  1. Agree, Great first year as a rookie. Had great numbers in year two. Both his first two years he had Big Ben at QB. Then, here comes Mitch & Kenny as QB. The worse start for Pit under Tomlin as HC. Not Claypool's fault. I think Pit sees a mini-rebuild and wanted some draft capitol. Anxious to see the Bears with Claypool in the lineup.
  2. LOL - We think alike. I read several articles claiming the Packers were interested in Claypool. Love it!
  3. Bears turn around and trade a 2nd round pick for WR Chase Claypool! Bears to get Chase Claypool in trade with Steelers Good move, IMO. Chase has caught 32 passes for 311 yards and a touchdown for the Steelers this season despite having an unstable QB room. He will be a great addition to help Fields. Here is a quote from WindyCityGridiron.com:

I've lost track. What exactly is our war chest for next year's draft after this trade?

It's a shame that Quinn hadn't accumulated better stats for this year. If, as an example, he had more tackles and 4+ sacks to his credit for 2022, I am sure the draft pick would have been a 2nd or maybe a 3rd & 4th. I think I read this will put us around 123 million under the cap for next year. Poles has to use it wisely! Question has to be what this will do to our team's morale. R Smith was visibly upset over the news. Will he demand to be traded? He didn't seem to have much respect for the Bears after his failed negotiation of a new contract. I can't believe this has improved his opinion of same.

I read somewhere that the Packers were interested in Moore. SUCKS. Hope they do not sign him.
  7. Short turn around is hard on players but because of the conditioning program Flus put our team through, and the fact it is in Chicago, I think we will be at a big advantage over Washington late in the game when players typically begin to wear down.
  8. Are the Bears going to be able to stop Barkley? If we keep him below 100 yds, we win. If he has another huge day, we lose. IMO
  9. Gotta agree. I can't say I am happy about the play calling. I am disappointed in Fields' performance. ;-(
  10. To be honest, we are lucky Bears DL Jones didn't get called for taunting on the TFL and later on offense just before the Bears TD, on the running play Monty took inside the 5, Jenkins held his man.
  11. Surprise! Surprise! Announcers already coming up with excuses for SF losing, not giving the Bears any kudos.
  12. Now, that pass to STB was Fields best pass of the day. Promising!
  13. Wow, now we know Fields can hit a wide open receiver when the overage beaks down. ?
  14. Question the play calling for CHI. All SF needs to do is concentrate on Montgomery. Boring.

100% - That is why I posted my overly optimistic prediction. I want Lynch & Shanahan crying in the beers after the game for passing on Fields to take Lance.
  16. Pixote replied to AZ54's topic in Bearstalk
That's fantastic news. I hope they are able to play game 1 against SF. If they are ready to contribute, it greatly increases our chances of upsetting SF. Fantasy Dream, Fields 4 TD 0 INT - Lance 0 TD 4 INT ?

I agree that it 'might' be too soon for Jones & Pringle to take full snaps, but I think both could contribute by being inserted into the lineup for a half dozen or so plays when the situation presents itself. I have my fingers crossed. I was looking forward to both of these players stepping up big time this year to give Fields more options to add to Mooney, Kmet, and our RBs.

Looks fantastic! DBDB, Thank You! We all appreciate your dedication to this site, allowing us a chance to share our love for the Bears.

If Borom, Jenkins, and Jones all three develop into above average starters, we have a promising start to a young offensive line for the future.

What worries me? I was hoping you'd ask. All of this talk about how much improved our OL looks. I pray that once the season begins I see the improvement. But on the basis of the first PRESEASON game I sure don't see it. Fields took 19 snaps from the center in the first game, was hit multiple times and sacked twice. From what I can tell, the average number of offensive plays/game for a team is between 60 and 70 per game. That would mean Fields was on a pace to be sacked 6 times if he played a full game? Giving up 6 sacks in a game really sucks!
  21. I can understand taking him off the PUP and I assume enforcing the daily fines. The Bears tried to give him what they thought was a fair contract. While doing so they covered his ass so he wouldn't have to pay fines for not practicing with his teammates despite being scheduled to make almost 10M on his rookie contract. So to repay Poles and the Bears for this kind gesture, saving him (?) 40K per day he makes a public demand for a trade saying he isn't being offered respect. I hope things get worked out, but until things are resolved, he can pay the fines. A 1sr & 3rd rounder would be fine by me.
  22. A writer for NFL.com just posted his power rankings for 2022. I find it hard to believe he has the Bears at #32. 2022 Power Rankings by Dan Hanzus of NFL.com

I get tired of all of the BS. If this were during the season, I can understand needing to keep some information confidential. You don't want to let opponents know information that might allow them to better prepare for you. But we haven't even played our first preseason game. There is no reason not to be open with the fans about situations like Jenkins missing practices. Poles, Flus, Getsy, and Jenkins himself set themselves up for wild rumors that could be avoided with transparency. If he is injured, what was the injury? If he is not in proper condition, admit it. If he has a drinking problem, fans will understand and support him. But to do the annoying white lies, humming and hawing, only leads to radical speculation of possible reasons for his absence that often are far worse than reality. Maybe a coach would prefer to have the player admit to the fans/press what the issue is. I just listened to Jenkins' press conference. His response to questions? "I'd rather not say." I learned nothing from the interview. A waste of my time. Fluff. That's all it was. B.S.

Yes, Thomas was also a bust for SF. Lynch was clever to con Pace. Then he squandered the bounty he received.

I get it. Trubisky was victimized in part by a piss poor Bears' coaching staff. However, he owns a lot of his failure. I wasn't at all surprised he failed. We sure as hell should have never traded up for him. SF schooled our GM. He certainly did not come into the draft with an impressive college resume. Huge risk! I was pissed, wanting to wait to draft a QB. We could have drafted Watson or Mahomes without giving up draft capital. So when everyone was so complimentary of Pittsburgh signing Trubisky, acting like he was going to be a 'Franchise QB" because of spending a year behind Josh Allen, I had to laugh my ass off. It appears he is proving me right. He will never be any more than an average backup QB. He'll retire 10 years from now after playing for a half dozen teams, complaining he never got a chance to prove himself.
