Forte will only go if we get a 3-4th, otherwise I think we get a conditional pick for him after the year when he signs elsewhere.
-
Interesting; Pace basically said after the Khari Lee deal he has time and ways to get that 6th round pick back. I do not see Forte moving unless we get more than we think through a compensation pick. He will hit the open market and may get us a 4th or 5th in return. There is only one player left I see and thought would have been traded is Willie Young. I was thinking Carolina for him. I luv Young, but he isn't a natural fit and should have value.
-
0-3 was projected, had to be one of the worst draws to start a season. Get the horses healthy and see what happens.
-
I do recall you lobbying for him. I liked him alot also. I was glad we got Grasu because oline is always a need but he was basically a redshirt pick.

If we by chance end up with a top 3 pick and have choice of QB, you have to seriously consider Jared Goff of Cal. He will have questions because of playing spread offense and being skinny (200#), but the kid has the "it". Why I see that factor is his completion % and TD to INTs. They are both great because he sees the whole field and uses progressions. He doesn't have a go to #1 nfl WR prospect. He knows how to look off DBs and find the open man. Nothing spectacular in athletic or arm strength, but nothing poor in those caregories either. He is clutch and plays big in big games too. He has surpassed all Cals QBs in stats, including Aaron Rodgers too to throw that in. Having Cutler will allow him time to adjust to a NFL system, like Mariota is adjusting to now. If we get the opportunity, I would be torn because of other needs to improve on while having a serviceable guy in Jay, but finding a QB in the draft would be pretty cool too.

We need to find the talent for sure 10 years of misses. I think Carimi could have stuck around if it wasn't for the knee injury, that took away his biggest asset of power. Williams was just piss poor evaluation imo, you cannot miss red flag back problems. Many of us called for Brandon Albert that year even if he was considered more of a G. I am high on USC C, Max Tuerk. I think he will be a great G or possible RT in the NFL. I hope he is our Rd 2 pick if he doesnt keep climbing into rd1. Then we can take a later flier on a OLT development prospect like Joe Haeg of North Dakota St U. This offense is loaded with potential if they can just block or not draw a flag. Defense has a way to go, but they have a young solid front 7 to start. I think Pace should target the best CB and S in FA and buy some time with the D. Add a first rd 5T in Bosa/Nkimdiche to boast the front while waiting on the contracts of Houston, Young, Allen to expire. This is of course if we keep tanking to reach those guys in the top 5. If not, there are some great ILBs in this class with J Smith, S Wright, M Jack we can think about too.

We definately need to invest more draft picks on the O line. I would like to see a first or second round spent here in the next draft. I think on D, we can spend some cap money on defensive backs to improve that unit. I am torn between taking QB with the first or OLT or 5T DE. Cutler can be servicable with a complete unit I feel, but a new face would excite the doubters (Goff). If they go QB or Bosa etc rd1, then round two needs to be on the oline. Right now, Colts fans are angry. They are starting to call for Paganos head and the young GM Grigson. Their D is getting old and they have a poor O line. Sounds familiar. With 7 draft picks, you hope 3 or 4 make it as contibutors. Building a team is tough in this era yet Patriots and Packers seem to find success. It is about having a sucessful gm that picks good coaches that can stay together for years. Together they pick players they will believe in to develop long term. We may be disappointed today, but this is year one of a turn around.
-
I get what you are saying. The quickest way to win now with the core we have is to draft/add defensive playmakers. The best way to win long term is to find a top 5 QB. How long does Virginia want to wait?
-
I agree that I think Jay can get it done with a better D and Oline. We also have more cap space next year than most teams, so we can make a couple big moves in FA also. I prefer to avoid FA, but without many players worthy to re-sign, we have to spend somewhere. A 5T that can rush the pass would be huge, but we have 3 young drafted players that are playing now. Bosa or Nkemdiche would be a bonus. OLB we have McPhee, Houston, Allen, and Young all signed through next season, so drafting one high also seems unlikely. CB or S seem logical to draft. QB is highly possible or offensive line. I would sign the top CB and S in FA this offseason. Draft QB round one, best 5T round 2, and OG round 3. 1-Jared Goff QB 2-DeForest Buckner DE/Bronson Kaufusi DE 6-6 280-290 3-Nick Martin C/G That should solidify the offense for 4-6 years, then the following drafts can go defensive heavy.
-
This could be a tough decision come draft day. Top QB, great OT, or 2 forces on dline, I will even throw in 3 great ILBs with two now hurt. A CB compared to Revis and a top 5-10 S. RD 1 Jared Goff QB-sounds too much like former Cal QB Aaron Rodgers in profiles RD 2 Max Tuerck G/RT - plays C for USC but better used outside IMO. Rd 3 best CB? OR RD1 Ronnie Stanley OLT RD2 Scoobey Wright/Myles Jack ILB RD3 Kevin Hogan QB
-
I don't see were it says that bringing him in to be a scout is trying to "put down Pace". Wouldn't Pace be the one hiring his scouting department anyways? If Long can play OLT and excel, WoW! That would be like drafting Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf luck.
-
Hate to say it, but maybe we need to bring Emery back as a highly paid scout.
-
I think Rolle was more less saying what Fox has said. Kyle didn't play press much last year either, it will take some learning and benching. To give up on him already is too soon. Hopefully he takes to the coaching and improves.
-
1. Jared Goff QB Cal 2. Ronnie Stanley OLT ND 3. Joey Bosa DE OSU 4. Jalen Ramsey CB/S FSU 5. Vernon Hargeaves CB Flor 6. Laremey Tunsil OLT Ole Miss.

Espn had a poll or graph showing which team will get the #1 pick. The Bears were first with 22%, Raiders 2nd at 15% so far at week 2.
-
Jimmy C is starting to become a concussion case lately. That is why I can see a vet brought in. It may be for only two weeks also, which is my thought to begin with. Rent a vet for insurance.
-
True. I had hoped to pull one of these two home games off. Losing Jay 2 games will definately have us looking 0-4. Fales will be brought up and with Claussen one hit to the head away from done, I wouldn't be surprised to see a vet signed too. Christian Ponder or Matt Flynn are two familiar with the division.
-
Not a good start to a new era. I hoped this regime would elevate this roster and keep this season interesting. Now it looks to be trashed and laughable. Hope we get a quick turn around.... heres to next season....already.
-
It might be easier jumping on another bandwagon. Sad they are so far away. QB is not the most glaring need, but we may just have one fall in our laps as disgusting as this seems. This team lacks defensive talent at all levels, yet we will spend out top picks again on QB and oline.
-
Watching Claussen is garbage, to those that would rather watch this than Cutler is bs. I do not buy the hamstring either, rather a shoulder and Fox being sly. This team needs so much more than a new QB I'd like to see a STL Rams deal if we finish as bad as it is looking.
-
Uggh, what happened to Fuller? Since his injury last year he has been terrible.
-
Bunch of game balls going home today. Nice to see Langford taste paydirt. The Bears are keeping this game..
-
I was thinking Dunn, since Ratliff will play more NT. I do want to see Williams develop with the Bears though.
-
It is only because Acho cannot play today. They need someone to cover his ST duties. Once he is healthy, he will be re-signed and Barrow back to the practice squad. This is worked out under the table with Acho. That is my hunch

Everything I have heard for years about Jay is that he is a good leader. He is smart, puts in the work, and gives effort. His teammates may not always like him and it has been noted. I think Jay lacks as a people person. He is not going to buddy up and give you slack or hold your hand (Hester). He will call you out and it may be snarky. When he gets frustrated, you can see he forces things. He fails to succeed when things break down around him (line not giving time, wr running wrong routes, poor play calling, etc) We all know and see these deficiencies. Jay takes the hits and keeps coming back whether it's getting sacked, his players/coaches throwing him under the bus, the media, or fans. This guy deserves a statue so the world can egg it forever. He may not be a Manning, Brady, or Rodgers, but he is our QB. Time to step up.
