Bears denied
There are experienced OCs out there. Just do not know if they would be interested. Fassel, Gailey, Musgrave, & Reeves have been mentioned by the media as possibilities. Saunders & Martz have been mentioned but I am not sure their systems would be a good "fit" for the Bears. Judd Fish, OC for Univ of MIN and former coach for DEN with ties to Cutler is a possibility but lacks NFL OC experience. Maybe a better QB coach option.

Fewell to accept DC position
I agree, Fewell will be a breath of fresh air. He is vocal and animated. He holds his players accountable. He has a reputation of being a good teacher of technique. He took a 2nd round selection rookie (J Byrd) and turned him into one of the better safeties in the league. Buffalo had an excellent Pass Defense. Their pass defense was 2nd in the NFL behind only NYJ. I think he did well as an interim HC considering what he had to work with. What was it, 17 players on IR? I am surprised the Bills do not give him a shot next year running as HC. Of course he is one of Lovie's buddies and if I am to believe many on this forum that means this guy will totally suck.

not afraid yet? maybe you SHOULD be...
Personally, my gut check reaction was disappointment, wanting to see a house cleaning. In the time since the press conferences, after thinking things over, I have changed my opinions somewhat. If I had been V.M., I would, in retrospect, done the same thing. We were 7-9 last year. If we had been 10-6 we probably would not have made the playoffs, I say probably because it depends on which of the 3 games we lost would have been victories, and we all would not be nearly as upset. The main problems we had last year were: The defense, not because it was a cover 2 scheme, but because it was not implemented correctly and because of the play calling. Lovie has conceded that although he wants to continue the cover 2 (or in other words, a 4-3 defense vs a 3-4) He has also conceded we need new ideas and approach to the defense and is willing to allow a new DC to come in with new ideas to implement. Also, I do not feel our defensive personnel is as bad as some make out. We had significant injuries, starting in game 1, and I have no doubt if healthy, our personnel group is fine. DL worries me. Safety is marginal. Those positions can be fixed with the proper acquisitions. Our offense cost us huge. Why? The main reason was poor play calling by Turner. He never gave Cutler the plays he needed to be successful. The OL never gave Cutler a chance to perform to his ability. We are changing our OC & OL coaches. We need to acquire some replacements on the OL. This will be done. By changing the way we play our 4-3 cover 2 in adding a new DC and by bringing in an OC who can give Cutler the playbook he needs to succeed, I feel the Bears can turn this around quickly. If we had scuttled the entire staff from JA on down, then we are talking a total rebuilding project that would probably take years to implement. In the light of the negotiations with the CBA and the situation at hand, I think V.M. made the right move. I have no doubt in my mind that if we do not turn it around immediately, next year, that the wholesale changes everyone wants will take place. Now if we do not turn it completely around next year, and V.M. does not make the wholesale changes, I will be on this forum criticizing her decision. BUT, in doing so, I will not feel it necessary to make personally insulting statements that have nothing to do with my feeling she screwed up. I will keep it focused on the issues at hand.

Treat yourself to some Pack bashing!
I hate the "Leap" but now I see why the players seek out their "loving" fans, lol

I trust you, just confused (not unusual for a senile old man - ask bowlingtwig, he can attest to my mental state, or lack there of, lol). I did not realize you were talking about per centages. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

TalkBears Keeper Polls
Gotcha, so 180.00 has been collected and Acedthesobrietytest has posted on the Yahoo league site requesting info on how to pay. Looks like we are in good shape to have all 200.00 collected. Sorry flea, did not know you paid.

Never played Keeper before so let me say that before I make my suggestion: Let's keep 1 player only. That player has to be a player you drafted and kept on your roster for the entire season. You lose the draft pick for whatever round you drafted that player. Not sure if we would have access to our draft info or this years rosters next year so I am not sure how that would work.

BlueCollarBears I believe is the other team that has not paid. I believe he had a problem with the site and asked for an alternate means of paying but was not responded to.

There was 160.00 collected. 2 members still need to pay. The pot should be 200.00. I Know Acedthesobrietytest posted on the league site wanting to know how to pay. The options you give for payouts show a pot of 100.00. What is up with this?

Martz?!?!?!
Bogus. Anyone who wants to can register with that site and post articles. We had a couple of guys register with this forum so they could post links to their articles on the Bleacher Report and spam our site. The articles sucked. If you notice Andy who wrote the article is mentioning himself as the beat reporter breaking the news for a program on the Score that does not even exist.

Perry Fewell for DC
I found this article about Fewell. I am getting to like this guy. I hope when he interviews with us next week he does not leave without signing a contract. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ccountable.html The title says it all: Bowen: Fewell would hold players accountable

How soon do the Bears announce replacements?
Would we really want Bates as an OC? He called plays for Denver but Shanny was actually playing the part of OC. He did prep Cutler, but would he accept a QB Coach job? From this excert from an article, it appears he had limited success as an OC for USC (last paragraph scares me).

Boycott the Home Opener
A little over the edge I would say. You really expect 50,000 empty seats? They will be sold out. You really want to condemn Virginia M. to hell because she did not give you your wishes? From your post, you think Virginia was G Halas's wife? How about daughter. Sorry about you job loss, I am in the same boat. However, let's not lose touch with reality.

How soon do the Bears announce replacements?
If there is someone on one of the 12 teams that are in the playoffs that they want to approach they may decide to wait until their team is eliminated or wins the SB but otherwise I suspect they will start the process immediately.

PRESS CONFERENCE -- BULL$@!%
Many of us wanted Cowher. Jeff Fisher is well liked by most of us on the forum. I never cared for Holmgren, probably because he was HC of GBP but he was considered a very good HC. I am sure there was a time when fans wanted them fired as well when they missed the playoffs three years in a row. I think the moves today "COULD BE" significant enough to change things around. I want to wait and see who is brought in as OC & DC before I totally evaluate what I heard and saw at the news conference.

Projected 2010 Schedule
How can we predict our wins & loses when we do not know who will be our GM, HC, DC, OC etc.... Maybe we stay status quo, maybe we make changes How can we predict our wins & loses when we do not know how our roster's weaknesses are addressed via FA, trades, &/or the draft? I know we are beginning a long off season and we need to discuss something to keep from going crazy, but I think I will wait until some of the answers to the above are given before I will attempt to answer the question implied in this thread.
