  1. Having Bennett and a healthy Miller would be a boost. I think Khari Lee can develop, but he needs another year as we had to play him to save our investment and put him on active roster. If the Bears can get by next season and let MB sign somewhere as a free agent, then we also get added compensation points which could land us a 5th rd pick. Let him sit if he holds out, but don't lose those potential picks unless a trade with more value comes.
  2. http://www.drafttek.com/2016-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp Drafttek 7 round: 1-A'Shawn Robinson DL Alabama 2-Jayron Kearse SS Clemson 3-John Theus OT Georgia 4-Tyler Matakevick ILB Temple 5-Brandon Facyson CB Auburn 6-Ethan Pocic OG LSU 6-Joe Schobert OLB WIS 6-Aziz Shittu OLB DE Stanford 7-Tajae Sharp WR Mass Not the worst and pretty realistic. I would like ILB higher, but Matekevick is not a slouch. Kearse looked lost in the title game, maybe Donatell can work more magic.
  3. Draftsite must be automated because a while back, they had the Bears selecting 5 CB's. I am also not a fan on their player rankings. I like drafteks latest, ill post it shortly.
  4. Long started off the season playing great, maybe probowl consideration. He did fall off late in the year also. Could of been due to injury, the shuffle at RG, or when MB went down. Hard to pin point, but at one point he played well.
  5. If he is a bad influence in the locker room, I can see trying to trade him. He had an off year with injury and added blocking assignments, which will effect his numbers. Build a better oline, he gets more targets, and his performance improves. Lets see how this team improves before we push away a good player and create a un-timed hole/need.
  6. You have to start somewhere to be an up and coming coach. It sounds like he has player endorsements and their respect. The Fox regime had a clean slate, quickly earned the players respect after Trestman and crew were fired. Gase set the table for Loggains to step in with an upbeat squad. That is a difference from Tucker, who came into an old vet squad with a team that was bitter from the Lovie firing. Fingers are crossed that Loggains has the experience now after a couple failures to succeed. With Fox at the helm and a decent lineup, he should be fine. Invest in the oline and he may be the next hot coaching prospect.
  7. I meant to reply to Lemons message, read yours and ended up putting my post under yours. He said they may take a QB in the top 3 for Cutlers back up plan. My thought is a top 3 RD pick is no more known than Fales. I agree, upgrading the oline is a better investment if you are in tornado alley.

I am with you on that. He has physical traits but never stood above and beyond any of the other DT prospects. He lacks the drive and work ethic to be great. With a deep DT class, get one round 2.
  9. A QB in RDs 1-3 doesn't give you anymore insurance than what we have already in Fales. Fales at least has 3 years of NFL coaching. If they want a true back up plan, signing a vet would be the way to go. This draft the Bears can fill some voids on defense and offensive line.

I am a ND fan and would love to see Smith in Chicago, but that injury is a high risk. He may never be the same. I am reading good things on Cody Whitehair OG and would not flinch if they took him in the 2nd. I would be OK giving Leno another year.
  11. Doesn't AJ usually line up on the left? It also makes sense because he is right handed and throwing right takes extra steps to turn the body.

If Stanley and Jack are gone, I hope there is a QB sitting at pick #11. Perfect situation to trade down. With NO, PHI, STL, BUF, NYJ, and HOU below us, we should get a bite. #12, 13, 15, 19, 20, & 22 are their slots. Teams may bid better than usual since they are in a close range. I doubt NO and BUF would be in the bids, but could take QB if one fell. The move up should net us a 2nd and 3rd or 4th, more so if Hou trades.
  13. The transition tag only gives you the right to match a contract offer and retain the player. It sort of went away because teams are able to structure "poison pill" deals like we did with John Tait. It is available, but if the Bears really want to keep AJ, start working on a long term deal. If that falls through, the use the Franchise tag.
  14. I agree, he hasn't done much all season and he was not in Clemsons game plan to account for.. The TE for Clemson, Legget had a good game too. I would rather spend the picks on defense and oline this year and maybe take TE 5th or after.
  15. How about Howard now? He exposed Clemsons coverage, showed speed and good hands. It was one game, but he earned some extra money tonight.
  16. I am good with it. Fox has more control over the offense with his conservative approach and Loggains will follow the same way. If Fox and Pace are behind it, I have faith.
  17. With Wentz climbing boards, and he may end up at the top, the better it gets for the Bears. If 3 QBs get selected before we pick, that I leaves 8 players dropping. If one is available at 11, maybe STL will want to trade up to build some LA hype. I would gladly trade down to 15 and take a 2nd and possibly a 2017 2nd RD pick. 1-Reggie Ragland LB 2-Cody Whitehair OG or Christian Hackenberg QB 2-Shaun Oakman DT 3-Best SS Karl Joeseph, Jeremy Cash etc 4-Lloyd Carrington CB
  18. Ha! I was there too and left shortly after half time. Went to the bath room before half and thought I was going to get pounced on with Bengal fans jumping in my face saying who dat. I will say the town is nice and the stadium is great, players and fans....not so. Bears fans had a huge showing there too.
  19. I was on the BM bandwagon. Follow him on twitter and instagram etc. I also see the teams side of it. He needs attention, likes the microphone, and says what he wants. The Bears ownership did not want that and I believe most of the players did not like him speaking on their behalf. My biggest regret is not getting enough value on dumping him, but that is what value turns into when a guy has a reputation. Amos will start next year and more than likely through his rookie deal. The coaches got a player they wanted by drafting him.
  20. Marshall won over one player. There are 50 others that despised him. If the trade was straight up for Amos for Marshall, then it is has value because he led this team in tackles and made the all rookie team. Amos has a whole career, Marshall is talking retirement already. The Bears no longer wanted to deal with him. Hard to blame them when 3/4 of the team did not like him.
  21. Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, Peppers, Harris, Brown, Hester...many names that made those teams good. Lovie was a players coach and those players will speak hugely of him. Once those players wilted, Lovie did too. He struggled to find and develop new talent.
  22. Floyd - not a need, pass Nkimdiche- Meh, has the talent and athletic ability, but lacks dedication to the game. Play dropped and has suspectable character concerns. It would take major convincing to Pace, Fox, and Fangio. Smith- was sold until the injury. Bears do not have the luxury to gamble on his health. Ragland- would be happy. Has ability to solidify the middle and put fear in RBs. Would prefer picking him 15ish, not too far from 11. Jack- Yes. Top talent, has DB speed in LB body. He could be special if Fangio implements ILB blitz more. Stanley- Would improve the OLT, but not fill a need at RG/RT. Put at RT and move Long inside, but takes buzz off of pick. Would love pick either way. Looking more and more like ILB imo. Buckner would not surprise me either, but DT is deep in draft this year.
  23. A lot of mixed reports coming out... The latest is no coach is set up for a second interview yet in Philly. They did like what they saw in Gase and still could offer him the job, but nothing has been decided yet.
  24. Hard to believe he was let go so soon. They have to have their mind set on a certain coach to replace him with, you would think. An offensive mind for Winston? Or a defensive mind to get a way from the cover who? Please don't let me see a tweet that TB has requested to interview Fangio.
