  1. The table is set. The Bears are hungry. If we wind up with the #1 pick in the first round, Poles will have a chance to make the 3rd best draft day trade in NFL history. (The Herschel Walker & Ricky Williams trades were totally insane.) IT WILL BE HUGE! I believe that the salary cap, although obviously important, cannot be the deciding factor in this decision. Every team has to deal with salary cap issues involving their blue chip players, especially their QBs. The good teams know how to manage the cap to keep their teams core together. With the draft picks we could have entering this draft, and the money we have to spend in free agency, we can be set for a deep playoff run in 2024.

Thanks, That was an outstanding article. I personally think that unless Fields' play in the last 4 games makes it clear which option for our future is best, that it will be a decision Poles will make once he gets offers for the #1 pick, as well as offers for a Fields' trade. He will carefully compare the options he has. At that point, I think he will pull the trigger on a move to give the Bears' the best chance to improve and become a force in the NFL instead of a running joke.
  3. We have to give him a clean pocket to throw from if we want him to be a pocket passer. Simple enough. LOL. We are failing at doing just that. Way too much pressure on him today. If I remember correctly, and correct me if my memory sucks, but the last time we played Cleveland Fields got mauled and had a horrific game. Lets hope we can afford him better protection this time.
  4. This is reminding me too much of the last game with Detroit.
  5. Yep, I just saw an unqualified positive comment. That is all I wanted to see. I do not mind anyone commenting negatively about the play of any player, as long as they also acknowledge when that same player does good. That is my only beef. All is good. No Problem!
  6. Every comment you make about Fields is negative, or occasionally a positive but with a qualifier. I get the point. You don't like Fields. ?
  7. Our OL sucks! Fields has no chance to go through his progressions.

I agree 100%. I've watched him against several of the top ranked teams, including my Notre Dame team (who also has a habit of losing to top ranked teams, damn it). He seems to choke against high level competition. I will be curious what he does against #16 ranked Louisville on 12/27.
  9. Yes, I think with our defense, if Fields can contribute that to the offense along with our running game, we win.

I was just watching a video on YouTube with a guy named Ryan Wilson showed his latest mock. He has New England trading the Bears for the #1 overall pick. The Bears would get their #1, #2, & #4 in 2004 along with a #3 in 2005. New England would draft Caleb Williams #1 overall. With the Bears' first pick (#2 overall) we would select Marvin Harrison Jr. Just curious what you guys would think about this mock. Would you make the deal?

I'm not that impressed with either of the two, Williams or Maye. Neither one, in the games I watched, showed they were solid against the top ranked teams. They both have IMO way too many question marks to risk a #1 pick on. There are some very good prospects at QB that will also be first round selections, but we could easily select one of them with the Bears' #1 in the top 10 and use the #1 from Carolina to harvest a monster deal that could set the Bears up for an awesome future.

Don't you dare leave. We need you here. We need PHX here. We need you both to continue to contribute. I know the two of you are having a rough time getting along with each other but I trust eventually it work itself out. You're both very loyal Bear fans with differing opinions. It's good that we can share different thoughts on the Bears. No one needs to prove themselves to be correct in their analysis. We just need to kick back and enjoy seeing the Bears play.
  13. If they had Claypool they would have won both games. LOL NOT
  14. Thank You New England! I cant believe Pittsburg lost to both the Cardinals and Steelers. WOW!

I posted some time ago that a buddy of mine, who is college football addict, swears Penix is the best QB coming out for the 2024 draft. Loved the highlight film. I bet he got a lot of razz about his last name when he was a teenager in school.!? For some weird reason it brought to mind the late Johnny Cash song "A Boy Named Sue." LOL

Carolina & Tampa Bay. What a game. B. Young (2023 #1 Pick) 15-21 178 yds 0 TDs 1 INT Vs. B. Mayfield (2018 #1 Pick) 14-29 202 yds 1 TD 1 INT Thanks. Tampa Bay squeaked out a win. The two QBs projected 1 & 2 in this years draft, I'm not impressed with at all. There are some kick ass prospects that can be drafted later round one or round two. Trade our (Hopefully) #1 pick from Carolina for a boat load of picks. Draft a QB like Daniels (may very well be the best of the lot) with one of those extra picks and grab 3 or 4 blue chip players to strengthen the Bears' roster.

    ad nauseam ...
  18. Sucks. At least they are going to go to a 12 team playoff next year. Florida State & Georgia should both be in the playoffs. Has to be disappointing to players on those two teams, especially seniors.
  19. In the past I didn't watch that many college games, but I ODed on them this week. Some amazing games. Loved the Washington/Oregon matchup with two top QBs in the draft facing each other. Then Alabama defeating Georgia and knocking them out of the Championship playoffs. Amazing!

The problem is, as I see it, Fields' trade value is currently so low that we'd be basically dumping him. Those of you who want to see us trade him, you'd best hope he looks terrific in the last 5 games so that we can get a good enough offer for Poles to consider. BUT. Wait. If he kicks butt in the last 5, do we want to trade him, or keep him? Gets complicated. I have faith in Poles to figure it out without my help. LOL

I am so sorry to hear that your wife is fighting cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with your family as you try to handle this terrible burden.

Maybe because when Chase evaluates Fields, he sees a QUARTERBACK. When BearFanPHX evaluates Fields, he sees a TURD. (His term of endearment, not mine.) Makes it hard for him to be objective. However, I still love y'all. ?

I agree, I think the thumb is still an issue and probably contributed to the two fumbles.
  24. I respect you for your opinion, you are a true Bear Fan and wear your emotions on your sleeve. However, you really do need to respect other's opinions as well. You say you see Justin as a 'turd' (so if we trade him we can only expect a roll of toilet paper in exchange? LOL ) You say we should all see what you are seeing. I totally disagree with your assessment. The kid has Talent. Athleticism. Heart. What he doesn't have is a Offensive Coordinator who can utilize his talents. Who can design a game plan to allow him to shine. To allow "OUR" beloved Bears to be a top ten offense. One more top shelf WR and more help for the OL, and we are going to kick ass (with the right man designing and calling the plays). The 2024 draft has some outstanding prospects for OL & WR. By the end of the year I might feel differently, but for now I am not giving up on Fields.
