  1. My post wasn't a direct response to any particular post, but to a attitude that throws the dude under the bus because he hasn't scored a return TD yet. Yes. I do remember him giving credit to his blockers early on. The kid is much more humble in interviews and in public than he is on the field on Sundays. He always gave credit to his teammates. Also, there has been talk that we shouldn't have re-signed him or he isn't worth his contract. I just believe that sort of dismissive attitude is simply unrealistic and doesn't consider how much he really would command on the open market as a free-agent. Personally, I like the way he has been developing at WR. Of course, I would have loved to see a return TD or two. But, I think those will still come.
  2. C'mon guys. Really? All of the sudden he's bad? Have you guys seen any holes that he's missed? I sure haven't. Are the rest of the guys clearing lanes? I don't think so. I think that Hester is right. You can't just point the finger at him. Do you remember the blocks that he used to get on returns? I have yet to see any of them this year. I know that Toub's unit did great work for us earlier this season as well as the last couple years. But recently, they've left much to be desired. Maynard provides absolutely NO field position advantage; which can definitely impact how opposing teams kick to Hester. There are a lot of factors involved. You just can't look at Hester's contract (which he rightfully earned after a couple seasons of being underpaid) and lack of any TDs and say Hester is lazy, not worth it and worthy of the scorn of the fans. See what happens if we put him on the open market.
  3. He's now Jerry Jones' problem. Honestly, I'm happy he's out of our division. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3643295
  4. Congrats to you and the family!!! There's nothing like fatherhood.

I'm not sure you could tell on television. But, it seemed as if Ryan's long balls hung up in the air forever.
  6. I didn't like the squibb kick. I think that we should have kicked it far and relied on our STs to make a good tackle. The defense wouldn't have been in such of a compromising position. I also think that the odds of Norwood returning another one would be longer than the odds of a short squib kick that would make their offense need only one play to get into field goal position. Easy to say in hind-sight. But, I hated the call when in occured. Just like the 4th and goal inside the one. I told the Bears fan beside me that since we needed two scores anyway, we should go field goal. He thought I was crazy until they stopped us.

Dude, I was at the game. I know what I'm looking at. Again, I'm not talking about his run support. He's good there. But, as a CB, his main responsibility is pass defense. I think that he looked lost yesterday, same with Hamilton. Hamilton comes in and immediately gives up a big reception. We'll never know. But, I believe that Vash would have came up with a least one of those balls that were completed for big gains. I don't know how many third and longs we let them convert via the pass. But, it was far too many.

Nfo, I think that you're missing my point. I'm not excusing the lack of sacks by our DL and am definitely not giving the rest of our secondary a pass. It's that I've heard all season about how good Corey Graham was and how much we needed to find a way to get him some playing time. Again, I think that he performed very well against the run. But, he did equally as poor against the pass. I'm just saying that there were a few passes that I just KNEW were going to be intercepted and Graham didn't play the ball well at all and the passes ended up completed. I think that Dusty and Alex Brown have been our best DL all year and both had solid games yesterday. Did Wale suit up?? What happened to Izzy? We have to find a way to get more pressure. We're simply not getting it from our front four. We have to start blitzing/stunting or doing something different. I'm tired of running our LBs up to the LOS and never sending them. If you have to blitz to get pressure, then freakin' blitz!!! We cannot let QBs sit back and pick us apart. It has cost us a couple of games already this season. In defense of Mike Brown, that last pass was not his fault. It was ANOTHER one of our young CBs who made a mistake in coverage. However, I was pretty pissed that he didn't make that INT. Toub's unit has been playing well this season so I'll give him a pass on the squibb kick even though I hated the call and it contributed to us losing the game. But, I will not give the same benefit of the doubt to Babich for that soft cover two defense at the end of the game. I'm tired of his "playing not to lose" bull$**t. But, all of this conservative stuff points to Lovie. Freakin go for their throats and close out the game. Just because we have a lead, we don't need to go in to this failed "protect the lead" nonsense that we've seen much too often.

Well, this guy has shown that he can tackle. However, he is FAAAR from replacing Vasher in the lineup. The dude has no ball skills and cannot make the simplest of interceptions. Ryan made several looping throws that should have been easily picked off if the CB made a better adjustment to the ball. It was very frustrating to watch. We need our boys back. As much as we've been hearing from Lovie about our backup CBs, these dudes didn't impress at all.
  10. Our DL never really pressured Griese the entire game. We did get some pressure when we blitzed. Almost every time we blitzed, a negative or minimal play occured. What happened is the Babich adjusted OUT of the blitzes during the last minutes of the game. Griese had all day back there to make all of his throw. It's the old school "prevent" or "pure Cover 2" defense that got exploited.
  11. What pisses me off even more is that it looks like our freakin' fullback is getting all of KJ's carries. In power situations, I still trust Forte. But, if you're not going to give it to Forte, at least give it to KJ.
  12. They forgot about that part huh? LOL!!
  13. Oh, how much I loved watching Moose completely suck out there against SD. He was dropping balls, getting penalties, not getting separation; all of the stuff that we've seen for the past 3 years.
  14. He exits like the jerk he is. http://cbs2chicago.com/sports/jay.mariotti...s.2.803995.html Good riddance!
  15. We have as much talent on defense as anyone in the league. Now, what we do with that talent is another question. The problem clearly lies with coaching. Whether it's fundamentals like tackling/ staying in your gap, or scheme/aggressiveness issues; it still points to coaching. Now these guys haven't all the sudden forgot how to coach. But, I think that we are far too conservative on defense given the abundance of talent that we have. Going from Rivera to Babich has made us even more so. We've had tackling issues for years. Nothing very new; even during the Super Bowl season. However, we used to cause more disruption, which leads to turnovers; which bails us out of bad situations. Since we're not as aggressive, teams are less prone to mistakes.
  16. What does Mike Martz know about QBs and offensive football? C'mon! When it comes to offense, I'll take Jerry Angelo's opinion anyday over Martz.
  17. This is freakin' BS!!! That's our staff's problem. We can never develop ANYONE on offense; especially at QB. Rex can make all of the throws and has a world of potential. But, for some reason he cannot put it all together. Kyle was a very good, efficient QB in college and even pulled off some wins as a rookie. But, it doesn't look like he's progressed at all since then. That's coaching; or a lack thereof. JT O'Sullivan goes to SF and is now effective? We couldn't get anything out of him and we have these two guys battling it out? Gimme a break. Why can't we just draft a young kid and develop him to be the starter like everyone else?

    Ouch!

Man, you're giving no credit to Booker, who caught almost 200 balls in two years just a few years ago. Now, we will soon find out if he's lost a step. But, you can't really say that he's never proven himself. The dude is probably still one of the better blocking WRs in the league and will catch almost every ball thrown his way. As far as the QB play........
  19. Looks like Williams' injury is worse than we thought and John St. Clair isn't impressing. It appears as if our tackle gap has to take priority over our obvious gap at LOG. Also looks like we'll move Tait back to left and have an OL that is actually worse than it was last year. Tait would have less than a month to re-adjust to the LOT position. No way Fred Miller is game ready right now. There's also a good chance that he could be even worse than last year (which is a stretch for even the most creative imagination). I've never seen an addition come with so much bad news.
  20. Same here. Otherwise, it'll be a late night watching the replay on NFL Network.
  21. I was at Family Night on Friday. I couldn't believe how relentless the fans were against Rex. I felt really bad for the kid. They booed him when he came out, booed him when the moniter showed him stretching, booed him when he was practicing and of course they booed him when he missed some throws. WTF is that all about? Gimme a break. I watched the QBs closely. I gotta tell you that I'm not sold on Orton. His throws have much more arch on them than Rex's. It's not even close. As they are practicing/throwing together, you can see a distinct difference. The kid is accurate though. He did make some good throws. He even had a deep ball that was placed perfectly. I'm worried about our QBs. I was hoping to feel better about them. Wasn't very impressed by either. Looks like we're going to have to rely on strong defense and special teams.
  22. Butkus? You gotta be kidding me right? Man, I'd bet that dude was out drunk PLENTY of nights in the off-season. The cops just weren't going to lock him up. Different times now. Both of those did stupid things off the field during the off-season. However, they were productive on the field. That's all that counts for me. Not sure how you can definitively say we are now a better team than last week. We haven't secured his replacement. If we get Alexander, that would settle my nerves. But, what if we don't get him? Henry? Honestly tell me that you would have traded Benson for Henry this time last week? Not sure that any of you guys would say that. I don't think even the most adament Benson haters would argued for that move.
  23. Corey Dillon hasn't played football in two years. If I recall correctly, he wasn't tearing the league up when the Pats cut him. Henry's character is notably worse than Benson's and Benson has more upside and is tailor made for this offense if he's in shape and ready to play. Your point is taken on the role Henry/Dillon would play. I agree. That's where we are now. That's what we're looking for now. But, it makes us worse off than we were last week. I guess I'm still venting about my disagreement with his release. Probably need to simply get over it. But, I'm pissed because this hurts the team. Yeah, Benson made his bed. But, releasing him really hurts the team and may cost us. Why not sit him for a few games and give him a hefty fine for conduct detrimental to the team? What happens if we don't land a capable veteran RB? Adrian Peterson? If Forte becomes Adrian Peterson, I'll tip my hat to Angelo. But, it's a gamble. Addition by substraction is understandable. Maybe it happens this time. Cade is totally different though. He really never showed he could play in this league. Those rainbow throws don't count. Benson has shown what he could do in the right situation. Similar to Tank, I'd bet that Benson gets his head straight and plays well for his next team. We are prematurely releasing guys who can help our team. Again, I'm not pining for Benson. Don't really like the guy personally. Actually, I hoped Forte would be starter by mid season. I'm for what helps my team win games. I'm pining for WINNING! Don't get it twisted. I'm a BEARS fan!! It's not about Cedric Benson really. Players come and go.
  24. Listen what you guys are saying. Dillon? Henry? I would love for us to get Shawn Alexander. But, he has his own issues. Players who are "out there" are "out there" for a reason. Still think we would be a better team to allow CB to practice and suspend him for a couple of games. It wouldn't have went over well with the Mariottis, Claytons and Mortensons of the world. But, screw them! They aren't Bears fans anyway and couldn't care less about how many games we won. Later for the choir boy stuff. Not saying CB was a great football player. I've never been his biggest fan. I just know that this time last week, he was slated to be our starting RB. We cannot pretend that everything is better without him. We don't really have anyone that is ready to replace him.
  25. Understood Chile. But, I think that our running game was at its best when the two RBs were at each others throats and competing for carries. They were both much hungrier than they are now. Honestly, I think that Benson's problems started when he was simply given the job. He got fat, lazy and stopped working. Again, I just want to win. I'm not going to invite them over for dinner. I just want to . I don't think that this move helps us become a better football team. Yes, it makes us a nicer, more cop-friendly team with a better public persona. But, it hurts our running game; which was already bad to begin with. JA will have to bring in a RB with starting potential, or we're going to be in trouble. Not going to be an easy task. Think about it guys. AP is probably our #1 RB now. The #2 guy probably doesn't know the playbook and has zero NFL experience. #3 is probably best as a 3rd down back. If JA wants a bunch of nice guys, he needs to join the Boy Scouts. This is the NFL. Nice guys finish where we did last year. I'd take team full of mean, light running alcholics that can't wait to step on the field so they can knock your head off than a bunch of nice, charming, considerate guys who would rather be at church on Sundays than on the football field. I just don't really care about the off-field stuff as long as you don't hurt anyone (then all bets are off). I didn't care about Tank owning guns. I don't care about Benson being out at 3am. When it comes to my Bears, I only care about winning. JA may not agree. But, both of those guys will make us a better football team than we are now.
