Trading Justin Fields
If anything, the false rumors of us trading Fields and drafting a QB with our #1 is a mind game intended to force those wanting to trade up to sweeten the deal. We want Houston, Indy, etc... to think we might draft the QB they covet. There is no way in hell we trade Fields this year. He is our starting QB for 2023, and will prove he is our future.

Interest for #1 pick heating up
Poles needs to be patient. No need to move too soon. Week before the draft? Night before the draft? Let the suitors for the pick ante up.

Agree with everything you said.

Plant this here
I think he will be tagged. Ron is well liked as the HC. They have, from what I hear, a good locker room. I think other players will restructure as needed to keep this guy on their team. I pray I'm wrong. But far too often we think a player will be cut for cap reasons and he winds up being signed.

Getsy a Senior Bowl HC
I love talented Seniors, LOL. Far too often we draft players who only have limited experience, leave college early to get the big paycheck, and are selected solely because of "potential" or "measurables." I prefer players who had success against top level opponents. Players who have the experience and maturity players leaving college early quite often lack.

Stinger, loved this preview from Swift Sports. I hope you post the remainder of the series where he goes over FAs available at other positions, especially OL and WR. Thanks for posting this one on the DL FA prospects. A good number of interesting options for the Bears.

I'm with you. I thought maybe it was just an issue with my browser or pc. You're the first to mention having issues. I have had several extended periods when I could not log into the site.

The Jacksonville comparison
I'm not totally sold on Trevor. Yes, he had a great comeback in the second half, AFTER throwing four interceptions in the first half. The main reason for Jacksonville winning? Did you see the Chargers players celebrating their victory on the sidelines after they went up 27 to 0 with two minutes remaining before half-time? IDIOTS! I knew as soon as I saw them dancing and high fiving, they were in trouble. He does have that 'hair flip' mastered. ? ?

THE CHICAGO BEARS HAVE THE #1 PICK
What we will not know for awhile is which of these QB needy teams (and possible trade partners) will opt to go after a FA or trade for a vet. Example: I just read a writer speculating Indy and the Jets as two possible suiters for D Carr. Hopefully Indy has learned their lesson about acquiring retreads.

Kevin Warren - new team President
Compared to our previous Team Presidents, this guy seems totally over qualified. ?

What Results Do You Expect Next Year?
Strength of Schedule can be deceiving, however, if you look at next year's opponents, and their 2022 records, the Bears have every reason to believe on SOS alone, they will greatly improve their 3 wins. KCC & LAC are the two best teams we will face. I think MIN was a fluke, should have had 9 or 10 wins, not 13. They really lucked out on more than a few wins. Detroit? They are hard to figure out. HOME Lions 9-8-0 Packers 8-9-0 Vikings 13-4-0 ============ Falcons 7-10-0 Panthers 7-10-0 Broncos 5-12-0 Raiders 6-11-0 Cardinals 4-13-0 AWAY Lions 9-8-0 Packers 8-9-0 Vikings 13-4-0 ============ Chiefs 14-3-0 Chargers 10-7-0 Saints 7-10-0 Buccaneers 8-9-0 Commanders 8-8-1 Browns 7-10-0 143-145-1

My Soapbox
No Joke. I remember "in the good old days" ?when it was the Rose Bowl, Orange, Cotton, Sugar, Gator, etc... Bowl Money talks. Now I watch Notre Dame in the TaxSlayer (Gator) Bowl.

My Soapbox
Watching the Year-End College games, I cannot help but list my takes. First, the College system for games tied at end of regulation is awesome. BOTH teams have a chance to win in overtime, not just the team who is lucky enough to win a coin toss and get a TD, leaving the loser of the coin toss frustrated. Why in the hell doesn't the NFL wake up and make changes? Second, Colleges are basically the NFL's minor league system. Our developmental league. So why in the hell do they have different rules? Wouldn't it make sense for these college players to be acclimated to the rules they are going to be asked to play by if drafted? (Example 1: In college football, there only needs to be one foot down for it to be considered a completed pass while the NFL requires two feet down. Example 2: Contact is necessary to be ruled down in the NFL, but not in college football) Even penalties are different. Finally, and this goes for NFL games as well as the FCS, why the hell is a HC who is trying to do his job required to stop to talk to some bimbo wearing spike heals on the sideline to answer dumb ass questions? Okay, I step down from my soap box. (Hope I didn't offend any bimbos ?)

Holy Cow Zach Wilson/Tua/Russell Wilson are bad
There are a lot of teams in QB trouble, and thank God for once, we aren't one of them. Arizona and Denver are going to choke on those big QB contracts. They both have huge question marks at QB. GBP & CLE spent a fortune on their QBs and will regret their decision. Rodgers is not the MVP of the past and Watson doesn't seem to be able to regain his old form. Zack Wilson and M Jones? LOL Tua started off the year great. Now for the past 4 or 5 games he is back to sucking hind tit. Just how many teams have true franchise QBs that are earning their paychecks OR about not about to retire? That #2 pick could be quite valuable. Again, Thank God we drafted Fields. Now get him some legitimate WRs and keep him safe with a top 5 OL.

LOL - Love it! Never thought if that possibility when confessing my lack of ability in judging talent for the draft.

Holy Cow Zach Wilson/Tua/Russell Wilson are bad
I'm embarrassed to admit I liked him coming out of college and would been thrilled if the Bears drafted him. Don't get me wrong. I was all on board with the drafting of Fields. Just didn't think he'd be available. I am just admitting I was totally wrong in my assessment of Wilson. Thank God I'm not the Bears GM.

I'm Worried About Winning
I thought I read on NFL.com that Seattle (with Denver's 1st round pick obtained for Wilson) moved up to the 2nd pick when Denver lost while we were on bye. If that be the case, we will probably drop further soon. The Detroit game will be winnable, and I believe we play the Vikings for the season finale. If the Vikings have nothing to gain with a victory, they may rest all of their key starters for the playoffs.

Packers loss is a Bears win
Yep, 30 straight years having a HOF caliber QB. Then, back when I was in HS, Bart Starr was the QB for 12 years. That makes a total of 42 years with a HOF (or future HOF) QB leading the offense. Makes me sick. LOL

Wk 10 Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
Struggling here. In the past I've always been willing to make a deal with the devil for a Bears' victory. Now I realize, in a year where we are evaluating for a rebuild while watching Fields grow into a franchise QB, that every loss improves our positioning in all rounds of the draft. For me, it's an emotional rollercoaster.

Wk 10 Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
I wish I could remember what site / article I read this, but Reiff's contract gives him a huge, multi-million dollar bonus is he plays XX% of the offensive snaps over the course of the year. I just cannot remember for sure the figures, but I think it was like 10% of the snaps and a 5M bonus. I wouldn't be surprised if this causes the Bears to keep him on a snap count. I just found an article with the details. I was close:

Hell, I would just like to see him used, period.

Roster stuff
Thanks, that would have been an awesome stat line for is debut. Then ad that to Field's passing stat line and it makes you realize just how amazing his game was against Miami. Watching that video really fires me up. How in the hell could the refs not call that PI? Then to see Brown drop that pass at the end of the video. So tired of all of the drops. We had a chance to win that game!

Week 9 Game Thread Mia @ Chi
I was thinking the same thing. I know, if given the time to throw, and receivers that can separate and catch the damn ball, that Fields can easily be a top 10 passer. His completion percentage lately has been top notch. (I am getting really pissed at some of the drops that has cost us games this year.)

Roster stuff
Question on Claypool stat line. No one expected much from Claypool in his first game since he didn't have much time to learn our playbook. (At least I didn't ;-)) So, my question is: Fields went long to Claypool twice. Both times he was interfered with. One was called. The second, the ref had to be blind, the Miami defender was hugging Claypool like his teddy bear at bedtime. If Claypool hadn't been interfered with on those two passes, and he caught both (not even considering YAC) what would it resulted in his stat line? My guess is even w/o YAC, it would have been impressive for someone with less than a week to prepare. Anyone know how many yards he would have had on those two throws if he caught them without interference and was tackled immediately?
