    Depth on Defense

Very encouraging article. I have high expectations for our defense this year. I'm uncertain about our offense, although I would assume we will see a definite improvement over last year's boring, predictable, and unimaginative crap we attempted to orchestrate.
  2. In past years we had a fun and competitive free redraft league set up with a high scoring format and a large roster to work with. Is there an interest in starting this league again? If there is, I would love to join. We would need a minimum of 10 teams, preferably twelve. So, are there another 9 to 11 of you who would be interested in a free redraft league?
  3. Thanks BFNYC, I'm doing okay. Have been recovering from a nasty burn on my chest. Finally got my walking papers from the wound center today. I guess you can say I'm on probation. It's been a rough year, one thing after another. I don't understand. I'm not under contract with the Bears. How come I'm always on the disabled list?
  4. I found this article on Anthony Miller on NBC Sports Chicago website. I loved it and thought I would give you the link in case you have not had a chance to read it. Good Stuff! Very encouraging! One reason why Anthony Miller may be on the route to immediate success in the NFL
  5. As much as I liked our 1st round selection, I'd have preferred Edmunds over Smith. Hopefully I'm wrong. I think Smith will be good but I thought Edmunds would've been better. Pace/Nagy/Fangio thought otherwise. I trust their judgment. I'm sure Pace/Nage/and HH all felt Daniels was the best OL prospect available at the time we picked in the second. I just don't know much about him other than there is a possible question with his knees. So I chose Anthony Miller as my favorite as I think he will kick ass in the Nagy Offensive Scheme and will be needed, especially if any injuries occur to our WRs during the season (almost a given).
  6. I just saw this on ESPN Chicago I have to believe this was agreed on by HH, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
  7. Possibly Buffalo was concerned if they traded with the Bears Arizona would jump them by trading with Tampa? Both teams needed a QB bad this year. Arizona finally traded up later.
  8. I'm pretty much open, there are a lot of guys I like. The one I like that I think will be available at #8 is Tremaine Edmunds. However, If we could trade up for Chubb, or have Nelson or Smith fall in our laps, fantastic! Trade down, fine, as long as we get a great deal. What I don't like, and will get pissed off if I see it happen, as I personally have seen it happen too often: Drafting a player who only had 5 sacks in his best year in college and project him as a double digit sack master difference maker in the Pros and drafting him in the first round. BULL SHIT. Telling me a player is better than he is projected because he has a "chip in his shoulder" BULL SHIT If a player needs to have a chip on his shoulder to be motivated to play his best, I don't want him. EVERY player drafted should have that "prove it" attitude. A GM trying to be cute, showing his peers he is smarter than they are, by drafting an obscure player from a small school with no experience against quality opponents and expecting him to be the super sleeper blue chip player that everyone else missed Yes, you guessed it, BULL SHIT
  9. I found this article on nbcsports.com an excellent read. I would have to agree totally with their assessment of our needs in the draft, although I'm also certain many of you would disagree. Ranking the Bears' Draft Needs No. 13 to No. 1
  10. Thanks AG, I liked the highlight clips. Fowler certainly showed his speed. He made some difficult catches and seems to have good hands. It'll be interesting to see how he does. I have a feeling this will prove out to be a very good signing.
  11. Jeff Dickerson, ESPN Staff Writer, Posted this on ESPN.com I don't know anything about Bennie Fowler other that what is quoted. Is he just camp fodder or does he have a chance to be anything beyond a game day inactive?
  12. I loved the concept. I thought the trade down scenarios were realistic and well thought out. A lot of times when I read a post of this sort the "bounty" for trading down is very unrealistic. I think yours is on target. I do agree with others, I believe R. Smith is a potential top 10 pick. The other change I would make is instead of a Kicker in round 7 I'd go with a Punter
  13. I was pissed when they let Robbie Gould go, he was an outstanding placekicker for us. I hope this new PK we signed away from the Dolphins is as good as everyone seems to proclaim he is. I have Never been a big fan of our Punter. Now I see one of the best punters in the NFL over the past few years, Marquette King, has been released from Oakland. I hope that Pace signs this guy!
  14. Hope this helps with our injury problems, certainly can't hurt: Bears hire Andre Tucker as head athletic trainer, Jason Loscalzo as strength coach Washington State strength and conditioning coach Jason Loscalzo to join Chicago Bears

    HOF game

Since Nagy had been with Andy Reid for so long, does anyone know what Reid's system was for preseason games? Did he keep his starters sidelined as much as possible to try to limit injuries? Was Reid an all-out tough training camp guy or did he back-off and try to stay healthy? If we could look into how Reid handled training camp and preseason games it might give us an idea of what to expect, as I assume Nagy would have a tendency to do the same.
  16. Is that good or bad news?

    Matt Nagy

Here is a link to a rather long article but very informative, basically giving a lot of information on Nagy's past. I found some of it very interesting, some a bit boring, but in the end was happy I took time to read it as I feel I have a better understanding of him on the personal side. This guy absolutely lives and breathes football. The Six Conversations That Changed Matt Nagy's Life

Now with Nagy as HC, I hope: DeFilippo agrees to become OC after not getting a HC gig (too early to tell) Fangio, Nagy, and Pace work it out where he remains DC That is a threesome I would love to see

    Matt Nagy

Yes, I was just reading another article and realized my mistake, and see where TD is coming from. My mistake.

    Matt Nagy

Sounds like to me he has two years experience as OC according to this quote:
  21. If I was the owner of the Cleveland Browns I would be doing everything I could to get him as my GM.
  22. Pace is interviewing DeFilippo today. I still like this guy.
  23. And in my opinion, that is why it is impossible to know for sure about DeFillippo DeFillippo is a QB coach who many think will make a good OC He is suppose to be an excellent QB guru, developing them But, as you mentioned, the success of a QB also requires an OC who knows which plays to call and when against a defense. In Philly, DeFillippo did not have the chance to do that, so if he did, would he have done a better job than Philly's current OC and therefore give Wentz a chance to have a higher completion % and even greater success? Let's face it, hiring a HC is a crap shoot. There have been many hired by teams that I thought would be great and failed, and vica versa
  24. I see where Pat Shurmur was interviewed by Pace. After reading the article I must admit I would not be upset if they hired him as HC, although I would still prefer the QB coach from Philly. Pace Interviews Pat Shurmer, OC MN, for HC Position
  25. Right on, Gase will be the HC/OC. Loggains will be his puppet.
