    Carimi On IR

Why he is missing the rest of the season may be based on how he is recovering from the Scope.I get the impression from the beat reporters that the injury was more serious than we were led to believe.
  2. Evidently he was carted off the field on Wed.That doesn't sound good. Tom Waddle thinks that Moore in the Nickel Back role is as important to the defense as Earl Bennett is on offense on 3rd down. As for the fines Stafford allegedly got 7500 for being the instigator. A couple of other Lions were fined for coming off the bench and jumping in the pile. So far Moore is the only Bear fined for the altercation.

    Carimi On IR

He hasn't been able to practice since the scope and I think its best that he be shut down and it gives them a chance to see what they have in Horn and I hope they sign someone to make O my God the very last resort.

The injuries is the perfect arguement for drafting and trying to develop young linemen. You need depth at this position if Martz is your OC because he demands a lot from his linemen. A perfect example is what (I hate to say it)Green Bay does. They have Clifton and Balaga(sp?) but were able to put Newhouse and 1st rder Sherrod in to replace them. They have arguably one of the best 4 man groups at WR with Jennings, Driver,Nelson and Jones but, still drafted Randall Cobb in the 3rd round this past draft as well. Nick Collins goes down and they insert Peprah another draft pick in his place. They have had this philosophy for years which is why they are able to let players like Farve and Barnett go and not look back. This how you develop players and keep your team competitive by bringing in younger players to push the veterans. JA doesn't do this on offense but does to a certain degree on defense as the Bears draft D-linemen every year and Safeties. They have never really drafted a LB high enough to really be considered part of the future.
  8. Agreed and Billick was pointing it out all game and said the single high safety indicated either man/press or cover3. being that DJ Moore has been coming on blitzes every game and sometimes some of the DL have dropped back into the short zone he vacates.Billick continuosly asked why the Lions didn't recognize what coverage the Bears were in and take advantage with Megatron one on one with Tillman. He was targeted 19 times out of 63 passes which is a little less than1/3 of the pass plays.IMO the guy who was invisible was Pettigrew who I can remember only being thrown to three times. I saw Roach locked up on him a couple of times and he looked decent in coverage. The one pass play I thought Detroit had success with was quick slants which was the play where Briggs laid the hammer on Johnson. They didn't go to them often enough instead opting for plays toward the sidelines where defenders could read the QB and jump the route which happened on both pic/6's.To throw that ball to the sideline in that wind you have to havea cannon for an arm. Stafford throws a nice deep ball but he didn't have much zip on his sideline throws for some reason.
  9. The constant media chatter that I have been hearing is that the Lions are a little full of themselves and may have taken the Bears lightly. Some suggest that includes their coaching staff who may have gone with what looked like a similar game plan as the previous game but, the one adjustment they didn't count on was the Bears played more man coverage this time around. Hopefully they are arrogant enough to think that was a blip and continue to put forth sub par efforts as they come up against some more playoff contending teams. The Lions fortunes will rise and fall with their coach and his lack of emotional control. When he was the DC in Tenn, he had a certain tackle that kicked a player in the head and now you see some of that same crap with this group in Detroit. We've been through this same scenario when Forrest Gregg was the HC of the packers.
  10. Here is something I didn't factor in for this game and that is Detroit had a bye week before this game and the Bears had a short week to get ready for this game so no matter what the Bears called the Lions should have been ready for just about every play that the Bears called. OTOH on offense that was a piss poor effort by the Lions offense after having all that time to prepare.
  11. Agreed and in recent memory it has become a political campaign almost. I still feel Howie Long should not have been voted in before Dent but his regular position on the highest rated pre-game show every week helped.I have been looking at a lot of all-time stats and Deon Sanders has only one NFL record which Hester will break probably in the next couple of weeks and that is Most Returns all time.He wasn't a great tackler and teams generally wouldn't even through on his side of the field.Sanders played on I believe atleast 3 SB teams and thats part of his resume along with legendary Combine speed numbers and his reputation of being the greatest shutdown corner in the game.I never got that when he wasn't being tested constantly and he never came up and made tackles in the run game on the corner.

Chris Williams will be placed on IR per Lovie just from his press conference.
  13. LOL reminds me of some of the posts during the games on this board a lot of pessimistic view points IMO. If I can only find 2 plays that I don't agree with from any Bears' OC in recent memory then more than likely I am pretty happy with the way the game is going. Another impressive thing to see was Forte didn't try to force the ball to Davis.
  14. Yes both are in Namath picked up a lot of passing yardage from the old AFL and was a pretty flamboyant player for his time and the one big win was huge on his HOF resume. Bradshaw played with 4 other players in the HOF including two WRs.
  15. 2 NFL records that Sayers still holds is career kick return average 30.6 yds per return and 6 TDs in a game. These are stats I didn't know about because he passed the eye test for me.

    Tillman

I would rank him number 2 behind Roosevelt Taylor and ahead of Bennie McRae.These 2 guys played in the 60's when it was 3 yards and a cloud of dust game planning. If we com a little closer to the present I take him first Les Frazier 2 and Alan Ellis 3.For overall DB's I rank Gary Fencik number one,Ritchie Pettibone 2 ,Taylor 3 and Tillman 4. I believe when its all said and done he will go down as the best CB but Fencik will get my nod for tops because of his total INTs.
  17. Last night Bob Costas said "How can you keep Hester out of the Hall of Fame".

If I had to guess they may promote one of the kids either Henry or Horn from the PS if Williams goes on IR.
  19. One early play I didn't care for was the halfback pass he called.Let your best passer throw the ball and let your best RB run the ball.

    Props to DJ Moore

Agreed and the league is probably going to dish out quite a few big fines for this game.Stafford should have been called for illegal use of the hands and Fairley's hit on Cutler should have warranted an ejection also. The refs lost control of this game early.I still didn't see Briggs hit as a PF. The view wasn't clear that he went helmet to helmet. It was good to see the Bears dish out some punishment back to the Lions who start that cheap shot crap when the start losing it happened against ATL and SF.
  21. The only problem with what Martz did was when the Bears were clearly up and in control of the game he was calling consecutive pass plays exposing Cutler to more of the cheap shots that both team dished out in the 4th qtr.I felt they should have run some of those plays just to keep the clock moving. The real problem was the team on the other side of the ball wasn't allowing any sustained success of any plays called. The only player on offense who seemed up for the challenge was Bennett.
  22. There was an ABC 7 reporter on the sidelines before the game(Rafer Wiegel)who reported that info. Today on ESPN radio I heard that the inactive scratch was related to poor play and may have been used in a motivational way.Though Adams has had some bouts with gout flare ups I believe the latter is a more realistic scenario with Lovie being a little more demanding publicly than in seasons past with Briggs being quoted as saying that he demands the best from all of us.
  23. Okay I'll bite. I check out 2 mocks on NFL draft scout and one has the Bears taking DT Worthy of Michigan State and the other has the Bears taking WR Nick Toon of Wisconsin. Here's my stab at it: 1.Alex Barron SS Alabama this is arguably the best safety in the draft and with the Bears currently at 22 this could be the John Lynch type they have been looking for and he is a big boy at 6-2 215 2.Rueben Randle WR LSU Big WR that goes up and gets the ball at its peak and is clutch for the Tigers and with that running game we know he can block. 3 Nate Potter OT Boise State I like B Bear's pick here who is also versatile enough to move inside. 3. Andre Branch DE Clemson Has an 11 tackle game this year against Va Tech including 3 sacks 5 tackles for loss and 3 QB pressures, Played football and basketball(Power Forward) in HS. Sound familar? 4.Emmanuel Acho ILB Texas older brother Sam already in the NFL and has the size and speed to be groomed to replace Urlacher down the road.He also could start out on the strong side. 5. Brett Roy DT Nevada at 6-3 280 he is the right body type the Bears like at the under tackle and would only have to bulk up a little bit 6. Jordan White WR I'm dreaming to think the player that has broken some of Greg Jennings records will last this long. He is very clutch and Ithought he should have come out last year. 7.Rishaw Johnson OG California(PA) character issues surround this player who originally started out at Ole Miss but got kicked off the team for repeated rules violations so the Bears take a chance with the idea that Tice can make him toe the line.
  24. You're right and the only guy they had at safety that was injured more than him was Brendan McGowan.
