Urlacher speaks
Jason - you never did answer my question. "What's is the team supposed to do - keep them as long as they want to play?" Peace

Urlacher speaks
So what should they pay him? Whatever he wants? He has to be willing to accept a huge pay cut to stay IMO. Peace

I don't mind keep him around but I would not pay him more than $2 million a year for 2 years. He was been handsomely rewarded by the Bears and I think a nice hometown discount is in order if he wants to stay. Peace

You don't win by keeping a player for sentimental value. Professional sports teams know when it's time to move on. If the player doesn't know it's time to retire, what is the team supposed to do - keep them as long as they want to play? Ridiculous. I didn't said league minimum - I said somewhere around league minimum. League minimum for a veteran with over 10 years of experience is $940 k this year. I wouldn't pay him more than 2 million a year on a 2 year deal to keep him (much closer to the league minimum than his previous salary). Urlacher made millions playing for the Bears. If he is not willing to give a big hometown discount to stay with the team then it is time to thank him and move on. Peace

You mean like Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Junior Saeu, etc.... Happens all the time. Here's a list of a whole bunch of them. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/714377-...-the-wrong-team Loved Urlacher as a player. He is a Hall of Famer. He also is not the player he used to be. Unless he is willing to come back for somewhere around league minimum, its time to move on. Peace

He is not under contract. They would not be cutting him. Peace

Chris Harris is back
Great hire. Essentially a grad assistant. This is how Ron Rivera started. Peace

Can we play offense now?
No one is trading us anything for Hester. Peace

WR coach
He must have had pictures of Lovie with an animal because he should have been fired years ago. Peace

Mel Tucker
Just pointing out that past performance does not necessarily reflect future success or failure. Peace

Hard to believe a former failed coach in Cleveland would be a good hire. You know, Bill Belichick. Peace

Tice gone
Drake was horrible. He did not develop 1 player while he was here. I always wondered how the hell he stayed on. Peace

My Big "F You" to the Media...
Exactly. Peace

Marinelli
He is under contract and doesn't have the conflict Toub did (Toub interviewed for the HC job and a has legitimate reason to leave). The Bears are being extremely nice if they are letting him leave for a demotion. I would assume they are not paying him any of his remaining contract since he is requesting to leave. Peace

My Big "F You" to the Media...
Lovie is making 5 million this year and doesn't have to do any work. He'll be fine. Peace

My Big "F You" to the Media...
Agreed. I don't really care about media coverage. Peace

My Big "F You" to the Media...
I not sure what you mean by "the media". Are you referring to local or national or both? I heard a lot of mixed messages from "the media" over the past two weeks (both in support of Emery's actions and against them). Please take no offense but I think you are over generalizing. As for Lovie, I really felt he would get a head coaching job. I believe he is an above average coach but not a great coach. I guess with the concentration on offense, it is going to be harder for defensive coordinators to get head coaching gigs now. Peace

Marinelli
He has not been re-instated by the league yet. Peace

Great update - thanks.

Marc Trestman
Just had to rattle the cage a bit. FYI - he has drawn a lot of comparisons to Jauron from an intelligence standpoint (i.e. the smartest guy in the room). Peace

Play calling will be different (obviously). I like the hire. However, this is not a guy who going to throw his headphones or jump up and down on the sidelines so I know for sure some people might be disappointed. Peace

New Bears Coach
Lou Canelis (sp?) on the Final Word last night said he had been told Thursday or Friday this week (not sure by whom). Peace
