season in 2010, which was a repeat of the 2008 season which of course was a repeat of the 2007 season. Smith's system is flawed and bringing in other so called coaches who Smith has the final say on hiring only guarantees another year of mediocrity for this once proud franchise. Until there seems to be someone with a brain running this team for the McCaskeys, we the Bears Nation will have to get used to the status quo year in and year out.
  2. ConnorBear, I agree that Cowher is not the end all answer however, I do like his style and his no-nonsense old school ways. There have been many disappointments with this so called Cover-2 defense and I think we need someone who sees how to maybe get us back to the old grind it out attitude with some hard hitting "46" smash mouth thrown in for good measure. I just think that it will be better than what we have and unless we bring back one of our former players who is having success somewhere else, I think Cowher is a good choice at this point.
  3. It is sad when Angelo stated that the money issue would not be an issue and what has happened so far clearly indicates that money is definitely and issue. Turner definitely needed to get the hell out of town and he is not the only one. Unfortunately Papa Bear continues to spin out of control in his grave with the way his daughter is running his team. Major changes needed to be made and I am interested to hear the B.S. that will be spewed at 2:00 pm at the Bears press conference. No matter what is said, what the McCaskey is failing this team, this City and the football World in their acceptance of mediocrity. The only bright side is that after the fourth consecutive failure under Smith is that it appears that Cowher will still be available to take over this team come January 2011 which is roughly twelve months later than it should be. With Cowher the Bears would be showing everyone that they do mean business and will do what ever they are able to in order to become respectable once again. I'll go out on a limb and say that at this point the best we are able to expect is probably a record of maybe 7-9 and possibly even worse. This is another Red Letter Day in mediocrity by the McCaskey family and their hand picked lackeys for this franchise. Sad day in Chitown and Suburbia.
  4. I have not seen nor heard any unbiased commentators in regards to any Chicago sports teams in god only knows how long. There seems to be a real hatred for Chicago by all of the media outlets and last night only proved it once again. Their entire focus was on the ViQueens and what they needed to do versus that this was another key divisional game against hated rivals in another season. There is always to much East Coast bias and brain washing by the East Coast media. I liked Jaws as a player however, he rambles on and on about basically nothing and Gruden who may have had a little better insight was hampered in any attempt to provide legitimate insight on the game. Tirico additionally does not have the balls to tell Jaws to just shut the hell up once in a while nor the director of the broadcast. Until the National Media drops their pathetic biases, we will be stuck with inferior commentary by the networks.
  5. I can't agree with ConnorBear any more than what he stated. This whole season should be used to determine the future of this team. One game does not make a difference and excuses that have plagued this team for the entire season if not the last two for sure and probably to a degree the last three including the 2009 season. Angelo's job should also be considered for his poor evaluation of talent and character. Huge changes need to be made come Monday January 4th and the status quo will not be allowed to be the norm.
  6. Not sure how to explain the miracle that happened last night. I truly expected the ViQueens to come in and kick our asses last night especially with how poorly we have played on National TV this season and in the past. I do not know if the ViQueens were overconfident in the matchup and expected Da' Bears to just roll over. I do not know if the coaches realize that they had to do something different to create a better result or what truthfully happened. It just goes to show that any team is able to win on "Any Given Sunday." To me it just goes to show how inept that this entire coaching staff has become and why the McCaskey family needs to make a dramatic change. We'll have to wait and see what happens come next Monday the 4th. Ideally it would be awesome to see Angelo and Smith shown the door and ideally somehow getting Cowler in house to lead this proud franchise back to respectability.
  7. I agree that we may have a number 1 receiver in Aroshomadou however, it may be better to bring in an established number 1 like Marshall and help Aroshomadou develop more at number 2. If not Marshall or Vincent, let Cutler and Aroshomadou develop even more together, Bennett needs to show more of what worked well with Cutler at Vandy and see how the new coaching staff wants to use Knox and maybe still keep Hester as a number 4. I truly have never thought of Hester as a legitimate #1 and agree that he either goes back to returns and situational receiving or trade him for someone who may be able to better help this team at this point via the draft or FA for any of the other glaring holes on this team that need to be addressed.
  8. Here is a request from Uncle Meatball of BearFansUnited.org in regards the game against the ViQueens via this link to the website: http://bit.ly/5Z9JHv Basically what he is asking that all fans attending the game to wait until after the initial kick-off to the game before taking your seats. If I was in town and attending the game, I would be very interested in hanging out with my fellow fans to help make a statement to the McCaskey family and the upper management of this team. It does not cost anyone anything and does not truly make you miss the game, just the opening kick-off. I hope all that go will wait until after the kick before heading to their seats.
  9. Happy Holidays to all the members of TalkBears.com and to all of your families as well. Also Happy Holidays to all of our military personnel who are away from their families and those with their families and the military families as well. May you all be back together with one another very soon and completely safe and sound and thank you all very much for everything that you do for our Nation!!!!!
  10. Here is something that Vaugh McClure just put up on the Tribune website about regretting not doing more to prevent the collapse of this season: Lance Briggs pointed the finger at one person to blame for the Bears' 5-9 collapse the season: himself. "If I was a better leader, maybe we win more games, period," the linebacker and defensive co-captain said during a community visit Tuesday. "Who wouldn't take it personally? I'm not a leader by default. I'm a leader because I've earned the right to be a leader. So a lot of that burden does fall on my shoulders." The Bears have little chance to atone, with just two games remaining in the season. But Briggs, who leads the team with 127 tackles, vowed the Bears would finish strong against the Vikings and Lions." There is a video on the website that goes along with this article. My thought is that if Briggs really wanted to be a true leader, he would have been working his a$$ off when Urlacher went down to help keep this team focused and provide true leadership. Briggs play may show leadership however, when you do not hold your teammates accountable to each other total chaos takes place and it seems that this team is just going through the motions. Makes me think that the contract that Briggs signed for his extension was not worth the money or effort the team put into it. I have been dissatisfied with Briggs since his comments about never playing in Chicago again and then changing his mind and signing the extension that was presented. Briggs is all about saving face for a joke of a season which is not about being part of the team, it is all about Briggs and only Briggs.
  11. Bravo Pixote, Bravo!!!!! I hope that you have a new job quickly after the first of the year my friend. Do your best to enjoy the holidays and look at the future with your head held high. Sending you positive thoughts, wishes and vibes my friend for an even better 2010.
  12. Sorry my friend I do not. I read their website and feel pretty confident that they are legit. The guy leading the way is active military and a high ranking officer I believe. It is not likely that he would do anything to jeopardize his military career.
  13. I am pretty sure that I would be able to do a far better job at evaluating player talent and the person directly. I know that there is limited time at the Scouting Combine every year however, one should be able to see the results from all the testing and in a personal interview a GM should be able to come away with a clear idea of how much heart a player has for the game and the talent that is getting that player to the next level. There also has to be a reality of what type of free agents that are out there and are available. Do you take someone who is injury prone and well past their prime (Pace) or do you look for a younger guy who shows heart and determination. Give me someone that has the heart like Rudy Ruettiger did at Notre Dame and I'll give them every opportunity to show what they may have. Enough trading away pics for suspect talent or just because you do not think someone is worthy in the first round to select and you trade down. Find scouts who know how to find players who really care about the game and will give it their all 100% of the time and not a half ass effort every day. Eliminate the Prima Donas and the contracts that go with those types of so called players. I personally still want to see incentive contracts that makes a player earn the higher end salaries and not given carte blanch based on projections. Find scouts who understand the philosophy of having heart and respecting the game they play and what it means to be a team. Then you have to find the right coach who knows truthfully what the hell they are doing and will not get to far away from the overall goal that starts each season, which is winning a Super Bowl. The NFC North division is supposed to be the "Black & Blue" division or as Chris Berman usually states the "Norris" division, then start acting like that is the case. Anyone is able to screw up once in a while however, in the case of Angelo it has been far too often without being accountable for the bad decisions he has made.
  14. Don't forget that the 81% + is for just the initial ad to go into the Trib or Sun-Times, which will run about $3,000 roughly. The true goal is to get well close to about $7,500 so that they are able to put an ad in the papers and do a billboard somewhere that the McCaskey family will see it regularly until after the season and we all wait to see what happens. We all need to do our best in regards to helping donate to this group at their website.
  15. Sounds good to me and I would even double it so that we would be able to get rid of Angelo as well.
  16. If Angelo has any brains at all and realizes that he has failed in his decision making on player personnel, then he should resign right now and make it easier for the McCaskey's to move forward without such a problematic evaluator. Angelo leaves, Smith in turn gets fired and you bring in Cowher to take over would be the most excellent way to show this City and the fans that back this team that the McCaskeys are finally listening to the people that help to make them money.
  17. That is why Angelo and Smith need to go right there Fudgeripple2000.
  18. I just put in $20 myself and actually complimented the guys who created and are working this issue on the sight you provided ConnorBear.
  19. I am watching this so called football game and was just wondering what everyone thinks that Lovie's thoughts will be this week for the inept effort for the apparent loss to Baltimore? Will he blame that fact of the difficult travel in getting to Baltimore or will he just say that he did not prepare he's team once again for the game? At some point someone in this organization needs to be held accountable and it does not seem that any one will ever be accountable for how pathetic that this team has become.
  20. Worse part is that John Mullin of CSN Chicago is already reporting that the Bears will have Losie Smith back next year as head coach because of the fact of the money still owed and the potential lock-out. As the saying goes, S^*t flows down hill and it starts at the top with the daughter. She is getting to old to know any better and her children have no clue as well. Why they insist to have a C.P.A. run this team is still beyond me. Then you have a half intelligent person as your G.M. who has far too many bad decisions in player personnel decisions for everyone decision that he may get right. Don't even get me started on this coaching staff and how pathetic it has become and if you saw the post with the interview by the sports talk host in Indianapolis, the players do not care and have no heart and do not control each other. The World of today's modern athlete has gotten to the point of prima donas and not real hard working athletes. The whole organization needs to changed and as Dan McNeil of the Trib stated, this team needs complete make over in the Wirtz way and now rather than later. I will always support this team however, it is getting more and more difficult to be a fan with the way the organization continues to go.
  21. Billick to me is a catastrophe waiting to happen. I think that Billick got really lucky in Baltimore and does not need to be back in the NFL. Just like Shannahan, I would not want Billick to lead this team. Cowler would be the ultimate choice to take over this team and Gruden I think has been away from the day to day of football and if you bring in someone to be the GM, I would want Gruden. Plus you would have to seriously start looking more at Leslie Fraizer at this point as well. Minnesota's "D" continues to do pretty decently and even bringing back Rivera who is helping San Diego on their current big winning streak. Billick is to much of a retread and we need to look else where.
  22. Smith should have been fired last season especially after the debacle in Minnesota. Let's just hope that the McCaskey family decides that this team is not going in the direction it needs and figures out that they need a true talent evaluator and not some moron who did not do that well in Tampa Bay. Plus as much as I liked his hiring initially, Smith is another coordinator who does not have what it takes to be an awesome head coach. The "Cover 2" is now a pre-historic defensive scheme and it is time to bring in someone who will return this team to what we all know and love, go old smash mouth football and destructive defenses.
  23. I have been saying to everyone that I know and those I know who are Bronco fans that not all of the pics are Cutler's fault. Cutler's mechanics have taken a dramatic turn for the worse with Pep Hamilton and Ron Turner as his coaches. We need to have a coach who knows truthfully what the hell to do and not just allow for a QB to continue to forget what got him to the show in the first place.
  24. It is an understatement at how horrible a coach that Abe Gibron was from a coaching stand point however, from the little I remember, it seems that we have returned to that era in Bears football. The only positive thing back then is that Papa Bear was still around and finally decided to make a change. Unfortunately we do not have that luxury and can only hope that something gets changed this off season. My first game at Solider Field (Not the UFO) was a game against the Baltimore Colts with Bert Jones as their quarterback and Bert torched the Bears like 42-6 or something really sad. Fortunately while at yesterday's game it was not that awful however, it was still pretty pathetic the way this team got flagged for sh*t that they should not have gotten flagged for and that the Hated Ones got away with far too much sh*t that they should have been flagged for. Either way though this team does suck and it starts at the top with the idiot in charge who is supposed to be a decent talent evaluator. Dream on Angelo and it is time for you to be shown the door and do not let it hit your arse on the way out.
  25. When Smith was first brought in I thought he deserved an opportunity to be a head coach. The Super Bowl season was nice however, left things a bit short of what we demand from our teams. Since then both Smith and Angelo have continued to fail this team and City. Angelo with his inability to properly evaluate talent to put on the field and Smith for his lack of ability to keep his team focus and motivated for the game. Plus the fact that Smith has readily admitted that there have been a couple of games in which the team was not properly prepared by the coaches. It starts at the top of the hill and quickly rolls down hill. This article by Dan McNeil of the Trib sums things up on how I agree that this team should move forward from here. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...,6671947.column
