  1. Hey Gang, With the retirement supposedly of Brett Favre once again from the Jets, speculation is that Mark Sanchez is going to fall all the way down to the 17th pick which the Jets currently own. I know that we need a lot of help on both sides of the ball however, would it be in our best interest if Sanchez is falling that far down that some how Angelo gets his head out of his ass and moves up one or two spots to grab Sanchez. It would be nice to obtain a great receiver however, if we are not able to get the ball to him down field, what the hell good is the receiver to us? It just seems that as the draft goes on and Sanchez has not moved, that the Bears talk with the teams at 15 & 16 and see if there is a deal that could be made and we get a kid who appears to have great pro potential even if Pete Carroll feels that Sanchez is leaving college to soon.
  2. The other thing is that he is going to be besides the DL coach is that he gets the title of Assistant Head Coach as well. Makes me nervous either way especially with his son-in-law probably coming in as well. May have to have faith in the adage that he may not be a great head coach however, may be just what this team needs and ideally let's get rid of Babich.
  3. Check it out gang, a grass-roots effort to get Da' Coach to become the new governor of our beloved State and home State of Illinois. Check out www.dagovernor.com and help the campaign get going and put respect back into Illinois politics.
  4. I'll through one more team into the mix, my beloved Chicago Cubs!!!!!!
  5. In this game it became clearly obvious that Lovie Smith has lost this team. Ron Turner ran four consecutive plays up the gut for no gain when the Bears clearly should have gone up 14-3 in the second quarter. The next play run by the Vikings goes quickly for a 99 yard TD reception to Berrian of all people is pretty sad. Shows that the defense was not completely thinking about all the scenarios that were possibly coming at them. Then if you look at the sidelines as NBC showed them, the entire team seemed to have their heads down and had this "We Are Defeated" look all about them. To me, this just goes to show how far this team has slipped since the debacle in Miami for Super Bowl XLI. The defense keeps talking about lack of execution during games and to me that falls both on the coaches for lack of work somewhere in practice and to the players for not caring enough to get the job done. I will not take injuries for an excuse because that is all that they are excuses. I would also want to see Jerry Angelo get canned as well as he has made to many errors in judgment of so called talent then he has made significant contributions to the talent of the team. I am not sure who to get to take over this team however, at this point and time, this team does not deserve to win another game with the way they are playing and it does not appear that they believe in Smith's system nor any of his assistants and there needs to be a huge change for 2009.
  6. Damn, Kyyle and I agree on something again!!!!!!!! The hell with Marinelli and another one of Lovie's cronnies!!!!!
  7. Definitely Matt Forte, Robbie Gould, Lance Briggs (better citizen this year as well) Greg Olson (surprisingly coming around), Craig Steltz and beyond that I am not even sure. They also need to give up on having Hester as a wide-out. It is definitely affecting his play as our return specialist. Far too many mistakes all day and how in the hell you do not get up for the biggest rivalry game of the season year in and year out is beyond me. As the saying always goes, I Root For Two Teams In The NFL, Da' Bears & Who Ever The Hell Is Playing That God Forsaken Team of Cheeseheads!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Besides the coaching staff, I also blame a lot of this on Jerry Angelo as well. He has made some good decisions however, JA's bad decisions far outweigh his good ones. Smith has lost what ever he had upon arriving in Chicago, Babich is just a yes man who does not deserve to be a coordinator and Turner as well lost what ever he once had prior to the time he spent down in Champaign. Hell even Taub is losing something on the special teams which usually is a bright spot for this team. In regards to coaches that should take over next year; Ron Rivera, Mike Singletary (figuring San Fran does not want him), Leslie Frazier, Bill Cowher or some offensive minded coach who understands the complete game and will bring in someone worth a damn to put this defense back on tract. We also need a new GM who is a specialist in regards to the cap and will work better with Ted Philips and the McCaskey family. Either way as it was mentioned at the beginning of the broadcast that Tommie Harris said he did not want to see this season slip away, really did slip away at this point. I do not see to many more wins this season and having to play Minnesota in Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Green Bay again just does not seem favorable. Next week in St. Louis is definitely not a given and New Orleans will not hesitate to allow Drew Brees to open things up and Houston is well, just Houston without Schaub. Heads need to roll at the end of 2008 and hope that there will be something better for 2009 because there is just no way that Da Bears will make the playoffs this year and unless significant changes are made, don't even think about making the play-offs again any time soon.
  9. I just hope that the tradition continues since Lovie took over as head coach. Either way the Bears need to completely dominate this game and win handily. I just hope that the defense does not fall asleep in the 4th quarter. As I see it with Kyle at QB we should win I am hoping 33-20 and if Flexy starts then I just hope that he does not make too many mistakes and that we some how win the game 27-24.
  10. If it turns out to only be a high ankle sprain then we got lucky. Watching that replay as often as Fox was showing it, I am surprised that it is not broken. Glad that I wore my Cut Grossman t-shirt under my Payton jersey. Took of the jersey and everyone laughed and asked about how to obtain the t-shirt.
  11. The defensive struggles I blame on two people within this organization and two people only. Lovie Smith and Bob Babich. The Trib had in an article a short time ago something about fourth quarter leads blown by the defense. At the time of the article being written, the last six games in which the Bears had a fourth quarter lead with Bob Babich as defensive coordinator, the Bears have blown five of those leads and lost the game. Ron Rivera as defensive coordinator, the Bears had roughly twenty-five (25) fourth quarter leads and lost only one (1) game. If that is not complete writing on the wall about how this defense has fallen quite a bit, I do not know what is. Blowing a lead almost completely to Minnesota who is not that strong, is totally unacceptable. Fortunately because Minnesota is so inept at this point, they defeated themselves. Something must be changed and changed soon. If not, Ted Phillips and Jerry Angelo better decide the fate of Lovie Smith and his staff pretty damn quickly. This team has always been known for its strong defense and right now it is not what it is supposed to be. I will not accept injuries to players as a reason. To me that is an excuse and it is not acceptable. The guys are all being played to play a kids game and anyone should be able to step up and fill in accordingly when a teammate goes down.
  12. Let Samurai get his feet a little wet up there in San Francisco and then it will be time to bring him home where he rightfully belongs. It is hard to root for the 49ers however, will definitely become a fan and only and always hope for the best for Singletary. Sort of like for me rooting for the Lakers. Hate the Lakers however, always want Phil Jackson to do well and win more World Championships.
  13. The only time that the FB/RB dive played ever worked is when "Sweetness" was in the backfield doing it. Walter had just such a natural ability to get the job done by going over the top. After running it up the gut on 3rd down, Turner should have known on 4th & 1 that the box would have been stacked and as others have said, play action fake with either the QB keeping it and running around and in or a quick flip to a receiver or TE would have secured six for us. There are some good calls by Ron Turner however, there are more and more bad calls by Turner as well. Then there is the problem of Babich and Lovie being completely devoted to the Cover 2. As it was stated earlier in this thread, we got picked apart all day with slants by a rookie that we made look like an All-Pro. The Cover 2 has too many weaknesses that are being more and more exploited and with Rivera, there seemed to be a little bit of the "46" coming back into play. It was stated in the Trib a couple of weeks ago that with Babich as the DC, the Bears have lost I believe it is now 7 of the last 9 that the Bears have lead in the 4th quarter and with Rivera as the DC, the Bears only lost once in 25 times that the Bears had the lead i the 4th quarter. Makes a person think.
  14. You who are blaming the clock guy or Hamilton as the ones who failed the Bears, look at the whole game and what was happening. The Cover 2 defense is venerable to the short pass and Ryan nickel and dimed us the entire day and exposed the Cover 2 for its weaknesses as the NFL World knows it. The interesting fact is that with Babich as defensive coordinator, the Bears have lost I believe seven of the last nine games in which the Bears lead in the fourth quarter. I know that we did not lead until the last eleven seconds of the game however, going into a prevent with the Cover 2 with as poorly as the defense was playing shows how susceptible the Cover 2 defense is. With Ron Rivera as the defensive coordinator the Bears lost only one game in 25 leading in the fourth quarter. Plus the fact that people wanted McBride or Vasher or Tillman in there, the three of them were suffering from injuries. Coaching lost this game and nothing else and to blame anyone except the coaches for their lack of management of the game are fools. Even Tom Jackson on ESPN with Chris Berman in their Two Minute Blitz noted that the coaches mismanaged the final 11 seconds and noted some other areas that the coaching staff failed as well.
  15. Let's take this all the way to the top. You start with blaming Ted Phillips who is running this team now for the McCaskey family. Phillips has some sort of faith in Jerry Angelo and allows Angelo to continue to make some bad decisions and have no repercussions from those bad decisions. Angelo is not all that he is cracked up to be and is a mediocre talent evaluator at best. Lovie Smith for not having the balls to be a real man any longer and finding people who will work with him and provide him things to think about in order to be productive. Ron Turner for seemingly having a good game plan going into Indy who was hurt and failing to continue to execute this week in Carolina. Orton for the fact that he is not reading well after one decent week and help to loose this game. Olsen for not fully protecting the ball when being tackled as well. The Special Teams and Defense did just about anything and everything within their power to win this game however, the defense being left on the field too long and having a short field to protect is not a good thing against an offense that is decent as well. Plus you have to consider that Moose and Chris Harris were on the opposite sidelines and it was mentioned that it seemed that Carolina was picking up the audibles that Orton was calling. It is a sad day today in Bears football. Next two game are at least at home however, not easy games either with Tampa Bay and Philadelphia coming into town.
  16. Navy on Navy might be cool to see for home games, White on Navy for roadies for me and get rid of the Orange, it just does not seem to do much for me expect make me think of Halloween. Just does not feel right for the Orange jerseys to me.
  17. Sorry Man, I just noticed the pole myself today. I would prefer to see the picks as they are made. I kept going back and kept thinking I did not pick however, did my best to remember that I did.
  18. It was a good win last night and it was great to see a running back that was as impressive in his debut last night as Matt Forte was. It is nice to see that it appears that we have a true running back once again for the first time since Thomas Jones was sent to the Jets. I just hope that it continues. Overall last night's game was a great effort all the way around. Makes my trip for the Philly game that much more to look forward to!!!!!!!!
  19. DBDB, you have to make sure that you do have an offer and enough leverage to do what you are saying. Either way, if you are just bluffing the current employer will basically call it and walk you out the door. If you have the new job, then you move on to the new company. Either way if you violate the terms of the contract, there are and will be legal reprocussions from making these type of decisions.
  20. Jason, re-read the comment that I made. I said nothing about cutting Devin. Just pointed out that if you or I attempted this with an employer, we would be shown the door.
  21. Damn glad that Williams signed on the dotted line and hope that he made it to camp before practice started!!!!!!!!! This is definitely a huge signing that needed to be completed. Mad Lithuanian, major congrats on your marriage. Hope that you had a great time last Saturday celebrating. I got married on a yacht down in Newport Beach and hope you had something just as much fun!!!!!!!!
  22. That is one of the biggest problems with the way contracts are written in professional sports. There are no incentives and performance evaluations with merit raises that are earned by the best performers of the company. I agree that Devin deserves more money for what he has done so far however, holding out it not the answer. Being a good employee, doing your work and continuing to excel and making yourself indispensable to the organization will say a lot more to the people that matter versus striking for more. I think that this is a bad move and someone who Devin respects from the team needs to get a hold of him and set his head straight. Get your butt to camp, continue to perform and make it so that the organization has no other choice except to give you the raise you feel you are entitled to. If you or I pulled this type of action, we would definitely be told to "Not Let The Door Hit You On The Ass As You Leave."
  23. Remember that all draft picks have a set cap prior to the main salary cap being announced. I am glad that this got done and hopefully Brian will get back to what he does best and lead the way on defense. Now all we need is to get Williams signed and into camp before the first practice on Wednesday.
  24. If things go well for Kevin coming back from the ACL injury, we should do quite well in the running game if the "O" Line does better than last year. Now all we need is to get Williams signed and figure out something of the mess at QB for the season. Not sure what is left out there however, running has just been improved a little bit.
  25. Have not heard anything new that I am aware of. I just remember that last week prior to getting Forte into the fold that they were speculating that Williams would be signed shortly afterwards. I just hope that JA gets in done in less than thirteen days as it would be a sad state of affairs if our latest #1 pick in not in camp when it opens. Too much riding on this kid's shoulders not to have him in camp from day one.
