  1. He may need replacing, but OLT is the hardest position besides QB. To just throw a 2nd round draft pick in and trust your QB will survive is not wise. I was never in the Leno is good boat, just in the it is not an easy transition and our resources are limited. I want the Bears to draft a RG and OT, because Massie and Leno need to be upgraded and they need a replacement for Long. Does Barr fit in this equation is yet to be seen.
  2. https://www.si.com/nfl/bears/news/how-bears-can-continue-backing-leonard-floyd This seems to give a little more optimism from the teams view on Floyd. I still believe it comes down to an extension. He needs to land more sacks for sure, but the team as a whole fell off there last year too. That is part of a result of not giving the defense a lead to take more risks. Find a way to spread out his contract, use our capital to fill openings, not create more, and keep investing in offense so we can get that part right for once. Openings: RG, ILB, SS, CB Positions to upgrade: OT, TE, QB, speed WR Positions to reinvest, depth/competition: OLB, RB, DT We will see how Pace plans to attack these positions in a few weeks. OLB all depends on an extension, but rotation depth is still needed.
  3. No disagreements, I don't see him having value worth a trade. His value to the Bears would/should be a 3rd RD. Not getting that. Let him play out his contract and if he walks, so be it. They should get a comp value
  4. I want to know who wanted to keep Kendall Wright. Ill admit I liked Meredith but trusted the Bears on letting him go. Pace was establishing a track record on letting guys go like Forte, so I never doubted. Prince and Gabriel were obvious releases. Floyd at 13.4 is out of the question, I see an extension or trade. Shaheen will get a shot in tc. Cohen is not leaving unless an offer is made. Along the oline, I dont see much change except at RG. They can attempt to fix LT but that will be expensive and limit the team on signing their own or bringing in. I expect a draft pick to compete.
  5. I think Nagy used him too much and teams figured him out. He will not cut back and turn upfield once he starts running for the edge. When he thinks about it, he stops and ends up running backwards trying to find space.

  7. Chase Claypool WR/TE ND ran a 4.43.
  8. I kinda hope they extend him to team friendly deal. He is not bad out there and has shown ability in a game or two against GB to get to the QB. Is there a stat or has anybody tracked him how often his responsiblity is to go for the sack? If they cannot reach an extension, they have to try and trade him. Cutting him and paying the one year are both bad.
  9. Ha, no worries it will stay in house. All jokes aside, some writer probably read it here when drawing blanks for his/her daily piece.
  10. AZ is not a random fan, but a famous football insider.
  11. XFL and Draft simulating this Saturday. Liked a lot of these selections the simulator gave to me. NFL DRAFT GAME 2020 Logged in as: ashkumbear YOUR TEAM: CHICAGO BEARS GAME OVER! Your score is: 36810 (GRADE: A-) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 11: Cole Kmet, TE, Notre Dame (A) Round 3 Pick 13 (DEN): Jake Fromm, QB, Georgia (A+) Round 3 Pick 19 (DEN): Bradlee Anae, DE/OLB, Utah (A) Round 3 Pick 31 (DEN): Ben Bredeson, OG, Michigan (A+) Round 4 Pick 41 (COMP): Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State (A+) Round 5 Pick 13: Ben Bartch, OT, St. John's (A+) Round 5 Pick 17: Jordan Fuller, FS/SS, Ohio State (A+) Round 6 Pick 17: Anthony McFarland, RB, Maryland (A+) Round 6 Pick 21: Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor (A) Round 7 Pick 19: McTelvin Agim, DT, Arkansas (A+)
  12. Or before getting there, maybe in the mound again for a MLB team.
  13. Or Nagy can create a running offense that compliments his players to not throw the Defense away. His offensive creation may blow defenses away if he ever has all the right pieces to make it work, but the 80 pass 20 run is not fooling anyone right now.
  14. Would Carr fit in an RPO? The Bears are not making adjustments to suit Trubisky, would they make them to suit Carr? There is speculation that Brady might end up in LV also. I would wait it out and let them cut Carr.
  15. Many teams use the concepts. The opposing defenses see the offense running out two TEs which might dictate run, so they may send out or leave in a LB. The U is going to be the more talented, which doesnt mean they cannot block. They can line up over the OT or motion out wide or sometime lineup as a RB. The Y is usually the stronger blocker but occasionally sneaks out on a route. The thing is, you have to run the ball. Marching out two TEs doesnt sell run when it is known it will be pass anyways.
  16. Y is your traditional inline blocking TE. U is basically a slot WR but a TE. Lines up anywhere along the line.
  17. Not much beef on 79" of frame. From Windy City Gridiron: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.windycitygridiron.com/platform/amp/2020/2/19/21144583/chicago-bears-sign-former-chiefs-browns-tight-end-demetrius-harris-free-agency The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Harris has impressive length for the tight end position, and his starting experience gives the Bears some much-needed experience to their current group of players. Touted for being a talented blocking tight end during his time with the Chiefs, he fits the in-line ‘Y’ tight end role.
  18. This fills the blocking Y TE position while Burton, Holtz, and Horstad can play the U. Raymond might be in the mix yet and Shaheen and Braunecker will fight for a roster spot. If they add another TE, it will be a draft prospect.
  19. One player Castillo may convince the Bears to draft is Runyan Jr. He coached him at Michigan and coached his dad at Philly.
  20. The Bears need more than added competition for the TE position, they need legitimate starters. I don't know much about Harris, but trust he is starter material as a blocking TE.
  21. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2020-nfl-free-agency-ranking-the-10-best-free-agent-offensive-tackles-led-by-anthony-castonzo-jack-conklin/ Who you thinking? Castanzo? I am all about upgrading, but to upgrade a player who recently signed makes it even more costly
  22. Or a WR to catch a few deep passes early on to make defenses respect the whole field. That could help the run but we probably wouldn't call any run plays anyways.
  23. It is all a bit unrealistic, but it is the time to dream. Most of these guys will go higher than slotted here but to see the Bears land most of the position needs would be nice. After watching KC, the Bears need speed (Reager/McFarlans). They need the playcaller to be a little smarter and the QB to feel confident.
  24. Made a trade with Atlanta, our two 2nds for their two, a 3rd and 4th. Could fill a lot of needs, especially if these guys are all available were slotted. Your score is: 35078 (GRADE: B+) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 15 (ATL): Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU (A) - so taking the top off makes sense, let's see how it helps. Round 2 Pick 23 (ATL): Prince Tega Wanogho, OT, Auburn (A-) -could become a good LT, challenges Leno/Massie day one. Round 3 Pick 14 (ATL): Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue (A+)- a playmaking TE to develop to replace and push Burton. Round 4 Pick 13 (ATL): Ben Bredeson, OG, Michigan (A+)- road grading G, great chance to start right away. Round 4 Pick 41 (COMP): Levonta Taylor, CB, Florida State (A+) lockdown corner, lacks size but can become a star on this D if pass rush exists. Round 5 Pick 13: Patrick Johnson, DE/OLB, Tulane (A+)-nice skill set to rotate and eventually replace Floyd. (Edit:just watched some game film-pass in him) Round 5 Pick 17: Anthony McFarland, RB, Maryland (A)-more speed to mix in with Monty and Cohen Round 6 Pick 17: Antoine Brooks, FS/SS, Maryland (A+)-in the box S, can start off exceeding in ST, play nickle, or might start at SS. Round 6 Pick 21: Riley Neal, QB, Vanderbilt (B+) - big arm QB to develop. Round 7 Pick 19: Rodrigo Blankenship, K, Georgia (A+)- best K in draft.
  25. I agree. The Bears are not going to put the offense and QB in jeopardy with an unknown LT. They might bring in competition and take a look, but this player would have to prove undoubtedly that they would be better. No NFL team is going to let a average/decent LT hit FA and to find a LT in the middle of round 2 makes it unrealistic. Not saying they won't draft a LT, but to find one that can be ready to start (strength, knowledge of plays) year one is difficult. Hopefully they find one in the draft that scares the sh@t out if Leno and puts him on notice.
