Jason I have to agree with you about Webb and I think Moose Johnson said during the game that Webb has the most penalties of any offensive lineman in the NFL. His false start in the Raider game makes 12 I believe. So he is averaging a penalty per game. Its too late in the year to do anything about it now but come next TC I'd like to see Louis on the blindside or an early round draft pick. If Webb and Spencer become backups that is a good thing because they would be a depth upgrade over Omayale. As far as the screen call goes we know for a fact that it has been called twice and that it was not " executed properly" twice. IMO if I'm going to try a misdirection play at that point in the redzone, why not run the Wildcat package with Earl Bennett taking the snap and do that inside handoff to either Barber or Forte or Knox? So many times we see fans criticize a play call but will not come up with the play they would have called based on what the Bears have been doing since the preseason. This play would have made sense because even if it failed the FG was still an option on the following down.

The most important thing I got from his press conference and interview on Waddle and Silvie is that the pins can be removed anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks time. That in itself is a far cry from what the ever optomistic Dr. Smith's decree that he will be back by the end of the regular season. BTW Jay was very candid during the press conference and his interview with Waddle and Silvie giving direct answers to questions andalso stated that if a player gets mad because he says he was pissed at them then they shouldn't be on the team. IMO he is still being a team leader with the way he handled the media and his solid answers about how he will try to help Hanie and his comments about Martz.
-
IMO Orton played in what looked similar to what Martz does at Purdue under Joe Tiller and with himself Brees and Painter all having been starters in this league its safe to say that they all can pick up an NFL offense given time.
-
Collins being signed may have come with the endorsement of the GM and coach since he had a solid game versus the Bears while with the Skins whose OC Al Saunders was considered a guy who uses a system similar to Martz. Allegedly they all are Don Coryell disciples who while coaching the St.Louis Cardinals and San Diego Chargers had prolific passing yardage numbers.

With the medical profession its just like stats in sports you can find an expert to support any position you have. Just from most of your post on this thread I get the feeling you still don't want to believe that the injury is shutting Cutler down for the remainder of the season. BTW remember with Cutler being diabetic he has to avoid certain pain relievers and the healing process is a little different as opposed to someone who is not diabetic.
-
Played under Martz in 2006 and has been out of the league for a while and was currently coaching HS football as an assistant.
-
Colts claimed Addison on waivers.
-
Confirmed the Bears signed Josh McCown. Dallas also put in a claim on Orton also. KC was ahead of the Bears 11 spots on the waiver wire.
-
The article you linked is using a DR who isn't treating Cutler also.
-
Confirmed KC claims Orton against he and his agent"s wishes.
-
Along with Laptad being signed to long snap,Mario Addison is waived and Josh Davis OT and Joshua Moore CB signed to the practice squad.
-
He moves as well as Enderle who looked like a statue in the preseason. The lack of knowledge in Martz's system is a draw back as well as the 2.5 million left on his contract.

You dropped the key word and that is consistency. We have watched over the years when Tillman has a game where he plays like a number 1 and then he has a game where we feel he needs to be replaced immediately. The problem is he is the best CB on this team and if he was moved to safety I don't think they have anyone on the roster to replace his mindset.Tillman has never been the fastest or even the quickest CB for the Bears but he is the type of guy who has gotten the most out of what he has. Against the smaller quick types he has always struggled because he is terrible at change of direction but against the taller WRs he has fared a little better and that is why this last game against Jackson was out of character for him. Since this defensive staff uses a lot of zone looks at times they can hide a lot of the defiencies of their CBs.Jennings last year looked really suspect but seems to have rebound this season in the same defense.
-
Just asking but why would we want Cutler to return on a game in a dome when we have struggled mightily inside this year? Then there is the Jared Allen factor versus Webb. I'm not sure that it would be wise to have Cutler come back and have the possiblity of him hitting that hard Metrodome turf with a just healed hand. I would like for him to get completely healed like Carimi and if his first game has to be a playoff game so be it. WTBS 5-1 Lovie has a decent record coaching against the AFC West and I believe that trend will continue. I also believe that we can shock the packers up at Lambeau.
-
Agreed and because I don't follow all that other crap,I believe it was just some reporters trying to do what their job calls for provide a"scoop"
-
The quotes from our defensive leaders Urlacher and Briggs this week as well as Tillman who basically told reporters that he wants to stay under the radar and "Don't Jinx Us". Makes me believe that they are not looking past this game. If they had the packers on the horizon I could see that as a distraction but going to Oakland the following game is not something that will take the Bears off theirrally cry one game at a time. They really do believe the philosophy that Lovie preaches about playing your best ball in Nov and Dec.
-
I agree and this past draft the only team IMO that had the opportunity to draft for depth or "seasoning" this past draft was the packers with all the players they had on IR(14 I believe) they were set up pretty nice winning the super bowl allegedly short-handed and gaining 14 veteran players plus 7 draft picks which allowed them to refresh and stock pile depth and maintain their status as one of the youngest teams in the league.

I just voted again and hope I can stay awake to vote again.

That part I understand. Have you looked at the Chargers injury report for who is out this game on offense and defense? Rivers is leading the league in INTs so he is not that accurate with the football this year. And again they are predicting windy conditions here for the game which would be the same exact conditions as last week. I feel the Chargers will try to come out and establish the run in a punch you in the mouth manner with the injuries they have on the o-line.
-
I hear Ya. What I can't understand is the no nonsense approach that Lovie has taken to play on the field when it comes his safeties, why that isn't the same approach to your franchise QB's protectors. This guy has been tried at guard,LT,RT and now should be at LO(Left Out). Why is he still with this team? All the rhetoric about "We are always looking to improve our team" is crap if this guy continues to be on this team when he can never complete a game that he starts.
-
The current weather forecast calls for windy conditions and I believe Malcolm Floyd is out along with two of their starting OL out for this game with the guard being on IR.Evidently the OT that replaces McNeil is pretty bad so I believe Peppers is going to probably lineup on him all game and may test the backup OG also. The key will be stopping Matthews on runs and getting ahead so that it can make the Chargers one dimensional. The Chargers D has quite a few of their best defensive players on the injury report also.
-
There is a whole lot being made of him not playing but to be honest he has been gone most of the season and they have survived and improved without him. Let him get healthy then all of a sudden we have the situation that we have all been waiting for some versatility and depth because whoever is the odd man out creates experienced depth and my fingers are crossed that "Rank" Omiyale never sees the field again this season on offense.

Interesting tidbit on Mario Williams' FA next season
lemonej replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
A move to solidify the end position would not surprise me since this past off season the Bears spent most of their money on the defensive side of the ball.I also wouldn't be surprised if they felt the need to shore up the depth at the safety position. -
I personally like the fact that they shut him down so they wouldn't be tempted to run him out there. I would love for him to get completely healed before he sees the field again.I just don't want to see another Columbo scenario.
-
Why all the pessimism? Didn't Graham have a pick in the endzone last week? With the Chargers O-line problems this game could resemble last weeks game if Rivers continues to take the risks he has taken so far this season and Sunday afternoon is supposed to as windy as last Sunday.
