  1. With the way the season is going for the Bears, if we had players elected to the Pro Bowl, they would probably become injured during the game and miss all of next season on IR.
  2. I am not saying cut Barkley. I am just saying my expectations of his future has been altered. I was beginning to think he could be THE starter for us going forward. Now I am not sure. He would, at the very least, be an excellent #2. I was hoping he could emerge as a surprise #1 QB for the Bears. Time will tell.
  3. Barkley seems to be a bit Cutleresque today, IMO. I guess we could come up with some excuses. Hell, we excused Cutler for 9 years?, Barkely has only started 4 games? Let's just say that before today I was guardedly optimistic. Now I am just frustrated at what I am seeing. (While posting this response several other posts were made but I will just leave this as it was initially typed)
  4. I have said it before, if HC Fox is fired, I want Fangio as our next HC. For one thing it will allow for our defense to continue to grow. It will only get better under Fangio as the youth gets experience and the DBs are strengthened. Secondly, he has a personality I love, open and honest, does not sugar coat things. Love it!
  5. I have read some articles where the "Draft Gurus" are speculating this year could be one of those rare years where no QB is drafted in the first round. That is how bad this year's QB draft class is. Now being a quality starter can certainly be drafted later than round 1 as we have all seen happen many times in the past I would say go with BPA/Need in round one and then go with best QB available in round 2. I would prefer that than to "reach" in round one because of need and increase the already high risk of a 1st rd bust at QB. Is Trubisky even going to declare this year? If it were not for the lack of quality QBs declaring for this year's draft would we even consider him a top 10 pick? With only 1 year of experience unless he honestly thinks he will be a high 1st round pick he would be better off delaying going into the draft, IMO. So I am hoping for a solid QB prospect in the draft, possibly day 2, and that Hoyer returns healthy for training camp next year (I personally like him better than Barkley) along with Barkley and Shaw then let's see who is standing once the dust settles. Heck, draft a QB in round 2 and another in round 4 or 5, let them slug it out.
  6. I hope you guys are right, I would love to get something, ANYTHING, in return for Cutler leaving town.
  7. Now that would really piss me off. If Fox & Fangio cannot get along then as far as I am concerned Fox can leave and promote Fangio to HC.
  8. Hroniss Grasu was thought to be our future at center. He was, to the best of my knowledge, never thought of as a G/C, just a Center. However, once injured Cody Whitehair took over, a player supposedly a OG that was converted to center and has done exceptionally well. So what happens next year? Do we try to convert Grasu to a OG? I do not think he has the size to succeed there. Does Grasu return to OC and Cody Whitehair return to OG? I am kind of curious how this plays out. I actually think I would keep Whitehair at OC. However, I am not sure where that puts Grasu.
  9. You know what, when I read about this guy I had to scratch my head. I mean a 2nd round draft pick that a team obviously gave up on and traded him for a 7th round pick and then was cut by that team? Yet, his stats, although they do not blow one away, do not look that bad. 52 NFL games with 37 starts, recording 132 tackles, seven interceptions, 16 pass breakups and two tackles-for-loss Those are not league MVP stats, not pro bowl stats, but seem to me to be better than a young street FA. Does anyone know why this guy seems to have fallen from grace with the teams he has been with?
  10. IMO, no better, no worse, all 3 are no better than backup QBs which are a dime a dozen. I would not give up draft picks for either one of the three. You can pick up a FA QB cheap w/o losing a draft pick that will do as well as a backup QB.
  11. If you were a GM of a team in desperate need for a starting QB what would you offer for Cutler who has underchieved for the past 9 years in Chicago? If Pace were to offer anything beyond a conditional 7th rounder for a QB like him to come to the Bears I would be pissed. I would not even want a Rookie QB that I drafted to be groomed as a starter while learning poor mechanics and leadership abilities from Cutler. Someone might take a flyer on him as a FA with a lesser contract but I do not see anyone giving him big $$$ to play for them or draft picks in a trade for him.
  12. A very interesting possibility. Hard to judge off of one start/complete game but he certainly looked promising. I know for sure of 3 passes to 3 different receivers, 2 on the final drive, that should have been caught in the end zone. Add to those drops the additional drops that occured during the game (a really bad game by our WRs) and Barkley would have put up some huge numbers.
  13. If Fox were to be replaced I would love to see Fangio be promoted to HC and have him choose his coaching staff to help him turn this thing around. I am still undecided in my own mind as to if I feel Fox should go or be given another year.
  14. If Romo isn't careful he will wind up in a wheel chair for the remainder of his life. How many back surgeries is he going to endure before he realizes it is time to retire? That is why I am reluctant to want to sign him. No, I do not want Cutler as a transition QB. But I do not want to waste big $$ on Romo's bad back.
  15. Romo is too high of an injury risk NE QBs going to other teams never seem to work out Everytime we try trading picks for QBs we get bit in the ass Cutler & R Mirer cost us a total of 4 1st rounders between the two. What a waste. Draft good prospects, develop them, that is the only long term solution IMO
  16. I think every GM in the NFL knows we will be cutting him loose (I hope our GM knows this, LOL), why trade for him? IMO he walks away, free agent.

Thank You, I appreciate your response & understanding.
  18. I just saw this on the Bears site, good news IMO for Whitehair, could help him a lot in his development as an OC:
  19. There was a post which would have brought up a discussion of the current trend of some players refusing to stand for the National Anthem. I am sure there are some strong opinions on this topic. I deleted the post simply because from past experience this would become a powder keg in short order. We try not to censor posts, we really do, but we also do not want the Bears Forum to be used to discuss topics which might be very sensitive to members and result in controversial exchanges of opinion on topics not related to football. I hope everyone understands.
  20. Every year, year after year, at least one poster on the forum will say they give up on the Bears. I disagree with you on Pace, I think he has done a heck of a job in the short time he has had to try and correct over a decade of piss poor management by his predcessors. However, that being said, even if I agreed with you on your evaluation of Pace, I would still be a Bears fanatic. I guess you could say I am a "LIFER". LOL
  21. I am concerned over that also. I am actually more excited about Bullard than Floyd at this point. I am hoping that Floyd will eventually live up to our expectations when drafted. I am thinking that Bullard might contribute from the get go.
  22. I wonder what "out of shape" is referring to? If it is stamina and endurance then I am concerned. If by saying he is out of shape is referring to needing to add more muscle/weight, well that is not something that takes time. So I guess I am hoping he is referring to, what has been eluded to before, the need to add more muscle and weight.

    Gould is gone

A lot of teams are making moves at this time of year, just like every year, that make you scratch your head a bit. Look at Tompson in GB cutting a Pro Bowl OG less than a week before the start of the season. NEP cut their starting center and now one of their starting OG. The Saints cut Barth to keep Forbath, then cut Forbath to pick up an unproven rookie from BAL, W Lutz So although it looks crazy, it is certainly not anything new. I am puzzled by some of the moves myself but I am reasonably sure they are truly convinced it is for the best and not just Cap related. Only time will tell, I will just sit back and enjoy the season.
