It definitely is an interesting perdiction and if Forte does meet these projections, then we definitely will have a pretty decent running game for the first time in a while. I like what Forte has to bring to the table and hope that the "O" line is able to provide enough in the gaps for Matt to go through and from there who knows what will happen. Just wish we had a respectable signal caller to go along with this running back and don't forget we still need a quality deep threat as well. Overall though these numbers would be very respectable.

Hey Everyone, My friend back in Southern California has secured through the Chicago Essex Inn a fantastic package to see Da' Bears take on Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a Sunday night game and will definitely sell out. The package is as follows: Three Nights Accommodations @ The Chicago Essex Inn 200 Level Seat Guaranteed Special Commemorative Gift From The Essex Inn The Chance To See A Must Win Game At The Start Of The Season In Person This all inclusive package is $500 per person based on double occupancy. The Essex is sold out for this package and similar packages with the Essex are now going for $1,200 per person based on double occupancy. For those of you who live in the Metro, I understand that this may not be all that great however, it still will be a ticket that unless you get lucky the day tickets go on sale, it is cheaper than going through a ticket service plus then securing your own hotel accommodations. Tickets on Stub Hub are currently going for roughly $250 per ticket for seats this good, so you are able to see and determine your savings already. If you are interested in this package, please email me @ rtavill@gmail.com as soon as possible and I will advise you on how to secure your space. We have a total of 13 spaces still available and they are on a first come first serve basis.

It was bad enough when Mad Mac was in the hated land and Mongo said it was one of the most painful experiences that he ever put himself through. As much as I may admire what Bret did as a player, there is just no way in hell that there could be any justification to have Favre wearing a Bears uniform.

This is something that I have noticed when they gave Briggs that big ass extention to keep him here in Chicago. I am not sure I still want Briggs and Urlacher has meant far more to this franchise since his arrival. I understand their concerns in regards to Brian's back issues, I personally think that Brian will be back with a vengence and will be doing anything and everything to prove his continued nay-sayers wrong once again. If JA and TP are that concerned about Brian's health, put incentives into the contract that I am sure that Brian will blow out of the water.
-
That is part of the problem NFOLIGNO with the defense and the whole team overall. I think that Mike Brown definitely brings intangibles that others do not to the field.
-
I agree with you all. May everyone have a safe, healthy and funfilled Fourth today. Thanks as well to the men and women of the Armed Forces. Thank you for doing what you do for all of us here back home and may you all return to your homes and families safe and sound.

I have loved Mike Brown for a long time and feel bad with all the injuries that he has suffered through lately. I am hoping that Mike is able to stay healthy this year because without a doubt he brings far too many intangibles to the defense that no one else has shown as of yet. If Mike unfortunately goes down once again, we definitely need someone to step up further in the defensive backfield and hopefully provide a similar spark to this team.

Hey Connor, I beg to differ on your thought process with Urlacher. I think Brian has handled the pressure very well since he was instantly placed under a microscope when he was drafted and the media is able to be a pain in the ass in their ever probing ways. To have been under this much scrutiny since arriving Brian has done well. I think that if both have incredible seasons this year, then both will be appointed the faces of the franchise. Brian may do his best to blend back into the back round however, having been such a key figure of this team for so long, Brian will not be able to fade to far from the limelight.

From the Trib article today on the signing of Harrison. Here is the link to the story: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,4364136.story

No worries according to the Trib this morning as it appears that both Williams and Forte will be signed with in the week. Another good job (one of a few) that JA is getting done. Here is to training camp opening in three weeks!!!!!!!!!
-
It also appears that Chris Williams is getting closer to being signed as well. It will be another year that we will have signed all of our draft picks well before Training Camp opens which is a very good thing. Forte and Williams to be signed apparently within the next week or so and we are three weeks from Training Camp, Woo!!!! Hoo!!!!!

Goodell thinks the rookies are getting paid too much
chitownman replied to jason's topic in Bearstalk
I am glad to see that the Commish is definitely thinking this way. I have never understood how a rookie is able to obtain insane money without taking a snap in the the league. A rookie salary cap and ideally a contract with incentives is a very good thing. If you think that highly of a draftee, then you need to have him prove it on the field and may choose to reward him accordingly. Providing more money to be available for the veterans is also a good thing as well, as they have already been in the league proving their worth. Kudos Mr. Goodell for taking this type of stand. -
I am glad that this got done as we all have expressed our desire for Tommie remaining at Halas Hall. Now as others have mentioned, we need to create a nice deal to keep Hester here and happy and then we need to work something out with Brian to make him happier once again. I do like the fact that Brian continues to show up for mini-camps and OTAs, as this should only help his negotiating power with Ted Philips and company. Not sure who else is left that is a must sign however, very happy with locking Tommie in.

It appears that one of our greatest running backs is speaking out against our latest running back bust and is reiterating that the players of today only care about the bank and not about the team nor the game itself. One of these days I hope that this trend gets turned around. Too many Is and MEs on this team and others versus Us and WEs. Having a brother who is a lawyer and now a judge, he advised me a long time ago that if you have been drinking, take a urine test and if you have not been drinking, take a blood test. With the breath test, even taking cough syrup (Vicks 44, Robitussin, etc) can easily have you test at above the legal limit for alcohol after taking it. The breath test is the very worst field test available for possible DUI. With that being said, Ced continues to make too many bad decisions and his lack of heart and desire on the field has proven far to easily that it is time for him to move on. I personally do not see Ced getting on anywhere else and it looks like we had another Curtis Ennis and Rashan Salaam on our hands. Hope that Matt Forte is better than what we have been dealing with lately.
-
I like everyone else thought this was a good choice when Benson was drafted and waited to see how things played out. Three years later, Ced starts getting into trouble of some sort with the local authorities where he is. If anyone of us did this within the aspects of our jobs, we would be fired at the first mishap and not given a second chance. Ced made another poor decision with what ever he was doing and is now being let go for this error in judgment. From a players point, Ced definitely has not lived up to his billing coming out of college and I believe one of the downsides to his evaluation by the so called experts is that he did not have the heart for what he needed to do at the next level. It seems that he, like so many others, does not realize that it is a privilege and an honor to be a professional athlete. People will say that he was injured however, the true superstars figure out a way to be on the field every day and do their best to be upstanding citizens both on and off the field. I know this was the right move however, it continues to prove for every talent Jerry Angelo finds, there are far many more errors that set this team back further and further. How much longer will Ted Philips and Virginia allow this seemingly incompetent individual run this team? We need to make another serious change to right this ship once again.
-
Which ever way you go on this, count me in here as well.
-
If there is still a spot, I definitely want in on it as well. Just let me know when we are to sign up.
-
I agree with your thinking Wesson44 and concur with MadLithuanian on his accessment of the brain trust entrusted to screw up (I mean run) this team. We'll get an idea of how it plays out starting July 23rd.

Specifics on the dollar amount still on his contract I am not sure of and at the time that he signed it, it was major money at the time. Remember that they just gave Briggs one helluva deal that has more money than what Brian is earning. Brian was anointed the Franchise Player when they signed him and let him do his thing. Gave Briggs unGodly money and thought that it was not going to effect #54. That is a huge mistake on JA's and Ted's part. Now they have a bit of an unhappy franchise player from the moves that they made. I hope that they decide to do something to show more love to Brian and fast. I would not have a problem with Brian making a statement by skipping mini-camp, just make sure he is there when Training Camp opens.

It is a great thing for Robbie that is for sure. Imagine the fact that prior to signing with the Bears, he had been cut a couple of times and if I am not mistaking was working a regular 8-5 job when the Bears came calling. In the short amount of time he has been with the club, Robbie definitely has earned his money and now is being paid the money. It is a great thing for sure.

Except that he is a Ron Turner Lackey.

This is what I would like to see as our depth chart going into the game at Indy: WR LT LG C RG RT TE WR Bradley Williams Beekman Kreutz Garza Tait Olsen Lloyd QB Orton FB McKie RB Forte LE LT RT RE Ogunleye Harris Dvoracek Brown WIL MID SAM Briggs Urlacher Hillenmeyer LCB FS SS RCB Tillman Brown Vasher McGowan P Maynard K Gould RTN Hester I may not have the position order correct however, this is what I think if everyone is healthy will give us the best chance of having a descent season. I give the nod to Orton over Grossman because I think Orton is better at managing the game. Forte I think will clearly beat out Benson and WRs could go many ways. On defense, we can only hope that Mike Brown stays healthy for the first time in four years for an entire season. If that happens, then we'll see an improvement on defense. The hard part is getting more playing time for McBride. We'll start to see what happens for sure in about eleven weeks when training camp starts.

At this point with the mess that is the QB position, I think I would rather go with the former Big 10 player versus the former SEC player. All I know for sure is that our QBs still suck and will continue to suck until JA and Lovie get the heads out of their asses and realize that neither of these QBs that we have are really worth a damn. They may have potential, and one may have more than the other however, at this point and time they both still suck. Open competition is a good thing for going into the regular season at Indy however, we need a real QB to lead us in the future and until we are fortunate enough to have one, we all will have to suffer with the mess that is Da' Bears QB at this point and time.

I would be a bit hesitant with signing Rhodes at this point and time. There was something that has not been revealed that made Oakland drop him and get McFadden. Additionally the Raiders also have Justin Fargas as well which makes me wonder what Oakland was thinking as they had signed Rhodes as a FA. Something smells fishy here and I would be leary of it.
